@@mattbrennan647 nice idea. I have some beni maikos, but there's no way to get the trunks through a washer or tile, so I think I'm going to try using wire tourniquets.

It was awesome to see this iconic maple at the National show, and comforting knowing it's in Aki's care at @MomijiEn ! I received a nice kabudachi Red Sentinel JM pre-bonsai from Ed Clark this winter, and I'm excited to get to work bringing it into form. Thanks for the inspiration! Already seeing some great maples in your Kyoto location!🪴🍁

Your tree remits me of the mother trees you would see in the middle of a field. The many would disquilifie for lumber so it would be left to spreed its seeds over the field to reforest theat field, or be a place where the farmer to dump rocks.

Hello, Great video as always- Thank you. Quick question: Can we do this kind of work in December, knowing the cold weather is coming or is it better to do this in the end of Feb / March? Even with cut paste, I always assumed to wait for begining of spring?

This series is really interesting. Is there a hole through the centre of these trees? If not, how do you prevent water pooling that would cause rot?

With the copper brace, use your pliers and wire cutters, hold both ends and twist. It will work harden the copper better for this exact purpose, then just fix the points if needed.

Bjorn I have a question regarding the use of Lime Sulphur, did you make it yourself or is it commercial? Watching the video I have the feeling that its texture is very thick and its color is practically white like milk. My Lime Sulphur however is orange in color. I really liked the technique of applying it to the trunk to age it. Best regards and thanks for the video.
@angryzombie8088
@angryzombie8088 Год назад
10/10 I dont understand the Japanese aesthetic choice of putting lime sulfur to whiten their tree. But then you mention about covering up the old scar on the tree. It reminds me of Geisha that wears those white make-up. Maybe thats why.

I imagine Deshojo, shin Deshojo or a Beni Maiko would be superb for that. They have the vivid red leaf and the bark tends to be lighter grey as they age - though often helped with jin fluid/lime sulphur.

Most deciduous trees will fuse but JMs seem to fuse faster than most for some reason. I think because they are pretty vigorous.
