Sorry for missing this, I was spending my birthday with a girlfriend! Which is of course a good enough reason :P Man, I still wish those Ready Room episodes were available here. That sounds pretty cool. Though for a sec I thought you were saying you were in the Shuttlepod podcast Heather, because I misremembered the name lol. That kiss was so much better than in the previous episode. Mostly because Gwyn initiated it instead of the shitty little boy :P I guess he’s not so shitty now though! I did find the solution a little bit of a cop out, because surely the Borg should’ve known an explosion in the drive would destroy it? But they said it couldn’t be destroyed. But I don’t mind too much, they would’ve had to find some way to deal with it. I’m glad they didn’t time travel to fix it, though I find the new wormhole they opened up an interesting time loop thing. Because what caused the original one? Was it somehow caused by this? And why didn’t Starfleet detect the original one, was it just temporary? Because apparently this new one is an exact match. Also wasn’t O’Brien technically W1 or W2? The UK rank system is a bit different than the American one (for instance O1 and O2 in America are just OF1 here), but I remember reading the top chief rank was a warrant rank. That was ages ago though. I must admit I’m a bit sad Gwyn is going - when she got to “be captain” last episode I was like “this better not be her only chance”, especially with her dad saying “go to Solum”. But at least it was presented as her choice (I’m kinda dubious about that since it was her dad’s request but whatever), and her outfit was super snazzy. I wonder if that’s an ambassador uniform. The white shoulders with her copper swirls just worked so well. Honestly I’m surprised Starfleet is building more Protostar dives, given how quickly they abandoned other projects for having small problems. And the constant risk of explosion if containment goes offline is even worse than for antimatter! I was really expecting the finale to say “well we can’t do that again!” but the season ends with both quantum slipstream and protojump being viable options for the fleet. Discovery said slipstream needed too rare of a fuel, but what’s the reason for protojump not being a future option? Maybe just scarcity of the stars, but there’s bound to be plenty of brown dwarfs that Starfleet could dump extra hydrogen into to push them over the edge, so I dunno. I definitely enjoyed having a properly long epilogue, which Star Trek has gotten quite good at. And I totally thought Zero looked like a personality sphere in their new suit too.
