And rightfully so, Americans on the internet want to act as if they are the police of the internet

Knowing Twitter mocked someone for his stuff getting destroyed disgusts me. If someone destroyed my modest collection, I'd demand payment. No less that guy.

I feel so bad for that man. Something he loved was ruined.

The massive collection being destroyed, is not only heartbreaking, but it's also horrific to see the amount of extremely limited edition figures just completely destroyed and knowing they will never be replaced. That kid should be punished as harshly as possible and the parents better be paying up the full amount. Once again twitter shows it's true colors by being the most heartless, unapologetic, and hateful platform in the known world.

More and more people realize how fucked up those 'American Yakuza' and now they are not feared to stand up for themselves. It was so satisfying and refreshing.

I think the whole western attacks against a character holding hands with a younger character can be linked to terminally online people linking physical touch to a sexual connotation. Especially out west where everything needs to have a sexualization to it. 2 guys hug? Must be gay, girl and guy sitting next each other close watching something on a phone? Must be dating or at least in love. Nothing can be platonic it has to immediately link to mindless love and lust. So when those terminally online people see a character hold hands with a younger character it is sexual instead of platonic. Perfect example is the whole Anya blushing situation. Instead of it being just a happy child with their adoptive parent western Twitter was claiming it was to sexual because people only blush when in love or lust. Not saying thats the whole reason but I feel there's a good argument for such.

Twitter users need to understand that Japan has their own culture.

As someone who is also in the hobby in figure collecting, that story destroyed my soul.

I'm so happy that Japanese artists are fighting back against the twitter freaks. For too long they've been disrespecting Japanese works and their creators. The best way to deal with them is to support anything they hate.

It's not even petty anymore, it's just childish. I think it's time to bring back "grow up" over "touch grass". The block AND mute function exists, but those people choose to be self-inserts to make something out of nothing.

TIL: Many Japanese inspired games and genres have been in a lot of ways disowned by Japanese developers in favor of west inspired games due to a lot of hate from western markets. This same kind of thing is happening in Anime and Manga... Japan and its creative community must not fall to the idiocracy that is twitter and western sensibilities...

That uncle, no matter how much it hurts, needs to play the long game. Make the kid, not the parents, pay everything back then while the kid is gone return the favor. Show him exactly what happens when you destroy someone's hobby. Guy probably relies on that hobby to relax after a hard day at work.

The model story really pained me, because model kit/miniature building is also a hobby of mine. It’s one of the few things I can legitimately enjoy and not care about the results being judged by others because of a lack of skill. I'm glad more Japanese artists are pushing back against these twitter freaks. The whole point of a slice of life anime is for it to be relatable. Hence why its such a popular genre. It's just nice to turn off your brain for a while and just enjoy something. Plus cute girls doing cute things is right up my alley lol.

30K worth of destroyed figures is beyond rough. I remember long ago having family tell me I should let the kids play with mine, they'd get absolutely torn to shreds and never got replaced either due to massive inflation over the years (something that cost $10-30 getting anywhere from one to two extra zeroes attached) or they're just impossible to find now. Numerous Mobile Suit in Action and old Megazords among other things forever gone. I feel his pain.

... They really don't understand slice of life. It's the japanese version of a telenovela or daily soap, but (most times) for male otakus. That's why most people don't even complain when the SoL Anime only has 12 episodes, as long as the story has some kind of good send off. When they want to watch Animes with huge story lines,they should watch Psycho Pass.

Personally I don’t care what someone ships. However I do care about the people who can’t distinguish reality from fiction. That mentality is incredibly dangerous. The shippers I’ve come across understand that the characters they ship aren’t real. If you are actually attacking real world people to protect a 2-D character that doesn’t feel actual human emotion you’re a weirdo. Let people ship what they want it’s not serious.

I know very little about this whole "proship" stuff. The most I knew was that people liked to make relationships in their minds between characters in *insert media here* and those who agreed with them made communities around such topics. Seemed harmless to me; I've "shipped" a few folks before myself but never felt the need to find a community for it. But then these groups began attacking each other over which "ship" was better, which I find is just the most absolutely terminally online behavior you can think of. Glad to see Japanese artists aren't having any of that. I swear the more I see on social (and let's face it - off social media too at this point), the more I wish I wasn't part of the west. As for slice of life...I mean I don't watch much of these, but aren't they supposed to be as the name stated - Slice Of Life? As in, nothing truly zany happens? Just people going about their lives in a fictional world? If you're not into that, don't watch. That article is so clickbait. And wow, I feel so bad for the uncle. That's...wow. Not surprised Twitter attacked him for it. Not surprised at all. People on that cesspool of a site literally cheer when they see vids of kids beating up teachers for doing their jobs, so yeah - not surprised. It doesn't take a genius to realize if a person would cut your friendship off over fictional characters then they weren't a friend worth keeping anyways. As a lurker I appreciate Twitch considering us viewers because sometimes you just have nothing to say at least without parroting everyone else, which is a difficulty sometimes when you want to think of something somewhat original but there's only so many ways you can say you enjoy the content without worry that it's just a basic copy and paste thing. Like sometimes I'll snarkly reply to a sentence/line someone said mostly in regards to like ASMR or some reviews/retrospectives.

