Welcome to our first-time reaction to Jaws 2 (1978). In this video we immerse ourselves in the high-stakes thriller that brings back the terror of the great white shark. We are glad to have experienced this gripping journey filled with nail-biting suspense, jaw-dropping scares, and unexpected twists.
Of course as film fans and lovers of good cinema scores we had to shoutout the haunting score by John Williams. The iconic score this time taking on a more fluid approach does an incredible job at keeping the tension at an all time high throughout the films most horrific moments!
Following Chief Brody's relentless pursuit of the deadly predator, we'll be enthralled by the film's suspenseful storytelling and mesmerizing cinematography. The talented cast, including Roy Scheider and Lorraine Gary, delivers performances that keep us on the edge of our seats, rooting for their survival against the ocean's fearsome predator.
Jaws 2 is another summer classic but it takes a very different approach than it's predecessor.
We hope you enjoy our reactions and commentary. It's clear the sequel's impact on the horror genre and its place within the iconic Jaws franchise. Jaws 2 is an unforgettable cinematic experience.
Join us as we go into the menacing waters of Amity Island and confront the terror of the great white shark. Which one was your favorite Jaws or Jaws 2?

There was once an orca that attacked a shark in Hawaii, over the next several days there were reports of sharks that had supposedly headed to the isles to avenge the one that was attacked. Whether it was just coincidence or it was true I couldn't tell you. But I can tell you that sharks are more intelligent than you'd think. Most of the time sharks only attack if they mistake you for a seal. After the first bite they usually realize the thing they're biting into. Most of the time. Every once and awhile though, there seems to be one that ain't quite right. Some say it's the ocean's way of creating a balance to fairness. Revenge for those of us that treaded waters who the seas couldn't claim. Of course, it's just speculation and tom foolery, but at least to me, if it is true, it makes all those stories of sea monsters and disappearing vessels make sense. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Soul for soul.

The TV cut of Jaws 2 (shown in the 80s) had several deleted scenes added back into it in order to extend the running time for TV broadcast & to add in more TV commercials (including the mayor's apprehension scene, more scenes with Brody and his deputy Jeff, more scenes with the Brody family, a few scenes with the Mayor and his son, a few scenes of Ellen Brody arguing with her boss about her husband, more scenes of the divers underwaters before the shark attacks them & even more of the helicopter pilot trying to escape the shark underwater but to no avail unfortunately). ☹️

Donna Wilkes the scream queen went on to make a really strange movie called Angel where she played a New York high school girl that was a hooker. No idea how that got green lit. Keith Gordon (Doug whom had the unfortunate puncture) went on to become the most famous with some 27 roles including directing 27 shows including Legion, Better Call Saul, Homeland and Fargo. I have gone scuba diving in Cancún. The reason you drop backwards was made abundantly clear to me as I stood up to sit on the edge of the boat. All the weight of the gear is on your back. When I stood a wave knocked me off balance and the full weight of the gear yanked me backwards into the water. It’s pure physics. You just fall with the weight until you balance out in the water.

I grew up watching all of the Jaws movies. I was born in 76 so the only one I actually saw in the theater was part 4 (The Revenge) as my parents didn't want to take me to the 3rd (even though I'd seen the first two) but they let my older brother take me to the 4th. This one is the best of the sequels. As a kid I loved it because it had less blood than the first one. As an adult I came to appreciate the psychological aspect of it. Brody really is falling apart throughout this film showing just how much the events of the first film destroyed him. That gets missed by so many people. I truly think that plays a bigger part to this story than the attacks themselves. 3 and 4 are not great movies but may be fun for you guys to watch just to complete the saga. 3 would be great if you can find a 3D version of it (that's how it was originally made). 4 is a masterclass on how to ruin a good thing...

They are very impressive creatures when you see them close up, nice reaction, by the way a lot of the footage in the first Jaws was filmed at Dangerous Reef of Pt Lincoln by a famous Aussie Diving couple, Ron and Valerie Taylor. 25:06 Divers go into the water backwards because it keeps Equipment In Check. If you were to dive forward, the force of the impact might knock loose this and other equipment. By diving backwards, assuming you do it correctly, you ensure that you don't enter the water without equipment. Scuba divers normally tip backwards when entering the water from a small boat because it's the fastest, easiest and safest way to do so. You don't need to get your fins over the lip of the boat/side railing first, you're already in a comfortable, sturdy seated position, and going backwards ensures that the tank, first stage regulator (the part of the breathing apparatus that attaches to the tank valve), and perhaps the manifold (a tube that joins 2 tanks together) doesn't hit you in the back of the head if you had entered the water front facing first.

