"Puzzle," is sung by a woman who has fallen completely in love with a cheating husband who will never leave his wife for her. She knows this love will destroy her, that she won't be happy again, but she can't stop loving him. This electric version is sung with anger, bitterness about her situation. In the acoustic version, that was performed in 2018, it is just Saiki singing and lead guitarist Kanami on guitar and backing vocals. Both seated alone on stage. Same song, same words, different arrangement. The acoustic version is full of sadness, regret, longing, desperation.

Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies are FIRE!!!!! An epic song performed by arguably the best live rock band on the planet. FROM NOW ON, Shambles, Influencer, DICE are some good MVs to check out but Band-Maid is best experienced "live." Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). You're new hero's name is Kanami, and she's the main composer for the band (the other guitarist is the founder who had the maid cafe look concept), as well as an amazing guitarist. They haven't announced US tour dates yet, but we expect that they will eventually; they've toured the US several times. The one time I've seen them ranks up there with seeing Rush, Pink Floyd and Muse for best concert experiences I've ever had. We Madiacs have a lot of sayings, one of which is "Live Band-Maid is best Band-Maid." There are some great music videos too (Warning is a favorite of mine), but they just blow you away on their live performances, which are sometimes arranged significantly differently than the album versions of songs. And they just have continued to improve over the last decade of playing, playing, playing, so songs that were merely great before are amazing now.

Do more Band-Maid. It's worth it. If not listen to them on your own. Again, it's worth it. 🙂

There are likely to be lots of comments that give you a repeated schtick as to what this song is supposedly about, but honestly, I think you nailed it. It's the classic "He's just not that into you, so time to move on."

Band-Maid has an international audience and often has choruses that everyone can sing along to. Choruses usually have some English words in them or often use nonsense words, like lalala or woe ohhh ohhh kind of stuff. So Band-Maid shows don't let any kind of language barrier get in the way of the fun. In my opinion the best hard rock band out there today who can hold their own with the best of all time (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who etc). Funny you mention Dragon Force. Herman Li had the 2 guitarists on his youtube channel. Check that out theyre so cute. The lead guitarist composes all the music. Shes very prolific with over 100 songs in the last 8 years.

Welcome to band maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo of course) They are wizards at writing catchy ear worms that get stuck in your noggin. I basically don’t speak a lick of Japanese but I sing along to the music all the time. Band Maid is infamous for their live versions being better than the studio versions, for the same reasons as the band you mentioned. It’s not always the case (the Covid era online ones especially), but it is most of the time. A good solution is to just listen to both in one go! I’d recommend Hate? Live next though.

New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence. I haven't even begun to say all I could. Come and see for yourself!

This is not their catchiest song. You really should check out the live version "Hate", especially for the guitar and bass riff-off. It is also a bit of a ear worm and it is hard to get out of your head.

You get it. The studio version is much better than this one. Saiki didn't sing well in this one.
