Greetings from Germany, A Good Japanese Army, well disciplined. I hope much of their tradition has been kept and survived the time of occupation. We can be proud that we had such an army as ally. May the German-Japanese friendship last for good.

From the beginning until 0:14 the pass in review troop wear a green uniform, helmet and glasses that resembles same used by Argentina, 1982 in Malvinas War ( Falkland ) against G.Britain expeditionary force. It was a third encounter happened after 1806 and 1807 when UK forces were defeated twice in Buenos Aires. By then Grl. Whitelocke signed up the rendition of all their invader troops.

@chonkhongduocnick Because that's one of the flags of a Japanese infantry division from Hokkaido. It was introduced the early 1950s; it is just a co-incidence that it is the same as the State of Vietnam flag.

@FallenLightx that's true. The IJA did very little to advance or change their technology so most of their armored vehicles and weapons were either adjusted or improved, but new designs rarely were produced. And especially during the second Sino-Japanese War, the IJA didn't see any need to improve their armies. Once WW2 started, most of their resources went to the IJN to fight against the US and British navies. The IJA and IJN were often competing for more resources as well.

It's sad to see so many people that are unaware of the capabilities of the JSDF. They can't attack anyone, but that doesn't mean they have outdated equipment and can't fight. The new Type 10 battle tank came into service this year and it is regarded as the "Gundam" tank and one of the best in the world according to military analysts. Do u guys really think the 2nd largest economy up until the mid-2000s when China passed them (Japan is now 3rd) will have a small and un-adequate military?
@fassstEddie
@fassstEddie 11 лет назад
The music just before the sailors march is called Gunkan March (Navy March) It was a very popular WWII marching music. I'm surprised it's still being played. And the rising sun flag. I thought it had been outlawed? afaik, I think the Japanese military is designed for defense (that's why it's called Japan Defense Force) They have participated in middle east wars but they cannot fire a shot. Wasn't that written in their constitution? With the help of McArthur of course.
@ShantyManCan
@ShantyManCan 13 лет назад
I came here from China's military parade, and this looks so insignificant, almost as if the Japanese do not care! Is this because this is a small parade? Or is it because of the military limits on Japan?
@xjxism
@xjxism 13 лет назад
@JEREX101 because when their army modernized it was the british and other western countries that helped them do it in the 19th century. So as a result they have a western like tradition. They march very similar to the british. as a result
@ShantyManCan
@ShantyManCan 12 лет назад
@joji64theninja I know Japan isn’t allowed a military. What’s it called maritime defence force? or something like that. I still would have thought they would flex some muscles as it were :P. although if they do not the US may be less inclined to remove the limits.
@joji64theninja
@joji64theninja 13 лет назад
@FallenLightx I wouldn't say so. The Imperial Army and the Red Army were fighting for only the second time in "modern warfare", the first time being in WW1. Both militaries just entered the new age of war at the turn of the century. if you think about the soldiers, both armies would've had the same type of training prior to the war , based on the military's past experiences in modern warfare in the Russo-Japanese War and WW1.

@captn1pugwash they are not occupied nor does the term conquered work for this. They have not been occupied since like 1956. The us military retains troops but if you really look into it Japan could ask the US bases to leave at any time. They do not since there are many articles that make such a request difficult. Defeated is a proper term not conquered, nor occupied.

@joji64theninja I thought the Japanese government wants it rights to militarising back, because it feels threatened by China. So will the people protest against a militarisation of Japan? -P.S I don't know if it’s a 'z' or 's' in militarising

38 allies doesn't mean all allies had full armies. Some had sent a battalion, some even less. Some just sent hospital ships, and some even less. Chinese had the numbers and it was what mattered in mountainous regions of Korea. The thing is, allied troops weren't fanatics. They wanted to live too you know, while communists didn't care much for soldiers' lives.

Assuming things, The tibetans don't call them self chinese because they want to be independent, but people from outside still call them chinese. The hans and the Manchu and the Mongolians often call themselves chinese. Second of all, it does not matter how many countries was in the Soviet as long as the only authority or the highest authority is the soviet ccp, just like the highest authority nowadays in china is the ccp.

@OkamiWillDefeatSilva Depends on what you define as conquered, technically speaking the United States did conquer Japan and Germany. To conquer means to be overcome by force, which Germany and Japan were by the allied forces during World War II.

The Foreign Legion, the SAS and the British Royal Gurkahs could put a considerable dent in them, however, due to the fact that those are all special forces, and not fully fledged militarys in themselves, they would more than likely be ovewhelmed. But Against a force such as the Chinese Military, A full army with Air and armor support and naval units, they would have a very hard fight on their hands.

@ShantyManCan Japan isn't allowed to keep a military, this is a self defense force so on a technicality it does not count as a military force, and so this is technically catagorized a civilian parade. none of the general public in Japan has any interest in the military anyways and prefers to keep the military small. So these "parades" are more of an exercise than a parade.

Thank you for your response. You are the one who needs to learn more about history, it was not Russia, it was Soviet Union and Britain and America kept sending tanks and weapons for the Soviet because America had a very mass production capability. I think the reasons that the US hasn't declared war on North Korea is not because they fear because the united nations will join her anyways - there must be some other reasons,because I am not Obama. I don't assume things like you, sir.

@lukebccb well. can't argue with that. The Imperial Japanese Army was grossly underfunded and undertrained, mainly because of that condescending view of the Asian front, but also from the competition between the Imperial Navy. The War Cabinet didn't feel it necessary to fortify an army fighting against the "inferior" Chinese when their navies had to fight the American and British fleets. Japan was always terrible at land battles post 1869 anyways.

@ShantyManCan collectively it's just Japanese Self-Defense Force. each branch being Maritime SDF, Ground SDF, and Air SDF. anything military related is extremely unpopular in Japan because of its militarist past. contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of people in Japan hated the war and blames everything on the government.
