3 Jasta 11 planes fly a patrol over the frontline 1918. One of planes, an Albatros DVa destroyed by "friendly fire". RFC Sopwiths Camels and Dolphins. Music: Prussia's Glory.
I see they still can't get the "Archie" (anti-aircraft fire) right in this new version of Rise of Flight. German "Archie" burst black. Allied AA shells burst white. "Archie" did NOT fire into the middle of dogfights, and the amount of anti-aircraft bursts shown in that clip would do justice to a WW2 daylight mission over the Ruhr Valley. Far too excessive for WW1. Direct hits from "Archie" were very, very rare. Yet they happen in this game and in RoF far too often. And "Archie" did not fire at low level aircraft either, as prediction was too difficult. Low level aircraft targets were left to machine guns on the ground, which were far deadlier than anti-aircraft guns. It's a shame that the designers stuck with the unhistorical use of AA fire. It does tend to show a lack of historical research, which kinda makes the software more of a game than a true WW1 flight sim.
The map around that area was solid blue with MG and AA guns they were so thick on the ground. The developers don't listen to the customers about these sort of problems. Archie being too accurate and firing on friendly planes was supposedly fixed but appears worse now. It's not really worthwhile complaining on the forum as the developers either don't want to know or say there isn't a problem. Historical accuracy like having different coloured shell bursts isn't important to the developers or other inaccuracies either. Flying Circus is at the bottom of priorities for fixes or improvements.
