Yes! We love a deep-dive video! I have to get to Yokohama and try some of this pure ice. The way that it's made is absolutely magical. Can't imagine all of the time and devotion it takes to become a master at this craft. Even the bartenders who use it in their drinks treat the ice with so much delicate touch and love. Simply amazing! Now I'm craving sushi and highball hehe

Fascinating video being Scottish I've tried many types of whisky as well as Irish whiskey I haven't as of yet tried a Japanese one. I will definitely need to try it with that ice when I do though!

Highball's current popularity is in its second phase, the first being in the 1950s and 1960s.

Yay for a full-length video! Wow, that ninja ice seems amazing... now I want some! Is there only one guy that makes ninja ice or are their others and he's just one of them? I had no clue what a highball was until it was explained at the end... I don't really drink. 😅 I wonder how many drinks Cathy had by the end of this and if the Director made sure she got home safely afterwards, since it seemed to be night time too.

"drink responsibly" not drink responsibility xD .... one way to make the ice at home is to put clean water into something insulated, like a cooler with the lid off and let it sit in the freezer....after it's frozen, it won't be completely clear but you just cut off the part that has air bubbles or didn't freeze, it should give you a good amount similar to the amount used in the video. (it has to do with how slowly the ice forms and from one direction) I could see how blowing air on it and adding more water could make it more uniform but it's not particularly necessary to get the pure ice.

The secret is in the clean water! I installed a reversed osmosis filter that makes super clean water under my sink for exotic plants years ago, Now I use it to brew tea and coffee etc because the taste is noticeably more refined. I also use it in my air humidifiers and haven't gotten bio-goop or lime buildup in any since. And the brewer doesn't have to be descaled.

I make my ice cubes with pure high alkaline spring water, while I am not comparing it with the qualities and visual purity of ninja ice one can tell it is better than water made from our drinkable tap water in Australia. Thanks Cathy 😸, for the video. I learned something new about a favourite Japanese drink.

As a whiskey lover, the japanese highball is kinda blasphemous. 10% whiskey and 90% club soda makes for a crazy watered down whiskey experience where the whiskey is more a condiment than the base ingredient. I'd also imagine most whiskey producers are not fond of drinking it this way either.
