In this episode, I air layer one of my new Japanese Maples trees. This one was destined to be a shohin tree, so I'm going to see if we can salvage the top half.

I’m diggin the leaf size, that’s a slick tree. Great walk/talk through on the Airlayer. Lookin forward to the harvest!! I’ve never worried about the Airlayer being vertical; that is interesting to consider.

Just middle of waching this but did You just tighten the wire on airlayer 1 to the spot where the roots are supposed to grow? It seems You did, the omportant part is not the area that You scored up but the area abowe that, that is from where the roots cone out. There was rooting powder there too, hope it worked.

I did not tighten the wire over that part very hard. It’s holding plastic in place but won’t stop flow of cells. The bottom wire was tightened the most. The middle one just to keep closed.

@@DavesBonsai You can even makr the whole thin again if there is only hours of making it. I have not even ever made an airlayering, but I have read a lot about it and watched some videos too. Dependin on the weather, it can be much more important to make sure that water does not evaporate or get in from the top than preventing it to drip down. What ever species or sub species Your maple is it clearly have really good genes what comes to a leaf size 😍