They go backwards for 3 reasons. 1. Reason is because you can hold onto your equipment or mask and gear, let the tanks do their work. dropping forward, the water will force items in your hand to release or get wrecked. You can do what is called the walk in drop, this is done on larger boats and the diver only has to walk in slowly. The Large boat will have a platform near water level, and you just take a long step off. Some smaller boats will have a aft foot ledge, and you can do a walk off there. 2. it prevents your lines from getting tangled from needle dropping from feet to head or head first on fast drops. 3. The 3rd reason is your tank and any other items you have are attached to your back. This is where all the weight is, diving from another position other then the back will force the first part of your body that hit the water~ (to support all the weight first, as you enter the water before your equipment does). Remember water has mass! Think about jumping only 2 to 3 feet down off of something but with a back pack on that weighs 29lbs, times this by 2 if you have 2 tanks. Now nothing is stopping you from jumping anyway you want to, but you risk losing items and might get impact pains. Let the heavy tanks do the work, and get you down in the water with everything you brought. The Guy with the under water camera that died in the start, did not jump head first with his camera. = he went in backwards to maintain all his equipment. "And Jaws taught him another kind of lesson" lol

Scuba divers tip backward out of a boat to perform a backward roll entry into the water for a few reasons, including: Safety A backward roll protects the boat from excessive rocking, which can cause other divers to fall and damage their gear. Injury prevention Jumping into the water feet first or head first can cause injury to your joints or from loose gear. Stability A backward roll entry is often used on smaller vessels, which can be shaken up by divers standing on the gunwale.

Scuba divers dive backwards from boats to prevent equipment from getting knocked loose during entry. Diving forward can cause an impact that knocks loose gauges, regulators, or other essential gear. This could lead to equipment malfunctions or even loss of some equipment.

JAWS is my favourite film of all time. As a kid i tended to watch JAWS 2 more….not a bad sequel considering. More of a straight forward action/slasher type flick and lucky to have Roy Scheider back.

So the 1st Jaws you don't see the shark so much is because it kept breaking down due to the cold water at Martha's Vineyard. They totally relied on the music & the fin. Spielberg once said they prayed that it would be enough for the audience. Jaws was considered the 1st "Summer Blockbuster"
@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights Год назад
And it was! It forced the team to get creative and now so many horror films try to show less because of it! It’s about the effectiveness of the story not just having your monster on screen at all times! What a movie 😃

The shark was never scheduled to be used for the first half of Jaws. It was hidden by design. It only broke down out at sea for the Orca based scenes. They could never have used Bruce in the chest to waist deep water where they filmed the beach attack scenes, and they were all filmed in May and June 1974 before Bruce was even scheduled to be used for its first scene in July.

That and the salt in the water as they had only tested the shark in a fresh water pool.

Interesting factoid on the Jaws films, there was an unfinished project for the next movie after this to be "Jaws 3, People 0" which because this was years later moving into the 80s and people attached to said project would take a much more comedic and absurdist angle. Long story short, it got shot down for multiple reasons but a main crux of it was wanting to keep the film series to be taken seriously and not turn it into a comedy, which is kind of ironic when you see the next film that was made is Jaws 3D which is unintentionally Hilarious

Yes, you can recover from bubbles in your blood (the bends) by being placed in a pressure chamber for several hours. The high pressure forces the “bubbles” out of the blood stream. Then the chamber is brought back up to normal surface pressure(atmospheric) slowly. Cheers
@juliant
@juliant 5 дней назад
The only treatment for the bends is recompression, which involves placing the patient in a hyperbaric chamber to receive 100% oxygen. This treatment reverses the pressure changes that caused gas bubbles to form in the blood, allowing the nitrogen to be released safely.

Did the council fire themselves for stupidity or did the people vote them out lol

I like this just as much as the first one even though it is a little more unrealistic than the first one. I wasn’t old enough to see this in the theater and watched it when they first aired it on tv. I went waterskiing a lot and lived on a lake but it was probably a month before I could comfortably ski again 🦈 😂

25:11 diving in headfirst can force water into the face mask. Some divers also jump in feet first. 26:04 As shallow as that dive was, the bends shouldn't be a problem. The mention of 'bubbles in the blood' was a nod to the bends, but erroneous in this case.

7:23 According to the novel only 2 years has passed between this and the first film, but in the movie FOUR years have passed...but I find it weird that Michael looks like he's aged a lot more than only 4 years. In the first film it looks like the chief's kids were 10 and 5...in THIS one they look like they are 16 and 9

The actor who played Sean in this died last week, sadly. The shark didn't bite Lucy, it slid against her. Shark skin has things called denticals, tiny teeth, when they rub the wrong way it's like serious sandpaper. It's part of their protection. I think the implication is this shark was supernatural in origin, thus going after the Brody children, so her prayers and cross saved her or something. They take that concept to stupid levels in the 4th film.

The only thing the bugged me with this movie is the town ignoring Brody again, even though 4 years before some crazy stuff happened, this town should be hurting financially right now. But still quite a good movie. I should mention, when Brody was fired, there was a scene where they put up their hands voting if they should keep him on duty, and the mayor is the only one who put his hand up to keep Brody. The scene was cut out of the movie.

They tip backward off the boat to break the surface tension of the water with their back/the tank, rather than having all of that pressure hit your face-mask, and potentially cause a crack (or worse) that could cause injury to your eyes. If you're not comfy going over the edge of the boat like that, there are places that have little ladders they can lower down.

You couldn't hear it probably because you were commentating at the moment but if you watch it again, pay attention to the detail in the photo exposure scene - they have the sound effect of water/chemical sloshing and dripping and added a part of the shark theme music and its just so dad gum creepy!
