@Wartalesuncharted as much as I enjoy these and learning about history. One must not over do with death and destruction. Your channel deals in history real young men on both sides suffered and died. The USS Quincy, CA-71, a heavy cruiser. Launched in late 1943, spent 1944 in the European theater including Normandy and Dragoon. Sent to the Pacific in 1945 where it participated in the Okinawa campaign.

Yes. It was named after the one mentioned in the video, USS Quincy (CA-39), that was sunk in the Battle of Salvo Island Aug. 9, 1942.

The Japanese were confounded by the Navy of a country with twice its population, 26 times the size, 47 times as many factories and 500 times as much fuel? The “Keep fighting until all of us are killed off” mentality was not a formula for success.
