Thanks for sharing. Niigata's light and dray (淡麗辛口) sake style is very easy to appreciate. I think many sake newbies would be surprised how good it tastes, especially paired with some delicious Niigata seafood.

When I was in Osaka last year my son and I went to an izakaya near where we were staying. The beer was ice cold, the people very friendly but the sake was way too smooth. After a couple of bottles we ordered some food, this is where the sake made my eyes lie to me! I thought I picked up a meatball but no it was an umeboshi! Everyone there had a good laugh even me. We went back several times but I stayed with the ice cold beer after that, lol. Love watching all your travels and have made my list of things to do on my next visit from your videos.

Great trip. Looks like you love this train, but you need a year to trying again for second time. I don't know this is same train like you taking it last year or not, but it has different livery than previous, and this time you trying it outside winter (looks like it's between Spring and Summer).

If you are going to take niche train journeys, I would like to see you take the purple train from Tokyo to Hokkaido. I'm not sure if it still runs, but it's an old train that runs from Tokyo to Hokkaido and it must take several days. I spotted it once in 2007 slowly departing from Tokyo station looking like a giant Cadbury. My wife told me it goes to Hokkaido, but there was no train tunnel back then so there must have been a ferry. I'd like to see you do that one, in your own time.

I hope you got back home, or wherever you were staying after that, all right! I never did like sake, but I'll give your recommendation a try, fruity sake it is

11000 yen for almost no food and a drink!? Crazy.

Two questions for creator and audience. In a scenario where you were the only person who booked a seat in that entire car, would you dare to sit in a seat other than the one that you booked? I am curious because japanese culture and following rules to a tee go hand in hand at times. For the audience, as foreigners knowing the culture is like this, would you sit in a different seat in that scenario? Second, the train menu stating that local and fresh ingredients are used, do you believe that "greenwashing" exists in Japan? Not to say that this particular train company is greenwashing of course. (Here's the definition of greenwashing: "Greenwashing is the act of making false or misleading statements about the environmental benefits of a product or practice.")

This train would never work out in the US because people would be fighting on the train
