Before headlining the main stage at Bourbon And Beyond this year, Jason Isbell paid a visit to our members at The Monarch to perform a full set of acoustic songs--and now you can see the whole thing! For more, visit LPM.org
He’s so humble, the way he will just suddenly crack a joke. How it’s so authentic and he doesn’t even realize he’s being funny. It’s just his pure genuine self. 😂
As a professional songwriter, I’ve been incredibly inspired by Jason’s music, lyrics and production. I truly believe he is the James Taylor of our generation. Every song is quality. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
To me Jason''s already up there with JT as well as CSNY,Jackson Browne, and all those other great singer-songwriters from the 60s & 70s.He wears their influences on his sleeve.
Very enjoyable. Jason is a fantastic talent. Lots of performers with bands are average by themselves, but he is great solo. If you haven't seen him live, do it!
As someone who's from Louisville, who really appreciates Jason's music, and a fellow singer-songwriter in recovery, this was great to see.It just sucked that I wasn't able to be here in person when Jason was in town for Bourbon & Beyond, but it's all good, and at least I have this saved on my RU-vid account. So tyvm for posting this up 🙂.
What a terrific way to start my Friday. Jason is an incredible artist, and seems to be a great human being as well. I love to feel music and he gives me all the feels. Thanks for posting this.
Wow. I love Jason (just saw him at the tribute to Justin Townes Earle at the Ryman) but this version of Vampires has a distinct touch of Richard Thompson about it. Brilliant.
I think it was Noel Gallacher that said the sign of a good song is even if its recorded as a full band it still sounds good on a guitar or a piano. Jason proving that to be true here. Overseas sounds amazing acoustic, and the best part of the album version is the electric guitar riff, and it still sounds amazing without it.
After being a sustaining member of WFPK for almost 30 years, I felt personally wronged by not getting to attend this Members Only performance. Anyway, I don't know why I was so sad, b/c I was at Bourbon and Beyond randomly running into Sadler Vaden and waiting for JI and 400 Unit to play. So glad it was uploaded here so I can watch over and over. Jason is pure genius.
Full disclosure, living 45 minutes away from this, im jealous as hell i missed it... Having said that, this (old) crowd didnt deserve this masterful performance... Invite me next time WFPK, wtf is the Monarch?
He keeps getting better and better, as if he wasn't already at the mythical messiah level. Normal humans didnt know existed or was a possibility. My question is what is the level after mythical messiah , seriously messiah / king of kings/ Saviour ..... Is there even a designated title to what follows??? I dunno about you but if he gets any better everyone who comes in contact with the sound of his music will likely be vaporized or even ported to the spirit world to ride horses backwards and answering the 1 question that bothers us so......... "Did you see the size of those chickens?
Jason Isbell is one of those fine artists who is better live than recorded. Great voice and lyrics. Gregory Alan Isakov and Isbell would sound wonderful together!!!!
