Let's visit the Château de Jaulny, owned since 2020 by Aurore Thiebaut and Emmanuel Pénétrat. little information for our American friends: during the First World War the castle was a German military hospital which he saved. The American soldiers liberated the village and the castle and settled their wounded in the castle and stayed for three years.

It is worth mentioning that the chateau has been selected for the annual lottery for restoration of French heritage, supported by the French Ministry of culture and as a result the owners received a €300,000 grant, which if I’m not mistaken, helped restored the roof. This lottery is under the auspices of the fondation du patrimoine which provides assistance, including financial, but not only to owners who restore, historical buildings.

Indeed, we had the joy of being selected by the heritage lottery. We are also supported by the DRAC and the Grand Est region. On the other hand, the major work has not yet started, the process is very long before the start of the work, which amounts to 2 million euros to restore the roof and facades. There will still be the bastion of the rampart to be saved and other important construction sites. In France, we are lucky to be well supported for heritage. But we will have to bring money in equity and a lot of marriage, A lot of demonstrations to finance our share on these two 2 million works. (about €800,000 out of the 2 million)

I believe that kind of music was typical of the middle ages in France and probably other countries too.

It’s one of the wonderfull songs of the « manuscrit de Bayeux ». The Bayeux Manuscript is a collection of one hundred and three songs collected at the beginning of the 16th century for Charles III of Bourbon and composed at the end of the 15th century, that is, a few decades after the end of the Hundred Years' War. It is kept at the National Library of France
