Police Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) finds a burned corpse in the water.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Despite being a less well-regarded virtual remake of the original film, Jaws 2 earned a tidy sum at the box office by combining its predecessor's winning formula with the popular teen horror craze, helping to spawn the era of blockbuster sequels. Roy Scheider returns as Sheriff Martin Brody, whose small resort town of Amity is poised to bounce back from the economic hardship it encountered after becoming widely known as the site of vicious shark attacks. But at the same time that Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) is welcoming a real estate developer to Amity, two divers disappear and a party of waterskiers is consumed by a shark. The incidents are explained away as accidents, but Brody knows better, tipping his bullets with cyanide and forbidding his sons Mike (Mark Gruner) and Sean (Marc Gilpin) to participate in a teen sailing regatta. Everyone foolishly chalks up Brody's fears to trauma-induced paranoia, and the regatta goes forward, with a hungry great white trailing the youthful contestants and hungrily picking them off one by one. Director Jeannot Szwarc would later helm another sequel, Supergirl (1984).

I don't think a shark as big as the one in this movie (25 feet long) would've been able to attack him. A normal shark, maybe. But not the monster sharks in these films. The water would've been too shallow for them to get that close.

This scene had to make people jump in the movie theater, you know something is coming just don't know what. While Jaws 2 was not as good as the first one, it still holds up pretty good in it's own right because of Roy Scheiders good acting.

I am pretty sure that’s how most people see it, Atleast I do anyways, and the reason being why they shark didn’t try to attack Brody is cause it’s longer and bigger then the first shark, and the water was too shallow where Brody was to attempt attacking, if the board was further toward the shark maybe it would’ve tried.

Judging by the piece of the boat and the body being held on it we can only assume she survived the initial explosion from the boat. With the last of her strength she must’ve grabbed on to that piece afterwards but likely died from her burns.

Mike Reger: As I understand it they were going for a completely different feel. That's okay because what they were going for- they achieved. It's a good mix of monster and slasher. Instead of man vs beast, it's Brody vs Jaws for one more round and I thought it was a good send off for Martin's character.

I was 15 years old watching this movie in the theater when it came out. I would be so scared going that far out into the ocean. When that body came up it scared me big-time. I saw it many times. Still a great movie.

Well the Shark in Jaws The Revenge was nicknamed "Vengeance" according to the tie in novels by Hank Searls, the Shark in Revenge was born at the exact moment it's mother was killed by Brody at the end of JAWS 2.. yes.. the Shark in 2 was a pregnant female, reason why it was a lot larger than the one in the original movie

What bothered me about this scene is that they play the Jaws theme and show you a first person view like he's nearby, stalking Brody. It would have been cool if he actually was there and tried to attack Brody unsuccessfully. Instead, he wasn't there at all and you get this jump scare of Diane's burned corpse.

David Miles: I dunno. It would've been cool if the shark had shown its fin like he was nearby and had left the corpse there just to taunt Brody. The shark in this one was more malevolent than the first one. If you ask me- part 2 is the real Jaws revenge movie. They just managed to make it subtle which works better.

in the originally script this scene takes place ar night, he found just the piece didn't have that charred body, actually had the shark watching martin without him noticing, but the shark couldn't eat him because he was in shallow water.

There may have been some questions as to why a sequel to an all time classic like the original Jaws was necessary but this film deserves a bit more credit than it got . There are some good solid performances, a great score by John Williams, great suspense & some genuine scares throughout. Just watch this & Spielbergs movie & avoid the preposterous 3d & revenge atrocities.

- Yes it was the woman who was driving the boat; remember when the shark was 1st attacking the boat she accidently poured gasoline all over herself then tried using a flare gun, the combination of the flare gun & the gas caused the explosion...& resulted in the shark also getting burned as well.

Yes it was the shark grabbed it and put it on the plank of wood and let it float out to see for Chief Martin Brody to find later on.

Yes same cinematographers who shot the first movie which is something really nice about Jaws 2 is that it still feels and looks like a true Jaws sequel unlike 3 and 4 although 4 had nice cimentrophy to 3 is an ugly looking film.
