Charlie Morgan! this is just awesome! This is so inspiring. I can only imagine the work and effort to just keep this looking like this. I appreciate your love for these JM's. This is the art of God. I wish I could save this video and just play it when I need a lil 'couragement.
Two of my favorite Japanese maples are Purple Ghost and Beni Maiko. Purple Ghost gives a scarlet red display of the big leaves in the spring, then turns into full green in the summer, then turns back to red for the fall display. Beni Maiko also gives scarlet red display in spring, but the leave are tiny in spring. Then it turns into beautiful pinkish/green in mid spring and fades into green in summer, before finally turning orange/red in fall.
No worries we like the birds and water background. This is so amazing! I want one Japanese Maple looking for inspiration and what type I should get and found your channel.
Incredible garden, work of art ! Absolute perfection, better than any luxury mansion. When you think how people cut trees to put pavement and leave nothing in their garden .... then you see your garden, what a messed up mentality to destroy trees and nature in favour of concrete.
Hi. I have a question. Is it possible to create a new variety by mixing 2 varieties. Can maples cross breed/sex? How are all these different varieties created?
Youve probably been asked this many times but Im going to ask you anyway. If you could only choose one Japanese Maple and one conifer which ones would they be? Love your videos! Great job and beautiful trees!
There are too many different locations and seasons to have one favorite Japanese maple. . Mikawa yatsubusa and Amber Ghost two at the top but Geisha Gone Wild, Shin deshojo, red Dragon, Baldsmith, Red Cloud, Shira Aureum and others all are the best in the right location
@@amazingmaples love watching all the videos so post them as you can. We just planted several in our landscaping as well this fall. Currently have about 50 varieties of conifers and maples in our backyard landscaping.
I'm in Southern California, US. I have a front yard with 2 queen palms that I don't like. I had them removed yesterday n planned to put a maple tree there but don't know what's best kind of Maple tree that fits the climate and the size of my yard. Can you suggest me one. Note that the yard has lawn with sprinkler that runs twice/week for 4 mins
Hi, I am not familiar with how maples do in California. I would guess some of the red trees might do ok depending on how much water they get and how little of hot wind they can avoid
Please help me out with a little advice. I'm going for this look in my yard. But I don't understand something. I'm sure all these trees are going to outgrow these tight spaces. What do these types of gardeners do... Prune for the space, move the plants once they outgrow the area?
Every now and then I do have to move a tree because it is growing too large but to the most part the right plant selection and pruning allows the plants to remain this close without damage.
@@amazingmaples thank you for your advice. Your garden is absolutely and unbelievably perfect. Such an inspiration to someone like me. Would you say maybe you take a fraction off of their mature size to accommodate for pruning in order to know what size its area needs to be? And do you care to disclose where you buy ALL of these beautiful specimens? Online, in person? You must buy them out often lol! If that's your special secret, I understand completely:)
@@amazingmaples this is so true, that is why I ask! I buy and resell rare aroids online, but I get to see the exact specimins I'm buying. With these larger online nursuries, that isnt possible. It never turns out good for me to buy a plant I've never seen, especially expensive ones. But buying online is the best way for me to find rare plants.
@@therootandvein If I were to buy online Japanese Maples I would only buy them from Eastfork Nursery since she gets her trees from one of the best growers.
Beautiful Kaede! I thought those trees were only in Japan. I came from Hokkaido japan in 1983 but I never saw trees like this! What state do you live in?
Can you please give me a recommendation for a medium size upright that gets the pinkest in spring/fall. I have 6 Japanese Maples currently and am looking to add a pink to my collection. Thank you! Love your videos
@@amazingmaples Got ya, it looked like either Oregon or Washington. Just getting into the maples and wanted to make sure they would thrive in this northwest climate.
@@P_Belle Not really, one of them is my nursery so the majority of trees are in pot. My second location is getting closer to done but it is missing the grass and irrigation. It's just my parent's house which is completed but they have had the place since 1967 so it should be finished after all those years
Hello Thanks for advising people of wrong information. If you know your plant varieties, you would understand that these plant types can be grown this close and they will not grow into other the the plant that is 3 feet . The majority of the conifers selected grow less than an inch a year and the maples are also very slow growers. Also note that if you watch my videos, I am constantly digging up trees and rearranging the garden for a different look. So again thanks for the advice but you need to understand all of the garden.
