I've been running a bunch of mini PF2e campaigns in Runeterra and I've been throwing everything from darkin to primordial demons. They're currently tangoing with a certain enchantress from the Black Rose.
I don’t know much about Janna but liked her as a spirit in Zaun but always wished she had a bit more of something if that makes sense? Really glad LoR is giving her something now!
Would be kind of cool, if Riot ever does a Janna rework in league, to make her ult incorporate that L2 form. Maybe something similar to how some other champions have transformations.
Current head cannon of mine is that Azir based his ascension to Janna, copying aspects Janna level had, wings, beak armor, staff being a "god", "being a guardian"
The text under the Exalted Cloudwinder says "My dear Zephyr. Come down from your clouds and perch on my shoulder awhile, won't you?" -Janna, How fcking big is Janna then??
I think the most likely explanation for Janna's Spirit god form is to bring her more in line with Volibear and Ornn in appearance. She only coincidentally looks like an Ascended or a Celestial to some people because she is decorated in Shuriman aesthetics.
I can't help but doubt that. The Freljordian Demi-gods are all far more polarized in their design. Volibear, and Anivia are very animal-like in their designs, with Anivia being a literal bird, and Volibear being basically just a Bear that walks upright. They're all the types of character designs you'd expect to see out of small scale fables and folk tales, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, stuff passed down orally from parent to child. The Ascended are far more "animal and human blended together", with Azir, Nasus, and Renekton effectively being a human body that has taken on additional animalistic traits rather than being "an animal that moves slightly more human-like than normal animals". They're closer to the kind of "actual gods" you'd see a formal organized religion contain, with the obvious example being Egypt, but also other mythologies like Hindu and I'd honestly describe it as, the Freljordian demi-gods are "animals that act like people" , the Ascended are "furries", and Janna seems far more "furry" than "animal", so I really doubt she's meant to be connected to the Freljordian Demi-gods rather than the Ascended.
@@Late0NightPCEh, volibear has a canon skin depicting him as an eldritch horror, and as far as I know, the freljordian gods are stronger than the ascended knock offs However, I would really vibe with an ascended janna, leaving stupid human matters aside and being blessed with wind magic by her ascension, helping others until eventually becoming demi-godlike by pure chance
First of all, i think she is MEANT to look like the ascended. Because essentially the ascended is a knock off to Shuriman original god. But yeah, the Bibically Accurate aesthetic made her clash with Kayle aesthetic a bit too much. And i agree she being Runeterra own god like the Freljordian Gods and not from space (aspect) or artificial (ascended). And im okay with her having different direction with the Freljordian Gods, kinda like different place have different aesthetic for their gods (just like irl). But yeah, to be fair more animalistic design would be welcomed
@@Late0NightPC Ornn is essentially a dwarf with the face of a ram and Volibear also leaned more into an anthropomorphic design compared to his pre-rework design, though not as much as the Ascended like you pointed out. Realistically Anivia is only a full on bird because she hasn't been reworked and possibly that her design may be too iconic to her character to be brought in line with Volibear and Ornn, despite the fact that change would absolutely make her more popular. However, my point wasn't that Janna matched up 1:1 with the Freljordian spirit gods, only that she was pulled into that general direction. The differences come as a result of Volibear and company being Freljord gods whereas Janna is effectively a Shuriman god.
@@MeLlamoBauti Because the Ascended are not gods but once humans turned God-Warriors with god-like power whereas the Freljordians are actual Demi-Gods.
Reason why she now after voli is cause they threw out the viego crap. It completely failed and had huge backlash. Honestly biggest failure they made, even more then the star guardian event.
It would not surprise me if one of the reasons they are wanting to keep LoR around despite the lack of profit is so they can continue to expand the lore in preparation for the MMO.
This seems to be the case especially after their last update. LoR also seems to act as a funnel for Riot's other projects especially after youtubers like Necrit cover them. Imagine the amount of people that will play league once the new update drops or buy a new skin for janna after watching this video.
@@MazDconDecepticonit’s very popular on mobile, certainly not as profitable as the other games. LoR seems like it is a project to boost Riots status and make devs and players happy
The sigle of Nilah's crew looks like the camavor seal, but upside-down. Which if their country developed in such a way that they are defined by their relationship to Camavor, makes sense.
I am certain we will see the fight between Nilah and Voli. The set's name, Fate's Voyage: Onward implies a multi-set story arc, like the one we got with the Darkin Saga.
my first thought on hearing Nilah was going to Freljord was that she might be planning on tracking down Olaf too, seeing as he was also a temporary member of the Sentinels.
With regards to nilah and voli, afaik she KNOWS where viego is, she even says to graves that they ditched him on her shores! She was looking for a specific sentinel, which is why she went for graves, only to realize he’s pretty useless and not who she was looking for (after kicking him through a wall)
I don't know if you watched the Janna trailer but at the end they show the boat going from PnZ to Freljord, like how it went from Bilgewater to PnZ in the Nilah trailer
A caster of china asked a riot worker who is on the MMO that if he was an artist he wouldn't come closer to the MMO project, i think it will be such a letdown
@@michapiasta3072 There aren't any other ''generic elf mage''s in LoL so she is unique by herself as it is. This design looks like a modern art. Its overcomplicated, mish mash of a visual.
