Ruby was told to go the temporary insanity route as part of the cover-up. That way they could get out of temporarily out of jail and question him secretly and make a deal. I also believe he was responsible for Tippit's murder, not Oswald.

This black-and-white news film is from January 28, 1964. On February 17, jury selection in Jack Ruby’s trial began. Two days later, Dorothy Kilgallen first appeared in the courthouse. She joined defense lawyers Melvin Belli and Joe Tonahill as they walked up the long, unbroken flight of steps inside the courtroom several minutes before 9:00 am. Courtroom proceedings began at 9. Photographers started firing flashbulbs as the trio ascended the challenging flight of steps. The Sunday, February 23 edition of the New York Journal-American ran Dorothy’s account of her first conversation with Jack Ruby. Contrary to what a lot of conspiracy theorists say, neither of Dorothy’s two conversations with Jack Ruby led to her death. She was killed by an entertainment columnist named Ron Pataky who had no direct connection to Jack or to conspirators. He was a psychopath who had his own motive for killing her. Their first meeting was on June 8 or 9, 1964.
