I decided to import this Japanese 100V 50Hz National FCL32 preheat circline fluorescent pendant fixture from Japan to use as a swag lamp for my college dorm because it looks very unique by having a louvered diffuser on it, which is something that is not usually seen with circline fluorescent fixtures. In addition, I also decided to get this fixture because even though the fixture has a 100V 50Hz HX autotransformer ballast, it works very well on North American domestic 120V 60Hz mains supplies without the need for a step down transformer due to the fact that as you increase the applied supply voltage and frequency to the ballast, its inductive properties remain virtually the same since this fixture has no capacitors in the circuit. This means that the lamp current remains the same even on a 120V 60Hz mains supply despite the ballast being designed for eastern Japan’s domestic 100V 50Hz mains supplies. Later on in the video, I installed a North American 32W circline fluorescent lamp in the fixture to show proof that they are the same size as Japanese FCL32 circline fluorescent lamps. Sadly, I don’t have any European 32W circline fluorescent lamps in my collection even though I know that they are also the same size as the aforementioned circline fluorescent lamps as well but was not able to show proof.

Well as far that i know is for Philips EU variant of the fc8 T9 (22W) the europe Philips is TL-E 22W 840 12T9 and16T9 resp 32W and the largest 40W although there is onRU-vid a 60W variant running on a beefy 58/65W choke ballast😅😊

Interestingly, the 32W lamps and the Japanese 30W energy saver counterparts are all virtually interchangeable throughout the world in terms of size and electrical characteristics while the Japanese 20W lamps are their 18W energy saver counterparts are the same size as and electrically similar to the 22W lamps used in most other countries in the world. However, the Japanese 40W lamps and their 38W energy saver counterparts have a slightly smaller diameter than the 40W lamps used in most other countries. It is certainly interesting to know that the British 60W circline fluorescent lamps are the exact same physical size as the 40W circline fluorescent lamps used outside of Japan even though their power ratings and electrical characteristics are different. Although the 60W circline lamps might be considered the highest power circline lamps for use on magnetic ballasts, Japan does have the 68W FHD70, 83W FHD85, and 97W FHD100 double tube circline lamps for use on dedicated electronic ballasts only. Additionally, the largest circline fluorescent lamp in terms of diameter that I know of are the Japanese 41/58W FHC41 circline lamps, which have a diameter of 447mm while the 40W circline lamps outside of Japan have a 400mm diameter instead.
