I just purchased a 9450 after watching your tutorials. I love Janomes and decided it was time to upgrade my 6600. I will be watching you often as I learn how to get the most of my new machine! Thanks for sharing!

Also, I didn't know about using the back bar to lock in the foot. Thank you. That solves a problem with the foot falling off easily. LOL

I always find your videos extremely helpful. Whenever I need a reminder or a refresher on how to do “something” I go back to your site for the information I need on the 9450 QPC, Thank you……….

On my Elna Excellence, if I'm using the single hole needle plate, it will not let me use a zig-zag stitch. It gives me a buzz!!

Hi Kim, I have a Janome 9450 (love it!). When I install the PD-H foot and use Straight Stitch 1, I feel like the foot pressure is too tight on the fabric. It definitely not a thick quilt. I try adjusting the foot height in settings but even when it's the highest setting, it doesn't feel much different. Any suggestions?

Check page 102 of your manual to see how to change the height of the presser foot. I would use Straight Stitch 2 and adjust the presser foot height until it is just skimming the quilt.

I am somewhat confused about the plates. It was my understanding that the HP plate was the plate to use for quilting. Would it be possible for you to address the HP plate? Otherwise, your video is more helpful than the user manual. Thank you!

The HP plate and associated foot are perfect for sewing a 1/4" seam. There is also an HP "walking foot" that you can use as well. There are only a certain number of stitches that can be used with the HP foot and plate. Check out my video on it at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--wwg9raqZKo.html. This is on the Janome MC9400, but still applies to the MC9450.

If the straight stitch plate is fitted it's not possible to select a zigzag stitch

Hi Kim , do you have a video for free hand quilting for Janine Horizon 8900?
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 3 месяца назад
Do you mean "free motion" quilting? If so, I have several on different machines but the technique is the same no matter what sewing machine you use. I also have several courses on this technique on my website at www.chatterboxquilts.com/learn-courses.

When you do free motion quilting on your 9450, do you use the yellow bobbin case?
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 4 года назад
No, I don't use the yellow dot bobbin case for anything on my 9450 - it's a tighter tension mostly used when doing machine embroidery. I use the blue dot bobbin case for free motion quilting.

Does the information shared here apply to the Janome Continental M7? Would you please address the use of the HP plate and it's use in quilting too? Thank you.
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 4 года назад
I'll add that to my list of videos with the M7. It also has these free motion quilting feet included with it so most of this information does also apply.

What plate do you use with ruler work. Thank you
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 4 года назад
As ruler work is also free motion quilting, I use the single hole needle plate.

can this machine be set for a scant quarter inch?
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 4 года назад
Yes, it has the option of moving your needle position so you can set it for exactly the ¼" seam you would like.