I would prefer them changing the green of her dress to white but its a good design. I do however think that Nilah challenging The Volibear is silly and she will be bodied.
Since Janna's original design didn't include green, I believe her new design incorporates green in order to better show that she's from Zaun (as green is Zaun's primary color). That's super cool! Her wearing gold could represent Piltover as well (gold being one of Piltover's primary colors), though the gold is likely more tied to her Shuriman roots (Zaun formerly being a Shurima seaport, Osha Va'Zaun).
I think "The" Volibear is not the real Volibear itself, rather it's a manifestation of Volibear itself..... like how Ursines become monstrosity images of Volibear the more they worship him....
@@vickiraytivegames1040there's some voice lines of Volibear where he pandering if he's real or just a manifestation of himself like a projected image of his real body.. Maybe "The" Volibear that Nilah would challenge is just a projection of the real Volibear, like a mirage

They can't even do more than 1-2 ASU(s) per year. It would take them 5+ years for them to rework her at this rate. Small indie game company, am I right?
the art is amazing. if this is again one of those situations of skilled people at the right place at the right time.. then we are in for the next big thing in gaming history
I have this headcannon that Janna is old enough to be the reason why Ascended look like that. That Celestials knew how to put their power and themselves into mortals(the aspects) but as the sun disk was just putting celestial power into mortals to make them into demigods, the mortal forms couldnt take the power alone and not collapse, so the Celestials decided to alter their forms as part of the Ascension, and base their forms into something that already existed and worked, Janna (and perhaps other gods? that were forgotten?) and due to that, the Ascended have their bodies morphed by the Ascension into animals's like forms. All of this, the same way scientist create mechanisms that mimic a biological process that an animal or plant does.
I love how spirits in runeterra have connections and appearences related to animals. Like how Kindred appears as the Wolf and the Lamb and Janna as a bird. Almost as if the people shaped the spirits from their belief since long ago when animals were the best symbolism.
I've beenJanna main since 2014, I'm still in the league because of her and I didn't like her design in LoR... and I honestly feel insulted, because it seems like they didn't care about the people who really like Janna pc/wildrift. Looks like a new character with Janna's hair and "crown". Was it so difficult to add more characteristics of the original Janna to this new Janna?? like the white dress or the crystal staff. I'm very sad 😥...and sorry for my English, it's not my first language
I agree with this one but you can also blame the writers who changed the whole lore since 2014 and spoonfed Janna as a character into a Goddess….. at first there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you are making a right direction. This new visual update is equivalent of ruining Spiderman or Superman’s classic design, but in a very worst scenario possible. But that 2nd form though, they can keep the idea. Still really wish Riot makes a proper update on her, and not just pleasing a certain group or something.
I agree. I'm a long term Janna main as well. I think she should be more in touch with her nature-like roots. Less gold plating and biblically-accurate angel, more birdlike, wild, and elemental. Her first form is okay. A bit "too" shuriman if you ask me, because very few people think Shurima when they think of Janna, it's a bit confusing unless you go DEEP into the lore like this. But the second is just weird. Janna is a gentle goddess - soft-spoken, feminine and graceful. But this form is anything but. It's cold, harsh and divine. She looks almost identical to Kayle. I hate to be such a downer but it's really disappointing to lose a character we love by having what makes them who they are stripped away.
My only complaint is that k prefer her old voice. Her old voice was more angelic and it suited her. Her old voice really captured her essence as a wind goddess and almost sounded like it was fading like the wind. I have to say that I do like her tan skin since also white people are not always pale since some are a more tanned. But then again she’s a goddess so I imagine she can change her color at anytime. This reminds of The Virgin Mary when she appeared to Saint Juan Diego; she changed her appearance to look more indigenous to look more friendly and thus became the Virgin of Guadalupe. Janna definitely gives this vibes.
If anything Janna reminds me of the blonde girl from Rhodopis, an ancient cinderella from the middle east. not that there connected together some sort. Heck she's pretty much has become the Belldandy of League of Legends since 2011.
Ohh it really was because it definitely redefined the character just in her new design alone, I do hope though she becomes a somewhat of a Shuriman Ascended though, she needs to be powerful in order to support her City now more than ever!! I do hope though that if Riot wants to incorporate this one as well, that they still manage to retain her White Costume like in WR in some form on her base model or something idk since it's iconic!!
I think Janna's level up form would look better if it was blue instead of white since she's associated with blue birds. The white also makes her look too angel-like which makes her look like she's connected to Mihira.
My only worry is her voice. Her current voice is so much more pleasent and just ICONIC. Idk why she has to suddenly have a deeper voice with a british accent😭
😲🗺Wait I was so confudes when Necrit showed the map in 1:24. That's so cool! I remember when he mentioned that there was the possibility of there being other lands to the East. I am just curious if there is an earlier video of him talking about this? This is the first time I see the expanded map and would love to delve deeper into a video about it if he has one. TY!
I think Janna is like Soraka, she took pity on humans or began to like them, and descended, Soraka's starlight burns her from the inside, maybe Janna too has strugles to keep her corporeal form together and not just fade away
I really think they'll use LoR in the MMO. You know how The witcher 3 has Gwent Inside of it? Riot's MMO in the future could very well have LoR inside of It, using all of that great artwork to help tell the world's story Would be fucking awesome
