Jarno Trulli BEAT Fernando Alonso. That is fact. People forget that in 2004, Jarno had more points, poles and wins than Alonso before Jarno left the team after Monza 2004! It was 46 points to Jarno, 45 points to Alonso, but then Jarno had to leave to Toyota for the final 3 races of 2004. As Jarno says, Alonso is a disgrace, and an overly-political driver.

@Albertus Nathan Widjaja It must be remembered that in the 2004 season, Jarno Trulli was actually better than Alonso. With only three GPs left in the season, Trulli switched from Renault to Toyota. But before that, Trulli led Alonso in points while they were teammates on Renault. In addition, Trulli won the Monaco GP and took Pole Positions in Monaco and SPA. Alonso did not win a single GP this season, nor a pole position. It would have been interesting to see the Trulli on Renault in the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Anyone who works/worked with Fernando Alonso.....knows and evidently says that he is the best they have ever come across. A pure racer. Ron Dennis wanted him back at McLaren. Renault took him back (twice) Ferrari Fans still love him and respect him. Following F1 from the last 15 years, I have observed that its only the British Media - Sky Sports in Particular who show only one side of the coin. Its high time they realize that Lewis Hamilton is not the only driver on the grid. P.S - Jarno Trulli is an amazing guy and was a delight to hear him.

I’m surprises that this event was not mentioned: “In the last corner of the French Grand Prix 2004 Jarno Trulli let Barrichello by for THIRD place. Until that point Trulli had been driving well through out the year, matching and beating Alonso, even winning the Monaco Grand Prix. As it turns out that misdemeanour didn't cost them (Renault) Second in the Constructors, or even First. But this is acknowledged as the straw that broke the camels back.”

That was an excuse to get rid of him. He was actually even with Alonso for the year. They needed Alonso sponsorship money and obviously he's a great driver too. Australian government was willing to pay millions to get Webber in the Renault and Flavio was also his manager. Trulli didn't have any sponsors and wasn't marketable. In the end Webber went to Williams and Flavio was left with nobody but Fisi

@@markom7960 Ralf ran him wide when being lapped but that's inexperience for you. Alonso was 3rd with Trulli 7th in Aus, 2nd in France but Trulli choked 3rd and finished 4th, 3rd in Germany with Trulli 11th and 3rd in Hungary with Trulli having an engine failure. It shouldn't be forgotten that Alonso had 33 races under his belt at the start of 2004 and Trulli had 116 races. 2 seasons to 7 seasons. Ultimately, Trulli never achieved anything.

@@sadikurrahman4833 Trulli was a really fast Qualifying driver. I looked at the statistics, so in fact Trulli achieved four pole positions in his career. Two on Renault and two on Toyota. In the 2003 season, Qualifying went exactly 8-8 between Trull and Alonso; but in the 2004 season, Trulli beat Alonso 8-7. Like I said, it would have been interesting to see the Trulli on Renault in 2005 and 2006.
