Imagine you watching Beyond the spiderverse, the final battle against Spot, everyone is losing, and miles is losing hope, and then suddenly, they start to hear this theme in the distance and a Voice Screams "CHANGE LEOPARDON"
Still, this spider man was wasted a lot, after all in the comics, there is an arc that deals with this, since the spider man's need the help of their Leopardon
Fun fact: It was the popularity of this series in Japan, specifically the use of the giant robot, that led to the creation of Super Sentai. Which was then brought over to the west as Power Rangers. So yeah, Spider-Man is the reason Power Rangers exists.
Additional Information: The Super Sentai series already existed. It began in 1975 with Gorenger. Toei's Spider-Man was released in 1978, but in 1979 the Sentai Battle Fever J was the firts Sentai with the Giant Mecha.
Hopefully because I heard that apparently beyond the spider verse will be the last movie for the franchise. Still hoping that they will change their minds tho
Chumei Watanabe, who composed the music for this song, passed away on 23 June 2022 at the age of 96 due to heart failure caused by old age. In addition to the Spider-Man song featured in this video, he was a great composer who contributed many songs to films produced in Japan in which heroes play an active role. We pray that he may rest in peace.
@@Jirudoggu I saw someone make a MV of all the live action spiderman (Raimi, Amazing, and MCU) with the full version of this song. and holy heck, the lyrics fit every arc of each spideys stories.
I'm on episode 11. This show has everything. Melodrama on par with Fist of the North Star. Sick fight choreography. Quips for days. More cheese than Wisconsin. *Everything*
Ironically it does capture the essence of spiderman as a character it's just this version focuses on the burden of being spiderman while the American one focuses on the fun parts of being spiderman.
"Emissary from hell! Spiderman!" "The camera lens is the eye that sees truth. A man who believes in what the eyes see. Spiderman!" "World Martial Arts Champion, Spiderman!" "Iron Cross Killer. Spiderman!"
@@cheezyfro144 to be fair, the Hulkbuster is way smaller than Leopardon, so of course Sword Vigor would one hit him, i think the armor is not even bigger than the tip of the sword
Alibey Bal actually Cayde 6 is right this version of Spider-Man is the first tokusatu hero to pilot a giant robot a staple that would stay for Super Sentai and the Power Rangers. Plus Marvel helped Toei co-produce Battle Fever J, Denjiman & it’s sequel Sun Vulcan.
First attemption by Toei to use a super robot was in anime Combattler V. Before that it was Go Nagai's Mazinger Z and Getter Robo. If you consider non tripulated super robot it was tetsujin 28go manga 20 years before Supaidaman and Leopardon.
I'm Japanese, and this Spider-Man is called the TOEI Spider-Man in Japan. Officially recognized by MARVEL, the Strongest Spider-Man is said to be TOEI than any other Spider-Man.
It’s because of Sword Vigor, it’s literally both the unstoppable force and immovable object that will entirely and absolutely destroy whatever it comes into contact with no if’s and’s or but’s
2 sides of what makes Peter so great: American theme - fun and cheerful (He *GETS* to be Spider-Man) Japanese version - serious and existential: (He *HAS* to be Spider-Man)
Nice analysis! I’ve noticed besides the obvious campiness that this show was in fact deadly serious at times. Especially when Doctor Yamashiro died. This is a great Toku show in my opinion.
The funny thing is that it's usually the opposite. American versions of theme songs of Japanese shows tend to be more serious, like the original Pokemon anime. It's also the same story with game box art, where Japanese box art tends to be more cute and artistic, the American version was almost always more serious and action-packed. Like Kirby always had to be angry. Thankfully, Kirby doesn't have to be so mad all the time in America anymore, now that Americans have finally seen the light and appreciate Kawaii culture. The best part about Toei Spider-Man is that you can really see how Japanese it is. The Japanese like their shows campy, and they do campy the right way. With heartfelt sincerity. Which is why a lot of Japanese IPs are so damn loveable. They know they're ridiculous half the time, but they just own it. That's the difference between your Metal Gears and your Splinter Cells. Unfortunately, Western media has succumbed to the vile trend of insincerity. Now everything has to be post-ironic meta humor. There's not an ounce of sincerity anymore for fear of seeming too campy. Which to me makes the end product actually worse. I like campy stories, thank you very much. You can see this difference by comparing the writing of a Western developed JRPG - Sea of Stars, to the writing of an Eastern developed JRPG - the Dragon Quest series. Sea of Stars almost seems afraid to take itself seriously, with one character constantly pointing out JRPG tropes as a meta joke. On the other hand, the Dragon Quest series has a lot of JRPG tropes (being THE JRPG) and leans into them heavily, but never seems insincere in its presentation. It knows what it is, and it's sincerely and unapologetically proud to be itself. Which is why I enjoyed my time with DQXI far more than my time with Sea of Stars. I mean, people love JRPGs because of all their tropes. You don't need to point and laugh at them as if it somehow makes you "quirky" and "unique". Eastern media even knows how to tell great stories with ridiculous and absurd settings, concepts, and characters. Blue Archive is a Korean made game based entirely around the ridiculous concept of high schools being nation states and armed bulletproof girls duking it out with guns, but somehow manages to tell a very heartwarming, inspirational, and at many points high-stakes and serious story. And that's not even mentioning the plethora of Japanese media based around similarly absurd concepts like Evangelion, where teenagers for some reason pilot gigantic mecha. You can be campy and take yourself seriously at the same time, but Western writers seem to have forgotten this.
