not long before they disbanded, they played as part of a benefit show for our college radio station, and absolutely killed. One of the most intense shows I've ever seen. I was lucky to see them right before the end. Saw Burning Airlines once, too, and they were pretty damn good too.
dammit, why can't music and the world in general be more like the early 90's? HEY, LET'S WATCH DORA THE EXPLORER, THEN GO SEE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL AND TWILIGHT AND GET ANOTHER HANNAH MONTANNA CD! SCORE! FML. At least live bootlegs keep the spirit alive somewhat.
Plenty of really good music? Sure, if you like whiny, jangly pop. Bands that were huge at the time that blow anyone current out of the water: Alice in Chains (and don't give me "they're current" - they died with Layne), Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, PJ Harvey....hell, The Jesus Lizard and Helmet had their moment in the sun for a little while. Same with Screaming Trees, Social Distortion (yes, they could also be considered 80s though their style in the '90s changed)
saved by the bell was awesome, Titanic was in 97 so not technically early 90's but still good by chick flick standards, and limp bizkit started in 95 with the first album not until 97 and still isn't as bad as the shit that followed shortly after. Your argument sucks.
This is painful. You're missing the entire point of my argument by going into the pointless semantics. You see, I could mention that those watching Dora the Explorer are too young to even consider listening to Jawbox, or even possibly being interested in Twilight, but that's completely beside the point. Jawbox were not a huge band, and most of the bands that were huge at the time weren't good anyways. There is plenty of really good music happening right now, you just have to be willing to look.
