Jason Isbell - Elephant [Reaction] 

I think its safe to say this is the saddest song ever written by the best songwriter ever.

One of the best songs ever written. Jason tells a novels worth of story in 3 minutes. This one always moves me to tears.

A truly talented singer/songwriter! I's say the best songwriter as far as content in the modern day!

Cover Me Up - live. Very powerful and personal. He's an alcoholic, 7 years sober now. It's a love song to his now wife Amanda Shires (occationally plays with him), and how she got him out of his drinking problem. In the live version, you really hear how dynamic and versitile his voice is. And at every concert, there is loud cheering when he sings "But I sobered up. I swore of that stuff. Forever this time". For a more rocking song look up Super 8 live. Also Goddamn Lonely Love (live) or Go It Alone. He's an amazing guitar player as well.

Jason is a VERY talented songwriter. One of the best in my opinion. I do recommend watching his live videos if you can, to me it just makes the song more impactful seeing his expressions while performing. "Outfit" is one of my favorites by him. For a non-Jason recommendation, I'd say "The Right Place" by Zane Williams (a good up-beat dancin style song). I'm excited to follow your journey into this genre!

We just call it Singer Songwriters music, until he plugs in the electric guitars and blows the roof off the house. Elephant is just a term for Cancer. Jason is at heart a Rock n Roller. This song is one of the most potent of his acoustic work, In interviews he tells of it really referring to drunks' he used to see at small bars he played and what their outcome would be, He has himself been sober for many years. Thanks for at least listening to the whole tune before your review.
