I have that book, too. I have a suggestion for you, although it's probably 5 years too late. Take it to Office Depot and have them spiral-bind it, which will let the pages lie flat. I've done this occasionally with knitting books and cookbooks.
Thank you for the review of this book. I just bought it, and it is definitely the next level. I will join the Facebook group and hope to see you all there.
Very useful review as this book is on my Amazon wishlist. It might seem extreme, but after what you've said, I think I will cut the pages out and put them in a binder. Then I can pull out the picture, chart and stitch descriptions individually as I work. Can't do that easily with a standard book, even if spiral bound.
I bought the book and I love the designs however, some symbol explanations I still don't understand. Would you be so kind as to make a video where you explain the "guide to symbols chart". Or at least a few ones who need an illustration to be explain. Only if you are able, I know is time consuming. Thanks anyways.
It’s a great idea! The title ‘the guide to the symbols’ is really good. I thought about doing a video for each individual symbol but I couldn’t figure out a title for each symbol that people could search for. But one video that goes over some tips to the symbols that may work :)
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It has really helped to explain how this book works. I did buy the book a few months ago and I agree it has beautiful stitch patterns, but needed that extra explanation. Now I can't wait to give it a try.
I’m so glad it was helpful! I’ve had a request to do a video on how to read the charts from this book, I’m going to try to film that and post it next week. Thanks for watching!
Wow you are brilliant and you found an error 😩😳 😂if you could start at the beginning of the book and teach us with real time knitting would be so wonderful! Watch me knit we are desperate to use our Japanese bible!!! Bring us up to your level ❤️
I can't find a description of the knitting action for a frequently used symbol in her books; / or \ . I have the Knitting Patterns 500 book and on pg 16 at the bottom there is a diagram of the symbols but no action indicated. It looks like a k2tog and a k2togtbl but no corresponding yo to keep the stitch count. Would love hear your interpretation. thanks so much.
I had a question how do you work the back side of the patterns like when you reach the end of the row and work your way back up because all the patterns I start start off weight but somehow get messed up when working the back side or the work so it's very difficult me to complete any of these patterns
It sounds like you might be knitting the wrong stitches on the back. The patterns are written so they can be worked both flat or in the round. For example the pattern I’m currently knitting, is in the round so I knit every other row but if I was knitting it flat I would purl every other row. The pattern symbols will say something like knit on the right side; purl on the wrong side (back side). In the example I gave I’m knitting in the round so Im only working the right side. If I was working the pattern flat, every other row would be worked on the back side. In that case the symbol would mean I purl.
@@birdsongdesigns9338 thank you so much I will try that and let you know if I still end up getting stuck or not and thank you for responding so quickly
Chould you do a video of how to make the very first pattern in the book I've tried to figure out how to do any pattern in this book and I still cant figure it out I feel like I am trying to read alien language lol

So how come you have the book but can’t show us how to do individual patterns and what the symbols mean because to be real with you no one wants to watch a review of a book they all ready have you should show how to do each pattern in the book and explain how each symbol in the one pattern that would be a useful video I don’t need a review I need someone how know how to actual do the patterns and that can help because for some reason you can only find review and for the people who bought the book that stupid because when you look up a pattern it’s to get help with it not to review it
It’s not really her job to show you how to do each individual pattern. They show how to do the stitches in the front and back of the book too. Maybe try searching for a video on how to read charts? That might help
