NOTIFICATION SQUAD: 10:56. Screenshot that and treasure it forever. Ryotaro may have attempted to take me out once again, but at least this time it was ridiculously fun. If you don't hear from me again, it's because I've run off to join a Drift Racing team. (Either that or I've fallen down the stairs).
“But I’ve always been very dismissive and very narrowminded, I just sort of say: “Right drifting? Isn’t that just going around a corner really fast?” But when you’re sandwiched between 2 others cars going 100mph, pressed into the back of your seat, hoping the car won’t loose control, and smoke billows in through the windows from the smoldering tires below, it’s hard to deny that drifting is one of the most exhilarating experiences you can have. And I can see now, why people obsess over it so damn much.” Never have I heard a better describtion about drifting!
I had a smile on the whole time, amazed how you managed to capture the excitement of the moment in your composition. it's honestly your most action packed video in the channel. great Job Chris!
Story time: My fiancé booked us a surprise trip to Japan - I've always wanted to go, and as such I've been following you for a long time as I love your vids! I also love cars, so I've been following Noriyaro for a long time too. When I found out about the trip I suggested to my partner that we binge your videos, but she's already seen the majority of the Tokyo/Kyoto based ones, which was a nice surprise. Yesterday, I get home from a work trip abroad and she's talking about drifting this, drifting that, so I suggested Noriyaro's content, and she surprised me for a third time! The final surprise is that thanks to this video, she found the Festival of Motorsport on the 5th April near enough to where we are staying, and that we're now going to see that too 😄 All that, you just randomly bumping into Noriyaro (though if you head to Ebisu enough it's a given 😜) - feels like stars aligning or worlds colliding. Awesome :) Anyway, cool vid as per and thanks!!
DÉJÀ VU!!! I've just been in this place before Higher on the street And I know it's my time to go Calling you and the search is mystery Standing on my feet It's so hard when I try to be me uoooh!!! DÉJÀ VU
I believe this to be a modern day form of the Shinto concept of Kami. The force of nature being physics, and drivers who beautifully play with what the world of cars has to offer it. Or at least the context in which I learned about it in snowboard seems to be very similar here.
Remember doing physics in high school I learned ABSystem that prevents car crush from drifting. And people in Japan want a car crush from drifting everyday, technology does not rescue human.
Not to forget the AE86 had, in an effort to conserve cost, been fitted with Live Axle Rear Suspension, combined with it's light weight and RWD drivetrain, this made the small corolla quite suited for drifting. This also being the plot of initial d: a kid with a small corolla beating the best drift cars with pure skill... Sorry, car nerd here
Even thou' I never did it with my car , in games achieving a drift feels amazing.Wether it is because the programmers did an amazing job at what they wanted to do or it is because of myself it doesnt matter , It felt good.
And then a side series where Ryotaro joins but only to visit and review restaurants along the way that sell risotto and call it “Risottoro Across Japan”
@@AbroadinJapan This was shot very well. Especially the drone footage. It also seems like you guys were thoroughly enjoying yourselves. Would love to see more speed and power in your videos. Maybe you should collab with James May. If you haven't heard, he has a new show about Japan on Amazon.
agreed. and easy to tell he has background in cinematography. not to dismiss his career on youtube over the years. the quality is absolutely second to none and keeps getting better. without knowing Chris personally, i'd still say he has a pretty solid work ethic, or so, to deliver quality video after video.
most non car people that make a "what is drifting" video and theyre usually trash and filled with inaccuracies and cringy stuff. This video was amazing and couldnt have shown drifting any better, everything was so well worded and concise but accurate. Amazing job Chris, ill definitely be using this video to show someone what drifting is
7:11 - "HE'S GONNA DIIIIIIII-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAIIIIIIII!" I actually LITERALLY almost passed out CACKLING at Ryotaro's unmitigated glee at the prospect of Chris's impending demise. I.... Really, REALLY needed that. ありがとうございます。
Obviously it's rather thrilling experience, but drifting on a track is actually really safe. Probably much safer than cycling across Japan with bears or eating a mountain of crispy Japanese fried chicken. 🤷♂️
I've got a brilliant idea: Put him in the passenger seat with Daigo Saito behind the wheel. In tandem drifts, he's always keeping his car as close as possible to the front car with only a couple inches to spare
@@ixm2unvrzet him to ride along with either Daigo Saito or Naoki Nakamura both those drivers are so freaking good behind the wheel and drive very close like inches car to car, would love to see Chris react incar to Naoki doing a high speed smooth burst pass or backwards entry. 😂
Big big fan of Noriyaro! This is like a crossover episode that I never expected! Big ups to Chris for showing more people what drifting is and talking about it's origins 👍🏻
The guy who made the best Eurobeat songs (Deja Vu, Running in the 90s,...), Dave Rodgers, still regularly uploads to RU-vid! That's his channel ru-vid.com/show-UCiipJgscQRIxaugbhmOsxRA
And on tonight's car show: ryotaro laughs. Chris wears a helmet and a man sells his car Chris:*does not die* Ryotaro: and on that terrible disappointment good night!
@Filip Gasic Right. I would love to get something like The Top or Night of Fire in this vid, but I understand why he wouldn't do it. Or he can use royalty-free eurobeat.
Yep, it also translates to street racing. Japanese street racers keep watch for traffic and race to improve as drivers. American street racers just do it for the thrill of disobeying the law
@@philspaghet Except it depends on the street racers. Bosozoku does it almost entirely for the thrill of breaking the law. Tbh I'm not entirely against street racing as long as they do it away from congested areas.
You are getting the wrong impression here. Your ordinary Japanese driver are one of the worse drivers I have come across. They are as bad as our drivers back home. They rarely use signals to indicate which way they want to turn at junctions. Most drivers do not observe the speed limit when passing through residential areas as they take short cuts through it. One of the biggest bad habit here is using their mobile phones while driving. I have been living in Japan for a year now and this is what I observed in my town. On the bright side, they do let pedestrians pass/cross at street crossing or at exits/entrances - that is when they are actually watching the road instead of their smart phone. Racers are better drivers than your ordinary Japanese drivers because they know it could cost them their live.
It's not everyday that Chris mentions any anime in his videos... loved the fact Initial D was brought up in this one :D and ofc, Ryotaro's expressions in this video were hilarious 😂😂
@@lorddrac_dontaskmetodance Can agree Rally has a lot of surfaces you must control. They can be grippy, they can be slippery. There are many sharp corners and lots of hairpins when rallying. Not saying that I hate drifting or I am some sort of "pro" on a chair staring at a laptop, but drifting seems to be easier compared to rallying. Just me tho.