@@manuelmateo3392 how?? I mean spiderman isnt usually a dark edgy character who's angry at the world. Lines about him searching for vengeance is so not spider-man.
For those of you not aware of what this series is about, it’s about motorcross star Takuya Yamashiro who discovers a crashed space ship called the Marveller from the Planet Spider, where he is injected with the blood of the last remaining warrior of the planet. He becomes Spider-Man, the emissary of Hell and must now fight against the evil alien Iron Cross Army and its leader Professor Monster. The Marveller also transforms into the giant robot Leopardon. Yes this is real If you want something even more wild and twice as depressing and violent; check out the insane officially licensed Spider-Man manga which was illustrated by the artist of Crying Freeman
@@xkee2013 i know right and we'll never get it see that show in higher quality because of his opinion. apparently marvel has the rights to the show now but it s been sitting and it probably will forever now that lee is dead
@@mightyschannel1 Exactly!!! Glad to see another fan of the original live action Spidey. They never even recognize Nicholas Hammond by ever giving him a cameo in any Spider-man/Peter Parker related media. Rather it be the films, games, cartoons or even the comics. Which is really beyond disrespectful to me. They can say what they want about the show, but he played a great Peter Parker and reasonable Spider-man. Yet Lou Ferrigno has Cameos in both live action Huik films, cartoons and games....smh.
American Spider-Man theme song: "Hahahaha he's like a wacky little bug guy who swings around on webs and climbs up walls and catches shoplifters for fun" Japanese Spider-Man theme song: "Why has Spider-Man chosen a bitter and tragic life of perpetual fighting and near-constant risks to his own safety when he could just as easily turn his back on humanity"
That's the epitome of the meme: Spider-Man: Haha awkward teen fights crime in superhero costume while jumping around using webs Spider-Man lore: a teenager that is forced to give up a normal life just so he can risk his life everyday to fight super villains trying to destroy the world, while he himself also loses his relationships and family.
My pal showed me this intro when we were 9yo. Then, it was the funniest thing in existence, we've milked it for years, but now? It's even better, like fine wine.
Fun fact: this creation of Toei Spider-Man led the creation of Super Sentai Series. Which also led being aried over in US in later years as Power Rangers. Without Spider-Man, we may never had Power Rangers being existed. So lets thank Spider-Man for giving us this and inspiration.
Well technically, Super sentai existed prior with Himitsu Sentai Goranger and JAKQ Dengekitai. However spider-man was the show that introduced huge robots as something to include for the next super sentai show, Battle Fever J
"Why do you, Why do you.. ..choose to continue to fight risking your own life? With only one goal, with only one goal.. The Invincible Man, Spider Man" I love that part, it shows the struggles of spider man and the roots of his character
+Carlos Pino I was just fixing to say:"As someone who's seen at least one episode of the original Kamen Rider, I'm getting some mad Kamen Rider vibes from this intro." Nice to know it's not just me...

Watching No Way Home realizing Takuya Yamashiro only waiting to appear in MCU and this guy is likely the strongest and 'resourceful' version of Spider-Man.. if the guardian of the multiverse want to fight Kang next.. they better bring this Spider-Man along
@@chepelapodgaming4072 Isn't Supaidaman just Spider-Man spelled in Japanese? Also, this show inspired Super Sentai, which was adapted into Power Rangers.
