JAYCEE BUTTERFLY SHAWL - WRITTEN PATTERN: wilmade.com/ja...
--- Materials needed ---
- Gradient yarn cake (3ply, 1.095 yards / 1.000m, 200g) wilmade.com/gr...
- Clover crochet hook 4mm (US G/6 hook) amzn.to/2MYqzDl
--- About this pattern ---
The Jaycee Butterfly Shawl is a triangle shawl that features beautiful butterflies. It's mainly made with double crochet stitches and chains. I've used self-striping yarn for a unique color fade effect. This butterfly shawl is part of my special series of patterns dedicated to extended family (people with the same rare tumor as I).
--- About this series of patterns ---
I was born with a (benign) tumor in my face. For more than 22 years my doctors did not know what it was exactly. In 2017 I did a second opinion and got diagnosed with an ultra rare condition. I immediately started searching for other people with this condition.
So far I have found about 40 people in the whole wide world. It’s amazing how many similarities we have and how much we look alike. Many of my upcoming patterns, including this one, will be special designs inspired by my new ‘extended family’. You can read more on my blog: wilmade.com/an...
--- About me ---
My name is Wilma, I’m 25 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I design crochet patterns which I share for free on wilmade.com. I especially like to make garments, shawls and hats.

When our mother passed away she wrote her own obituary. She told us kids when we see a butterfly to think of her. I’m making one of these for my three sisters for their birthday. And I have a similar pattern for blankets from our midwife series with Cynthia’s Joyful Creation and will do that for my brother. I have been looking for a butterfly 🦋 pattern. Glad I found yours.

I think this is one of the best if not the absolute best butterfly pattern out there right now. The way you do it is slightly different than the other ones I’ve seen and that slight difference makes absolutely all the difference. I think it came out beautiful and I am super super super excited to do the entire shawl! My oldest niece asked if she could have the Vela Flower Friend Shawl that I made for her birthday coming up and I know her younger sister is going to want one as well and I think this will be the perfect one to make for her! Plus I have some beautiful beautiful yarn cakes coming so I need an excuse to make more shawls and practice getting them perfect!

I got confused right before the repeats. You say row 12 is the same as row 4 and then row 13 is the same as row 5. Which I did but then you said 14-63 is the same as 4-13. Does that mean you work a single crochet row and then a shells row. Then do it again
@jinxgirl5
@jinxgirl5 6 месяцев назад
I was confused about this too, but looking at the chart at the end helped. 12 and 13 are just the same pattern as 4 and 5, so she referenced them instead of taking us through them again.

Hi there. There is a discrepancy in your pattern in Row 9 and 10. In row 9 you say to do 2DC then 1DC and again start at the repeat 2DC in next stitch. This leaves 5DC stitches between the butterflies. The in row 10 after you do 2DC in the butterfly wings and 1DC in the DTRC you do another 2DC in the other wing. Then there are 5DC stitches between the butterflies, but you say to do only 1DC in the next 4 stitches. So what about the 5th stitch? This throughs out your stitch count when you want to start repeating from Row 4 onwards.
@odettekeough3906
@odettekeough3906 3 года назад
Or do we just skip the 5th stitch?
@jinxgirl5
@jinxgirl5 6 месяцев назад
She tells us to do a repeat of 5dc, 2dc in the ch, 1dc in the dtrc, 2dc in the chain. Repeat that until we get to the ch2 space. The 4dc part comes in there, since there are only 4st. The dc into the ch 2 space is the 5th st.
