I liked what you had to say. If we want to change the world we have to allow it to change. That means accepting that people change. Just because someone was wrong in 1999 doesn't mean they haven't evolved in 20 years. Just take people at face value for what they bring to the table right now.

She was actually getting clean and that night her fiancé wouldn’t come out and basically treated her like he didn’t care and got drugs from another dealer and it was cut higher than she was used to.

Janis Joplin was treated like trash. She is considered one of the first women in rock music. If she wouldn't had died at 27 I think she would've been as big as M.J. Janis had a black girlfriend in the 60s. Her girlfriend said they would sing songs on the balcony of her house. Her girlfriend also said that she had many singing voices and the singing voice that made Joplin famous was not her favorite of Janis Joplin's singing voices.

More people need to think like you, I for one do. Everybody has done something in their past they are not proud of, but that doesn't mean it is what defines someone unless of course the continue to do. The past is the past it it doesn't need to be constantly thrown in your face when you haver started making positive changes in your life. This song was written by Kris kristifferson. One of the greatest songwriters of our time. And I watched an interview last week that said they were living together when she recorded this song. She could really bring a song to life. She lived hard and sang hard.

I definitely felt your speech about drugs man. I've never done them myself, other than marijuana, which I still smoke. I had grown up around all kinds of drugs though and have witnessed a lot of horrible shit because of that. And in the past 3 years, I've lost 11 friends, 6 to heroin, 2 to meth and 3 to fentynal. I also lost my best friend to meth 7 years ago, when he himself was 27 and I was 25, and I still find myself crying from time to time, remembering our friendship from babies to adults, and the day I found out he passed, 2 days after Christmas. And I couldn't even attend his funeral because I was in another state visiting family. And to this day, 7 years later, I still haven't been able to bring myself to visit his grave. I know I should, and I know I will eventually but his passing, 7 years later, still heavily affects me. We were very very close, closer than we were with our own siblings. And what really gets me is that Roger always lifted me up when others put me down and my biggest regret was NOT being able to do the same for him. I tried and tried but I could never get through to him. He always lifted me up while he was sinking and told me to stay away from the drugs while he was getting hooked on them...yeah...I think about it every day. Was there more I could've done to help him from sinking? Why couldn't me being there for him have the same affect as him being there for me had? Why did I fail him where he succeeded for me? And when I listen to Janis, I feel all that pain and all those memories come rushing back and nearly overwhelms me. I have found solace in her music. No other artist of any genre has made or can make me feel or experience what Janis can when she sings. She soothes my soul and reminds me that those we love may be physically gone, but as long as we keep their memories alive, their spirits will live on for eternity.

Look for the Dick Cavett interviews of Janis. He adored her. And in the three interviews of her on his show, you can watch her descent into her demise. Truly a heartbreaking loss. But this is also true of so many of our friends and families. So smart, so funny, and then addiction.

Janis is part of the 27 club Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain (suicide but in the crime scene photos it implys he shot up before taking his life, some say his wife killed him), Amy Winehouse and others all died at the age of 27 from drug and alcohol related deaths River Phoenix missed it cause he was 23 but he also died from the same drug combo as John Belushi, and Chris Farley. So many good talented artists dead to heavy drugs it's so sad.

She was a great artist but she was taken too early. I agree with you on the matter of drugs, but most artist started using it because of the fame, pressure put on them and some other things most of us don't know of. But man does it sucks.

Janis and Jimmie Hendrix were a couple. So talented, so into drugs. Miss them both.

People still say Em is from the trailer park, and he never really grew up in one. He said he stayed in a few but somehow he's always known as the guy who came from the trailer park.

I understand the addicting effects of drugs. I have lost a couple of friends to drugs. Not death, but drugs. What I don't understand is why anyone would try drugs to begin with. I've always told my kids, You name one story that goes "I was a nobody until I started using drugs, now look at me, successful, rich and famous." And I will buy you the drugs you want. Because the story is always "I had everything, money, success and fame, then lost it all to drug addiction." Now both my kids are grown and drug free, thank God. But if you know that that is the most likely scenario, why try them in the first place. Please guys, make a different choice. Nobody beats drug addiction. Some may survive it, even thrive after it, but nobody wins against it.
