Jawaiian - Revox A77 MKIII Restoration 

Superb video - thank you for posting. I am working on restoring a troublesome A77 MkII at the moment. Just finished some minor repairs to my A77MKIII. I also have a MkI B77 and a Pioneer RT-707, my first RTR deck. I appreciate the effort put into your video. It's very satisfying to return 40-50 year old equipment to service.

Long time since I did any electronics hands on even if Im an old retired engineer with a master of electronics (many years ago). Most of my work waswith system engineering, guidance and controll and softare systems. I also have another degre in mostly telecommunication but not any hardware for maaany years. Just finish to restore one of these. I restore teac,s usually , this one is very twisted minded . Sound very nice but is difficult to work on it and all the trimers are crap. I have too change them too not only capacitors.

Hello, nice video. On 14:40 I have seen that you have switched on the position for big tape diameter instead for the small tapes for playback. Does it have any reason ?

Hi, I just acquired an A77 MK4. Currently the deck is rewinding slow. The play mode sounds like it’s playing in fast forward. What could be cause and what would be the estimated repair cost. If could recommend any service shops, I’m currently in Clearwater FL. Thank you

Was your tape guide bearing frozen like mine? Many Revox users don't even know they have a bearing since it looks the same as the older A77 fixed guide which does not rotate as the tape glides over it. A rare failure but replace the bearing for better sound if it jams or on a well-used Revox.

Hello, I leave a question, maybe you can help me. Does the sound of a revox a77 depend 100% on its heads (head)? I'm seeing if I buy Revox a77 that apparently has changed heads and I have my doubts. Thank you!

Hey, I have a problem, I want to set bias trap in rec mode and in playback mode. In rec mode I make it settings successfully the bias trap , but… in playback mode the bias trap is unable to set in the Chanel 2 with coil L801. I screwing with the screwdriver the core of coil L801 but no changing in milivolts. In Chanel 1 I make it setting successful (less then 50mv) but in Chanel 2 no modifications. I changed the repr. Ampl. Card with card in Chanel 1 thinking the coil L801 is defect but no changes ! What is the problem??

Sir, Gooden I'm trying to do the same to my Revox A77 but I don't know how many capacitors and the value , I hate to take each board to buy what I need, there's a place here where I live that sells all those capacitors very inexpensive,can you let me know what to replace,how many I should get . thank you.

If an A77 owner has different tapes like maxell, ampex, basf, etc.. how do you record without aligning the bias for each tape ? Every R2R owner has many different kinds of tape, what's the trick ?
