I feel like these should be an actual profession with world wide contests, dedicated schools and careers, not just some street stalls. This talent deserves to be appreciated and well paid.
When my sister and I were children, I remember my parents buying us candy like this at a festival held at a shrine. It was in the shape of Pikachu and a swan. It was so beautiful and cute that we couldn't eat it and we kept it for a while. Good memories of my childhood. I am very happy that such craftsmen still exist! (I'm Japanese, so my English isn't perfect, but I felt nostalgic after watching this video, so I left a comment😖)
As an artist. I wanna let others know this: if we make something for someone we want them to enjoy it. If i was able to make these fish and cat candies, and i put maybe an hour or two into making food or art, i would want you to eat and enjoy. Most mothers and fathers slave for hours over a stove only for the food to be eaten within several minutes. Just enjoy it. I would be so sad and disappoimted if someone didnt eat candy i made. Wether it took hours or minutes. Candy making is hard work but enjoyable when you see smiling faces consuming something i wanted to make for them to enjoy and consume.
What's with the whole only for food to be eaten within several minutes. I'm naturally a fast eater, if I eat slowly, it means the food tastes bad whether you slaved or not but if I eat quickly, then I absolutely love the food and can't wait for the second bite. Also, why'd you have to start with as an artist? Who threw up and proclaimed you an artist? This is common sense, no need to be so deep.
I'm finding it hard to believe that you are an artist, sorry. You sound more like a cake decorator. I think artists would want people to enjoy their work whichever way they feel like.
I love when the gentelman who created the candy art passes them off the lady to paint. She only adds to their beauty. Both are excellent at what they do.
ATHRENTHE2ND His name Is Tezuka Shinri and his work really very beautiful. Seen him resently working in London ( was visiting Japan House with exhibition 😍)
When you said that I just pictured an indie maybe a slice of life short film of a relationship between the sculptor/painter of a shop that makes these. I'd be so down to hear some philosophical metaphors while they're creating them. But you worded it so beautifully, definitely a thumbs up :D
Столько доброты на лице человека дающего такие вещи,хочется его обнять,вот что надо людям сейчас смотреть а не войны и кровь! Мир люди вам и леденцов в виде животных!)))
When I was in Japan I witnessed one of the cleanest cultures in the world and I did not doubt to eat everything that crossed my path The taste, dedication and cleanliness was the best. I totally love this art and haters please get a life!!!💕💕💕💕
I don't know why Chinese always dislike Japanese , Japan street is very clean and polite ,but china..even in the big city like Shanghai ,the public toilets are very disgusting, ppl always take loudly and the street is quite dirty
This reminds me of my childhood me and my dad would go out together and he would buy these for me, from the side of the road. I remember these guys who'd sell these were very poor but were so much skilled. I can't find these in Pakistan anymore. It wasn't this advance they only had three colors sugar candy white, pink and green. But they would make anything out of it💕
I think it would be more rude to the artists not to eat it. They spent so much time and talent to make something which they hoped would make people happy. I think I’d be more hurt if people didn’t want to eat the candy I spent a lot of time making for them.
I love how after each one he makes, when he's finished with it, he taps on it and smiles like he's thinking to himself, "Yeah, I made that masterpiece. I'm awesome."
En efecto él es feliz haciendo su arte, y esto se ve reflejado en su entorno, todos lo percibimos. Imagínense un mundo lleno de personas haciendo su arte, oficio o profesión siendo felices de verdad!
When I was a child, candy craftsman came to sell beautiful candies for children. The old man made crane, swan, unicorn and etc… I liked to watch it. I felt it was magic☺️ nice memory.
This is why I adore Japan. Making amazing things quickly but somehow with all accuracy and precision. They don't look like they're being forced to do any of it.
@@dream-lh4pc But most people in other countries are too lazy to do that, especially Americans. They can't even make a burger right. A lot of times, my burgers are floppy or burnt.
@@dream-lh4pc you sound like you don't know the difference between Americans, America and Murica. jokes aside, compare to Americans' candies, Japanese' are way more aesthetic
To Those Who Asking Why They Don't Wear Gloves: The Japanese are so fastidious about hygiene that they cook barehanded. We believe well-washed hands are cleaner than gloves and thus have prevented food-poisoning for centuries. Also, these food artists including sushi chefs prefer bare hands for more subtle and elaborate expression.
@@yvettiecoot and I've never seen food poisoning because bare hands! I believe the chef know enough how to keep their hygiene as they know wearing gloves won't help them shaping the candy
I know some people wear gloves handle food. Go to restroom wearing them , do not remove or wash hands or gloves. Then go back to make your food. Also drop on floor pick up put on. So it is not gloves less people you need to worry about. Is people with no hygiene . washing hands , work areas, utensils if clean you don't need gloves .
Awwwwww~~ those little things he makes are very cute!! I love to have some~ he seems enjoying his art work and looks very sincere.. coloring is also very nice~~😁😄
IM AFRAID THAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR SAYING...HARIGATO MOZAI MASYTAK? PLS DONT JUDGE CUZ I DONT SPEAK IN OTHER LANGUAGE BESIDES BAHASA MELAYU AND ENGLISH..THANK YOU AND THATS ALL I CAN SAY CUZ..IM OUT OF IDEAS..BYEEEE
@@Super_Mia Not true. Do you know the suicide rate in Japan is lower than that of the U.S.? Japanese take pride in detailed artistic works. Candy art has a long history there.
I think I could bring myself to eat the dog and cat ones as, yes, cute, but simple. The frog and the goldfish however, I seriously don't think I could eat those! They were gorgeous!
@@Gr3nadgr3gory I'm with you. Clay is clay. Easy to sculpt with. Sugar glass, on the other hand - all I could think was "Ouch" and whether he got blisters from the hot sugar!
Candy making like this and glass blowing seem so similar to me. Both are beautiful and take so much skill. I’m amazed he is working without heat proof gloves , hot sugar can burn terribly.
Amazing!!!!!!! I quit eating PeepEaster Marshmallows long time ago because they are/were so cute. I think I would never eat any of your candy because they are really a piece of art. Thank you. (Enid Phillips from Houston, Texas, USA)
