We need to stop even remotely validating the question of "cultural appropriation". It's a concern of mental children who have no other concepts of being a "good person" except through the policing of others.
Glad you asked a variety of people. So many young people today think that one person is always some sort of "elected representative" of all people who look like them.
When me and my friends visited Japan, we rented yukata (as it was super hot outside) and the experience was so lovely! We went to a place called Okamoto Rentals in Kyoto and were able to choose from a bunch of different patterns and designs. I was a smidge more limited as a 5'8 plus-size woman but my friends had the whole store to choose from. There were also hair accessories and bags to borrow on our walk through Gion. We're headed back to Japan in February and planning to do the full kimono experience in the cooler weather <3 Im looking forward to it!
As someone from the united states, it is honestly quite suprising and interesting to learn that things everyone wears here is considered very revealing in japan. Everyone wears crop tops, skinny jeans, leggings, short skirts and short shorts, tank tops, ect. And its almost weird to not dress like that in the summer, in the winter youll still find some people in crop tops lol
I am from Hungary and I think most of the things listed are annoying too. It’s really just common sense. The others are traditional things, like chopsticks, that is a forgivable mistake. We have been to Japan twice and tried to follow the rules there. And I think it is true for every other country. It is not impossible ;)
It makes me so sad to hear that several of the girls, who are quite petite, think they are not skinny enough for japanese society so they're not confident in themselves :( They're all so beautiful!
I struggled my last two years of high school. Just wasn’t learning what I was interested In which was Marine Biology. My little brother however was bored with school, he took the GED his junior year, passed with flying colors. The day after he got his results dropped out and dad put him in college for Aeronautical Engineering and when he finished he joined the Navy…
I won't say EVERYONE in the west are very accepting of all body types. Body positivity is still a hot topic and always a start of flame wars on youtube channel or twitter. But it is much better in some people trying to understand people who are only super slim and Swole
do regular Japanese guys do "nampa", I got the impression most guys doing nampa in Tokyo are SCOUTS doing it as a job to recruit women into 'nightlife' work.
Japan uses an ugly AF TB vaccine. Why? I think most countries that use this vaccine use one that just leaves one medium size scar. Not totally pleasant looking. But even if it's done properly people have TWO "tic tac toe" marks on their arms into their late 20s. And whoever administers usually doesn't even bother to line it up properly so they're usually crooked. Giving someone a "tattoo" for 2-3 decades of their life and can't even line it up straight. I don't know how much of a factor this is, but if I was selling fashion in Japan I'd be selling clothes that hide those marks.
For Japanese women in Tokyo it’s apparently not acceptable to be "easy" on a street during daytime. But it’s acceptable to be easy at night at an izakaya by getting drunk to death and behaving obscenely. Japan is amazing