"I like how they kept Spider-Man as someone who gives his own peace up for the greater good, it's still somewhat faithful to the source materia-" **CHANGE LEOPARDON** "..."
I found out that apparently Stan Lee actually saw this and he loved it. He actually referenced it in Spider-Verse. So yeah, in some part of the Marvel Multiverse, this is canon!
+William Hertel That alone entices me to read Spider-verse, because I'd love to see how this Spiderman interacts with his American counter parts. Especially since he pilots a giant mech. xD
Uganda Knuckles What? I was kidding around when I posted my original reply And the second one was a poor attempt at explaining myself I have no idea why I’m posting this one some part of what you said offended me but I’m not sure why
When you realize that a variant of Spider-man is the first japanese super hero who owns a mecha, meaning Leopardon is the first Toei Mecha before Super Sentai mecha exist.
@@kradfreedom9624 Yeah I know. I thought you were refering to the ones mentioned above (Battle Fever, Denjiman and Sun Vulcan) saying that "[Mecha] could have been used for those"
@@chepelapodgaming4072 well technically, you could call it the first Megazord because Leopardon is pretty much the reason we had Megazords to begin with. Without the Success of Toei's Spider-Man and Leopardon, there wouldn't a Battle Fever Robo or any other Robo in Super Sentai. Heck, without it, Super Sentai (or just Sentai like it was known in the time) would have ended at JAKQ, because the franchise was cancelled after it and only because of Toei's Spider-man did they bring it back as Super Sentai
First Power Ranger! 70s Spiderman is what kicked off the Super Sentai genre. Seriously, Stan Lee made a sweetheart deal with Toei in the 70s because he respected how good they were at extracting money from 12 year olds. The two companies could use each other's properties however they wanted for 3 years. Toei chose to make a Spider-Man TV show (and other, less direct stuff), Marvel used some of Toei's giant robots for their Shogun Warriors comics.
I just love that Marvel Studios has canonized the Multiverse for their live-action adaptations. That means that THIS show really DID happen and wasn't just a fun non-canon adaptation. Leopardon is still somewhere out there in the MCM, and all the Multiverse villains should be very afraid, lmao.
The only thing that makes me upset, is that once Japanese Spider-Man appears in Beyond the Spiderverse, and an epic remix of this theme plays, only then will artists like Samuel Kim and RichaadEB realize that it slaps and they'll finally make their own renditions of it. It's only a matter of time.
@@kadad5288 - I remember in the early days of RU-vid someone uploaded this intro with fake, but funny, lyrics and subtitles. 🎶WTF? / IS THAT A MEGAZORD? / IS THAT MEGAZORD? / HOW COULD MARVEL AGREE TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS? 🎶 Those were the days.
Just showed my immigrant mom and cousin this after watching welcome to pleasantville because they recognized Toby McGuire. I mentioned he wasn’t the first live action Spider-Man
Am I the only one addicted to this song? Also, I love how this show impacted Super Sentai, which in turn affected Power Rangers 15 years later. I would've loved more Marvel and Toei collaborations.
technically they had others, since Battle Fever J, Denjiman and Sun Vulcan are all Toei and Marvel Co-productions but yeah it would be cool to see another Marvel hero adapted by Toei.
@@DarkAnon100 Battle Fever J was originally a Captain America show, but they wanted to have a team of State-themed superheroes. IDK what happened, but I think Marvel said no, so they made Battle Fever J instead. This is why it was counted as the first Super Sentai for a while, because Super Sentai was supposed to mean SUPERhero Sentai. It's also why the suits aren't standard Sentai suits.
R.I.P. Stan Lee, if it weren’t for Marvel, we would never have gotten this series and to an extent, Super Sentai would be forever lost to the sands of time! Thank you Stan!
And also fun fact, before Saban imported Super Sentai to create PR, Stan Lee did try to import the series here, to be precise, he tried to bring Sun Vulcan but it unfortunately never happened
@@muhammadadamdarwish5375well it's true and false, from a certain point of view. Super Sentai still existing is because of Spider-Man. The franchise was officially cancelled after JAKQ Dengeki Tai, but the success of Spider-Man and of Leopardon led to Toei bringing back Super Sentai and incorporating Humanoid Mechas in the mix. So yeah, while SS did exist before Spider-Man, it's not false either to say that the series still exist today because of Spider-Man
"Why do you continue to fight, risking your own life?" I was half expecting Supaidaman to be looking into the sunset atop of a roof, manly tears rolling off his mask's eyes at that part of the song.
