Portuguese influenced Japanese language, Portugal brought Christianity, Tempura, Castella, Pan aka bread, and then centuries later Japanese people immigrated to Brazil a former Portuguese colony, then some immigrated back to Japan, but are considered fully Brazilians by the Japanese due to their mixed roots, Portuguese language, Catholic faith, and Brazilian sensibilities. Ironically they weren't the first to speak Portuguese and follow Catholicism, and Nagasaki already has tons of Portuguese cultural influences, white painted churches, European style buildings, Portuguese ships, and an active Japanese Catholic community. And Macau in China had colonial mixed Portuguese-Japanese families in adminstration. And to take it further Hawaii which has lots of Japanese, also had Portuguese immigration. Small world. In my country the US, Portuguese immigrants brought what we call Manhattan Clam Chowder which is a Clam seafood stew with a Tomato base. They settled on the East Coast, especially in New England, such as Boston, Rhode Island, in New York, New Jersey, and in Springfield, Illinois in the Midwest, and on the West Coast, in California especially in San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Santa Cruz, Central Valley of Los Angeles, San Diego, Mendocino County, Marin County, Monterey County, Contra Costa County, San Bernardino County, Sonoma County, Santa Cruz County, San Diego County, San Benito County, and in the Northern most areas of the state, Humboldt County and Del Norte County, which is famous as where some of Star Wars Return of the Jedi was filmed, the Red Wood forests.

Castela não tem nada com a região da península ibérica. Significa sim bater claras em castelo o que dá um bolo mais fofo e alto, como um Castelo.

Acho que tempura vem do facto de nos usarmos “temperos” para “temperar” a comida. 😊 just my very (NOT) scientific opinion! Awesome video! Obrigada!

It's depends which words are you looking for, because most words you search on Google or translate can be Brazilian Portuguese, both countries speaks the same language, but a few words have different uses or meaning and Brazil have more influence with the language than Portugal in nowadays.
