That 4549 Jumper & Blouse pattern is so cute! Love the longer pants of view 1 on that (absolutely definitely not) Simplicity 3250. The mommy & baby sheep are just perfect for your room decor. Sleeve patterns are just wild, aren't they? Can't wait to see the next Sewing Through The Decades installment.

For button holes, and just about any sort of hand sewing stitch, I highly, highly, recommend the book "Handsewn" by Margaret Rowen. This book lays out all sorts of hand sewing stitches in a very clear, easy to follow method! I checked it out from my local library continuously, until I finally got it for Christmas a year ago. It's clarified so many different stitches for me!

Petticoats. I Went on a petticoat rampage for the last 2-3 months. Why? Not sure; I think it's that I know I'm moving by summer and I wanted to clear out my stockpile of high-thread count white bed sheets. What I've done with each petticoat is used my hip measurement as my waist measurement (all of them have elastic waist bands) and then just made a tube... BUT from there, for each one, the hem length is different and I picked one sewing technique I haven't done to apply to it as a way to test things without the end product being visible (and yet not create something that will get tossed instead of used). So far my favorite has been making a flannel-lined cotton petticoat; these things were popular in the 1800s but the base concept is still super useful for fashion today. With this kind of under layer you can wear all of your light weight skirts and dresses through winter; so while you still might not want to wear spring colors in mid-winter, you can still wear all your favorite neutral color pieces that were only seasonal because of their weight/ thickness. The important detail to try and apply when making a flannel petticoat is to go back after doing the basic assembly (sandwiching/sewing two tubes of fabric together, outer-facing layer cotton and inner layer flannel, and folding over/sewing down the waistband tube after turning them right side out) and do a bit of quilting. My quilting pattern was just the simple grid/quilting squares look because the cotton lawn was really floaty, but if anyone likes hand embroidering/quilting this would be an opportunity to practice your technique without worrying about how perfect it will look once complete.

This may have seemed like a mess to you but it was super inspiring. I let it play while digging through my stash for old sheets to start cutting out my first corset pattern (mock up/pattern, etc). I'm almost done cutting everything and adding all the marks I need to remember for the actual cutting and fitting in the future. Thanks so much for this vlog! So nice to watch! ❤️

Angela, I'm so proud of everything you've managed to do in 2 months. I'm currently procrastinating finishing a simple project that will take less then an hour, and after listening to you work through your own procrastination on projects that take much much longer you're giving me inspiration to work. ❤️

On the plus side I did get the back seat of my car cleaned out, now just the trunk space is left. Wahooo!!!!

I've recently started sewing, have tried a few things and went on a pattern course, and am largely just frustrated when things go wrong and I feel like I'm wasting material (I know I'm learning but it's still frustrating) so hearing you talk about completely re-doing projects makes me feel loads better to know it's not just me! Especially when you make such complicated outfits look so easy!

One VERY important note when you craft paper or any paper for drawing, writing, or using as mat is making sure that the paper is acid free. If the paper is not acid free it will start fading in color and eating itself.
