Kuma's Kitchen thanks for joining me on this adventure, Kevin! People don’t know that we filmed that a year ago BEFORE we went to Nara to film the Street Food episode there, the one where the deer attacked me and we ate deer poo! 🤣
I like your viewpoint. Yes, far too much precious food is wasted in the world. Canning and/or flash freezing could preserve a lot of food that would otherwise be wasted.
@Long duk dong the glass doesn't affect the taste directly, but rather indirectly in 2 ways (I have 8 years of beverage coordination experience in 5 star hotels and above) - 1st when you pour, the shape physics affect the thickness and firmness of foam, and the foam, in joint with the glass surface area, affects the temperature of beer which changes the perceived taste. And 2nd, glass, cans and ceramics have a distinct smell that also affect your perception of beer. I personally would not serve any alcoholic beverage in fortified acrylic drinkware, for example
Osaka represent. As someone who grew up there, we pride outselves on being the gluttons of Japan. Even random street vendors sell excellent tasting food.
@@ugn154 awkwardness is always a better option for every customer rather than a loud, rude and pushy waiters. At least quietness shows respect and more professionalism.
Definitely would give this place a try. 👍 I went to a famous canned seafood bar in Lisbon, Portugal where a wall is lined with scores of different tinned seafood. You make your selections, take them to the counter and the staff will plate them usually throwing on some parsley or chives and garnish with lemon wedges. Comes with sliced baguette. Cool concept and very lively due to location.
That would be heaven for me as well. I'd go back till I tried all the ones I wanted. All that is lacking is a bowl of steamed rice to go with the food as they are generally quite salty.
Your videos always look so professional,it feels like professional crew is with you.Gives the natural feeling of being there as well :) quality content as always Sir John. :)
Your channel encouraged me to return to college. It's been a dream of mine to live in Japan and well, every resource I've found said that a college degree is the bare minimum to stand a chance. I gotta thank you for your content, good stuff!
Funnily enough, some of the best seafood in Spain is caught at the peak time of the year and canned in premium olive oil, or hand made sauces, the biggest sweetest mussels, premium tuna belly and anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea ect. In a lot of cases some of these products are considered among the best seafood you'll get anywhere in the world as the canning process actually develops the flavor and people (and high end restaurants) pay a huge price for them. Given the level of detail, expertise and pride that seems to go into everything the Japanese people do, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a similar story there with some of those products, particularly the seafood ones.
Thanks for the video, John! Could you please make a video about MRE (army field ration, meal-ready-to-eat) of Japanese Army? It would be interesting to heard your opinion about its taste. :)
I was just about to refer you to gundog or steve. Just an educational thing, which you would probably have known by now. Japan has a defense force that is purely for self-defense in case of an incoming invasion. It can't be used to advance the country's foreign interests.
Thank you for the explanation.:) Japan people now is not the invaders, but the progressors. Last year we received lot of medical stuff from them for our Central military hospital (absolutely for free). We appreciate that very much.
This morning I thought it's been a while since I saw a video of yours and only a few hours later you uploaded one ... thank you I really enjoy your videos
The quality, relaxed video style while keeping informative makes this the number one channel for me. Only in Japan, please continue making the videos and i will be watching them, over and over!
just came from my first trip to japan a few days ago and i've been binge watching your content. you seem like an amazing person, i love your energy and the information you're giving. thank you! wish you all the best in 2018.
Actually, this was a view suggestion about 2 years ago! I reached out the to company for permission to film, scouted it and thought - whoa - this is cool! Glad Kevin could join me for another food adventure :) so we can thank a viewer comment for this episode. (Which is why I love the comments!)
Love your videos!!! I literally live vicariously through you and your experiences. I DREAM to visit Japan. It's the only country I want to visit!!!! This is a fantastic video!! :)
Thanks!! I want to surprise my husband on his 40th so I am saving like crazy as we speak!! He and I both dream to go there. AS much as I want to travel to other places, Japan is the ONE place I MUST travel to!
Even the canned food in Japan is tasty... that's when you know their food is top notch. The canned food you get here in Australia I personally never eat except for canned tuna and soups, because most canned foods here aren't that nice, or at least I haven't found any that I like a lot.
I think its very hard to actually compare a restaurant based on canned food versus say supermarket canned food. The restaurant will only produce as much cans as it needs to stay stocked for a short period of time where as supermarket canned food was prepared with the idea it was going to sit on the shelves for months if not years.
I don't know about Japanese food in Japan but when i ordered Japanese food here in India, man it was not good. May be one day i will try it in Japan :)
pukachupenn, holy mother of god, Japan has everything in a can! They sell those in vending machine I won't ever question japan's vending machine superiority anymore
Typically you wouldn't be sharing food between people, so you wouldn't need a plate, paper or otherwise. Just hold the can in one hand, chopsticks in the other, and you're all set.
Your content is really enjoyable! You were given such an amazing opportunity to actually go to Japan, well at least in my perspective. I really hope you grow famous as your channel is really underrated.
Loving your videos and I would never have thought that great looking food and from what it sounds like delicious as well could ever come out of a can. Happy New Year John and congrats on passing 600K.
Hello John, and happy new year from Trinidad, these videos you are making, are encouraging me to visit Japan next year but it only for 3 to 5 days stay, but really thank you for the videos that you making :)
Omg THIS MUSIC IS AWESOME!!! 1:41 😻😻😻😻 I had a double take on that crab display moving! I couldn't believe it. Canned food scares me if I can't read the label or know the expiration dates on them. Interesting visit I have to say.
