The reason why Air Crash Investigation remade their JAL123 episode is because National Geographic no longer has access to ACI’s old seasons. In addition, they want to recreate the episodes from old seasons in 4k resolution.
@@martins.2100I do not know either. I read from some comments saying that Nat Geo “lost their rights” to the old seasons of Air Crash Investigation. None of these comments explains the reason for this.
@@orvinkent7600 nah they put the planes everytime their try to animate a plane in a airport cuz they don't have time to make real planes in accurate time and place
you can manage without a vert stab. the catastrophic failure was that they lost most of their control surface hydraulics. they were more or less flying with engine thrust alone
It’s really a beautiful recording. Those guys were absolute heroes and they really did save so many lives in such a dire situation. Had the emergency crews taken it seriously there would have likely been many more survivors. Which is CRAZY! They crashed into a mountain!!! That recording and even reading the transcript makes me emotional
In August 2022, a construction worker found an airliner oxygen mask, which is later believed to be from JAL123. He found it not so far away from where JAL123 crashed. The oxygen mask was probably blown away from the crash site by some strong winds.
This looks 100% better than the last animation I saw of this disaster. It’s sad such an incident had to end as ‘the worst single aircraft crash’ in history. *R.I.P to the pilot’s, you all fought to the end…*
Nope, they get the crash animation wrong in this one. They get the most basic thing wrong, they show the plane land on its belly when it landed upside down. They also fail to show the remaining 3 engines, the horizontal and vertical stabilizer separate from the plane after it struck the ridge.
I still remember watching Gohan-Chan’s entire video of the last 32 minutes of FDR data from JAL123. It’s unbelievable how the pilots could fly this damaged plane for so long.
Ron Schleede the investigator from the NTSB said in the interview at Air Crash Investigation that the pilots miraculously manage to control the airplane with engine power only but it kept circling and circling and worked it's way into the mountains and it became impossible for the pilots to land the aircraft. There was no real alternative except to fly and hope for some miracle which never occurred.
One of the most saddest airplane crashes, The pilots did everything they could to save the plane, its a miracle 4 people survive the crash tbh. The crews of Jal 123 fought hard, 4 simulation of the same run was done, none of them can land or even keep up with them in the air for more than 20min.
I wouldn't say no miracle occurred. 4 people lived, which is insane. Actually more than that, but the rest died on the side of the mountain before help arrived. Rescuers said if they'd have gotten there sooner more would've lived.
@@pvp_demigod4022 Since the asymmetrical flaps finally led to JAL123’s fate, JAL123 could have flown longer if that particular failure wasn’t present. However, I do not know if they could have ever landed safely. The captain preferred to return the plane to Haneda airport, but the out-of-control plane turned away from the direction they aimed for, and then the plane flew into the mountainous areas. I’m not sure where else could the plane have landed, but I think during their last moments they were aiming to land the plane at Yokota Air Base. Yokota Air Base was in contact with JAL123 until the crash, and they were providing assistance for their emergency.
Imagine how many could've survived had United States Air Force or JSDF been able to land at the crash site. Medical staff later found bodies with injuries suggesting that people had survived the crash only to die from shock or injuries that were not tended early enough.
@@ayer2u 20 or 10, but still more than 4 because those survivors said that they could hear the screams of other survivors who later died during the night.
@@titan9259 50 people were originally injured, and the fatalities are 470. But an hour later after the rescue returned to base, 46 out of 50 died, and there are only 4 left. So the final death count is up to 520. Making it the world's worst single aircraft aviation incident in history.
@@Wearedaskullshere. It's unknown how many actually survived so one can only guess. If you count ground fatalities then American Airlines flight 11 would be the deadliest.
This animation has more quality Also shows the backstory of when the plane hit its tail on landing But Rest In Peace to the 520/524 people who died sadly *4 survivors* *520 dead* What a beautiful 747 *(Edit)*
There were photos taken inside this plane after the plane lost half of its vertical stabilizer. This same photographer also took some photos during the boarding of this flight.
@Plane'n Boom It's just my opinion but I'll state those reasons 1. The plane entered into a Fucoid Cycle (Up and down motion), which was not shown in the animation. Yhe only instance where the plane entered into that aforementioned state was in the cockpit when they showed the altimeter moving up and down 2. Right after the right wing clipped the mountain, the plane flipped inverted and crashed. However, in the animation, the plane somehow entered into a graveyard spin for a few seconds before crashing
Its only so sad that most people in the comments tend to only care for the animation and not for the dead people. So many dumb and ignorant people in your comments. Rest in Peace, all the 520 people who died in this horrible crash, may your souls live on forever ❤
@@skythenoob7848 True, the crew were AMAZING flying an uncontrollable plane for 30 MINUTES, they did their best to save the lives of passengers. To others saying "it would've been different if it turned left or headed towards nagoya" It still would've crashed. If it turned to the left, it would most likely crash into the water with no survivors remaining, and if it headed to nagoya, impossible. May the 520 souls that perished rest in peace.
For the Captain of JAL123 to keep the plane in the air for 30mins after the tail fin broke off is astounding but he couldn't save it......Rip tragic accident.
The animation is beautiful indeed, but that 747 model design looks absolutely ugly... the nose gear is too small and located too far aft, the hump looks oddly shaped, the main gears are too distant from each other, and the JAL logo on the tail is too small. But of course, this doesn't affect the quality of the crash animation
The crew of JAL123 didn’t give up instantly, instead they fought the out of control plane and tried to spark hope, but the spark didn’t survive and grow. However, it sparked history. May the crew and hundreds of passengers rest in peace
This is one of the saddest disasters I have ever seen, because no one had any influence on it and they could not do anything about it, but they still fought until the end 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. In my opinion, it would have worked if the flaps worked properly.
The pilots tried so hard too keep flying but couldn’t hold much longer RIP the mountain they crashed into Takamagahara means the world of Heaven and that’s were the passengers went
Its crazy how 4 people survived the crash , it lost its tail , crashed the wing to the mountain , slammed the aircraft to the mountain and exploded , thats a miracle
That's not a miracle, that's the result of the pilots' coordinated efforts to slow the descent before the crash. Also, 4 survived their injuries. Dozens of others actually survived the impact, but were not rescued and treated in time.
You like!? That thing caused this thing to crash and you’re saying that you like that how it tailstrike!? Give respect to the people bro they died because of that.
You know, the pilots did good. They tried. It’s sad to see them die but, it’s just life. You live and ya learn, it’s just called life. The dark side of life. I’ve been obsessed with planes for a long while. And I say aviation is a beautiful thing. The crashes are sad and I know most agree. But, they’re in a better place now. R.I.P pilots.
This happend on my moms 7th birthday or when she started in school… RIP to everyone who died on this flight… the pilots were also professional and almost saved the plane not only that, they also controlled it with no hydraulics and no tail, the pilots were an absolute hero for controlling it for 32 minutes, ,,its the end!‘‘ so sad…❤️

