How nice! I saw an old documentary the other day about the ferry that used to run to the Isle of Wight in the 1960s. It too was a paddle steamer. I thought "How quaint!" and then remembered I had been on it when I was a child as that was where I lived. 😊

I never did the Jeanie Deans Jan but aye the Waverley, SS Sir Walter Scott, (both still going) and the Lady of the Loch (now a closed down immobile restaurant). My favourite Loch is Kathrine. Although, my most favourite boat ever was our local Mona Lisa cruiser boat that worked out of Anster harbour across the Firth of Forth to Isle of May, Bass Rock 1970s - 80s. I went on it every day mostly for the wages (pocket money and tips from the tourists lol) When papa was having a cuppa in the harbour office I'd stow away every day before the tourists boarded and hide until we were at sea, thought papa didn't know but of course he did it was wee, no the the size of Solo's cruisers lol. I worked for my hurls and got to be tour guide and tell the folks about Anster, Isle of May, Monks Island as it was known locally Bass Rock, the North Carr Lightship (Foghorn boat) and the Broughtyferry Lifeboat Tragedy and why the North Carr Lightship was moored at our pier then as a tourist museum and why we had a Broughtyferry Lifeboat Memorial and Remembrance garden and I always took the folks to see the memorial after we returned. Gran grounded me every day so I wouldn't go down to the pier myself but I hoofed it doon and stowed away hiding until we were at sea papa smirking saying 'on ye go' Anyway, papa would give me 50p wages a week, a lot of money in the 70s lol, and oh aye all the tips fae the tourists too hehe then once we were back in and moored up and walk to memorial garden finished and papa cleaned up we went to the cafe and got an ice drink or knickerbockerglory so he could have one, 'don't tell your gran' lol I remember seeing Weir's Way at the time and I used to poke the shells off that house with gran's pearlescent handle butter knives and gave the rest of the gang her knives too, sturdy for poking shells off walls without cutting yourself, we were brats then. This Weir's Way of Anstruther (Anster) was filmed in 1979 Solo, Tom Weir walked Scotland with a film crew doing just what you do now but you do it with a small hand held techy gadget, big massive film 🎥 then.

Carrie made us afraid to go to the prom. And Christine understood how we sometimes can form an unnatural attachment to our cars. But The Shinning was the all time scariest King movie there was. I honestly slept with the lights on for two nights!!