Man model kits are no joke, I still have a mini heart attacks from a piece getting stuck when doing leg joints. Those parts are the worst when doing the model kit. For some reason, they always get stuck. These kits ain't like Legos.

Thankfully I was never aware of how the western Omori fandom is because I had been avoiding content about it for years to avoid spoilers for when I do eventually play but it just reminds me of Undertale's fandom. A really well done indie game with a toxic western fan base behind it. And it's so funny to me that the Japanese artist here was harassed for drawing a ship that was HINTED AT HEAVILY IN THE GAME. The game makes it expressly clear these two had a crush on each other and hell, even characters younger than them would also have their own crushes. Omori 'fans' but they played with a blindfold fr But again. PLAY OMORI. SO DAMN GOOD.

My fav genre is slice of life (very character oriented. Bocchi is completely relatable in mental health struggle.) and horror.

I respect proshippers because they aren’t afraid to indulge in what *they* enjoy. for the man who had his figurine collection destroyed, the kid's actions were akin to a spoiled child. Still, regardless if he's spoiled or not, the responsibility should always fall to the parents, and the man should have a right to accuse the parents of damage to his property and he should be compensated. I hate this trend especially in Asia, when your relatives or your friends do something that damages your life in some way, they can get away with it because we're afraid of losing family ties and especially when the tie is between a rich family.

There's only one thing that might make me an Elon Musk fan... Destroying Twitter once and for all. Not even need to close it. Just make it irrelevant.

I find it stupid that people asking what the uncle did to get to get his nephew that angry with him. In regards to the destroyed collection, I remember seeing that on the Digimon Subreddit last week with a comment listing the damages mentioned in the original post and the aftermath. After a bit of digging, the destruction includes: -38 figurines -41 models -The sofa -PC and keyboard no longer working due to having juice spilled on them -Books related to hobbies and work; no numbers given but supposedly quite costly and needs to be replaced due to needing some of those books for work related reasons -What was originally posted as a "Sandboard" being left in bad condition, but may be a mistranslation of "Soundboard" or "Sound Card" -1 cracked Blue Ray disc -11 scratched Blue Ray discs -20 Blue Ray discs that now skip due to damage Sadly and unsurprisingly, many of the destroyed items were limited edition, first edition, and/or just no longer available, meaning a lot of that collection can't just simply be replaced. As for the child's parents, the father is said to have recognized a portion of the damages and gave 50,000 yen ($366.74 USD) while the mother proceeded to freak out and start arguing, which I'm assuming was an argument over why the parents didn't need to pay for their child's damages. The mother's parents then stepped in, apologized on their child's behalf, and offered to pay 4 million yen ($29,225.20 USD) in damages, including emotional damage. The child ended up in serious trouble (I doubt by the parents if their reaction is anything to go by), will not be receiving any gifts/money for birthdays, Christmas, or New Years for a long time, and was sent off to their paternal grandparents' house for re-education.

I come home, exhausted from uni or work. I don't want to watch action or drama, I just want a comfy show to relax my brain. And anime is the only medium that can do it well, because if real humans do what slice of life characters do it's either boring or cringe.

I've always hated shipping in general. To where they just attack people who don't follow their headcanon. Don't know when it got extremely bad the way it is now. But I've seen it before it got to the insane point it is now cause it always been like that in fandoms to a degree but it is way over the top now. Main reason why I don't outright seek to join communities in general where there will be more than likely large shipper wars cause it just takes you out of it. So I don't seek fanarts a lot of the time anymore for certain topics, but if I see it, I'll still probably give it a like, or if artists I follow draw it I leave it at that pretty much. Don't do deeper dive interactions anymore due to the shippers in fandoms.

Personally when I watch streams I am a lurker. I just don't feel like talking into a void, which is going to happen when a streamer gets too big because they won't be able to respond to 100.000 viewers all saying stuff at the same time and the viewers themselves often don't respond either. Also with a lot of viewers the chat often flies by so fast even in slow mode that you can't read it anyway so that is why just watching the stream is better for me.

These people can go after themselves. Somehow they can be the police of the internet, and yet their actions aren't deemed bully, while not violating the anti-bullying policy or anti-harassment policies. Somehow they're going around like they are the administrators, who are immune from all the rules. Who can harass, suspend, or get someone kicked off of a platform, just because they don't agree with or do not like someone. How is it fair to those who are playing by the rules.
