DON'T make these mistakes on your trip to Japan! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5IKu7msAgFY.html Also pack these essentials: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mh4KdZgL5Rc.html
I watched so many videos before my trip to Japan. I watched this one and now while I'm here I'm watching it again. This is by far the best video! I cannot say enough how good this list is! Bring LOTS of yen and a be prepared to carry trash with you. This video will help you so much!
Finally a youtuber that talks about the lack of napkins. I've been to Japan many times and always take napkins with me. Also, the napkins can be used in the restrooms, where there are no paper towels (but the air dryers actually work well).
Some great tips in this video. Thank you. I would also add that packing some very small bin liners to put your rubbish in until you find a bin is a good idea. Also, soap is often not provided in public toilets, so keep a small bar from the hotel in your bag. An umbrella is handy all seasons to shield you from the rain and hot sun.
Yes, I had the soap and umbrella in my previous packing video, though personally I don't carry bin liners because I just eat on the train or at the convenience store, where there are always bins handy. Good share!
Thank you very much with the business card case. I paid only 12€ for 4 cases and it is very important if it rains a lot like the last week. Glad the JR Pass with the QR-Code is safe.👍
Many other people mentioned already but ones missing from this list are a small towel for drying your hands and little container of paper soap because some public washrooms won't be well equipped. Also good walking shoes especially if you are a tall girl like me you're not likely to find your size, that goes for socks too! Bag for trash as well as a portable battery bank to keep your phone powered for picture taking and maps. Also if you want to collect train stamps having a little blank notebook is also nice.
Not missing, I just covered most of these before in the previous video linked in the pinned comment. Can you not get socks in your size from Uniqlo? All my shoes I get online here, so I know all too well the size problems for tall folks.
@@japanunravelled Ah sorry I'll check out that video 😖. Not sure about Uniqlo but I've only seen one pair of mens socks that could fit me from Family Mart lol.
All great tips. My personal addition would be a portal stool. Not a full chair, but something small which collapses and can be stowed away in a backpack. Seating is at a premium in Japan and there is a lot of walking to be done.
On the clining side, i don't know if it was because i come here during the COVID (march 2023) but when i went to the public WC, nearly all the time, i couldn't find something to dry my hand after washing them. So i suggest to buy a little towel for that. It can also serve as a napkin substitute and as mentionned in the video, you will need something in that departement.
Yes, I put that in a previous packing video! It's a good thing to bring or pick up at the Daiso. Soap is (thankfully) more commonplace now, but driers/towels less so.
It wasn’t Covid, Japan seldom has hand drying paper or dryers, that’s why most Japanese army their own hand towels. Its a great idea and one I use now in the US. Many souvenir shops and other shops sell them.
I'd add one extra bag to carry your trash. Japan is a very weird place because you got to separate trash and they don't have public trash bin. So, any trash you produce away from the shop, is yours to handle. I'm talking about tissue paper, empty packages, these sorts of things.
I did figure out quickly not to just jam my rail tickets into my pocket. When I wasn't actively feeding it through gates to put it in my wallet. I snapped photos of them so I could refer to the photo for my ride details instead of pulling the ticket out of my wallet. I bought my Skyliner ticket the day before I left and that went into my wallet as well.
This is a great idea! Another option I've tried is booking the exact same car and seat if I'm using multiple shinkansen/trains. Good if you book ahead.
Wow those shoe magnets are ingenious. We will be visiting for the first time this year. I will be watching your other videos. I believe you can use the Suica Card on your phone now as well?
Rare, although one woman was attacked up Mount Hiei last summer according to this page: nonta55.com/2023/11/13/kyoto-bear/ Not sure about the boar! Stay safe!