I'll admit I'm not happy with the way the Japan Airlines emblem on the tail fin was animated, but overall, I think the animation here looks quite good.
@@highinthesky4269 The flight data recorder of JAL123 revealed that the aircraft must’ve been upside-down when it crashed. When the aircraft’s right wingtip impacted the mountain ridge, the aircraft did a forward flip (the aircraft’s nose moved downward and its tail moved upward to the point the aircraft became inverted) but without altering the aircraft’s flight course. The flight data recorder stopped recording when the aircraft’s pitch angle was between -100 and -110 degrees and the aircraft’s nose was still moving downward. (Note: when the aircraft’s nose is facing completely horizontally, the aircraft’s pitch angle is 0 degrees; when the nose is facing straight down, the pitch angle is -90 degrees.) The flight data recorder ceased to record 2-3 seconds prior to the crash. These all implies that the aircraft would have been upside-down when it crashed. Other than the data from the FDR, the wreckage was another evidence to the fact that the aircraft crashed in upside-down attitude. Positions and damages of some wreckage indicated that the plane was upside-down when it crashed. It’s unknown what the aircraft’s pitch angle and bank angle exactly were at that time of the crash, because the FDR ceased to function prior to the crash. Investigators could only estimate the aircraft’s pitch angle and bank angle based on their simulations. But just as I said above, the aircraft was definitely upside-down when it crashed.

The way they animated the logo on the tail looks horrible. Beside this, the animation is better than the old one. Can’t wait to see the rest of this episode!
it still amazes me that out of all the passengers on this flight, 4 survived. i couldnt imagine the thought of being there with burns and scars, stranded on that mountain overnight.

To think that our dinner last night was the last time. There was some sort of explosion in the cabin There was smoke and we started to descend Where are we going, what will happen? Must have been the most terrifying 30 minutes of their lives. From the moment the tail broke off, the airplane going up and down, right and left and the moment of impact. My heart breaks for the passengers. :|
The boeing 747 got a tailstrike due to yoke go up that made the plane unstable and captain made the flaps go down and crashed the plane 520 Deaths and 4 survivers survived the plane crash.
