I know this video is 6 years old but I just found it and I'm so glad I did. The pattern is lovely (simple enough for it to be relaxing but varied enough still to be engaging), the pace is perfect, the tutorial is easy to follow without having to check the video after every stitch, and there's the perfect amount of repetition to follow along without having to concentrate really hard without being bored to death if that makes sense. Like it's just a perfect Goldilocks kinda tutorial I suppose. :D It was very pleasant to listen and crochet along to after a long, stressful day and I'm looking forward to watching part 2 now. Thank you for making this!
I used to crochet a lot, even with the tiny thread. I've had 2 strokes and my hands are half numb.... so doing hand work is really hard now because I can't feel my yarn to tension it right. This pattern has given me hope, I like your voice, and style, thanks to you tube, if I don't get something i can backup and re-watch a part and finally get it right. I've forgotten the patterns I used to know, this shawl is for me because I feel cold all the time unless the temp is around 80.... so this is for me. THANK YOU!!!!
If it helps any, I had a TIA and I took up crocheting to help with my eye-hand coordination. The worst part is that the TIA was on the left side of my brain which meant that my right limbs are affected. I still have moments where my fingers go numb but I persist. I have faith that you can overcome and be a great crocheter again.
I have neuropathy in my hands and they are getting very weak now as well, I've made so many of this pattern and the dragonfly one as well. I try to crochet every day, so scared of losing my fine motor skills and although painful, I keep making shawls to give to women in need. Don't know what I will do when I am no longer able to knit or crochet. I have stage 5 neuropathy in my feet as it is and I was always barefoot and now it hurts more than my open heart did trying to walk barefoot. Will keep you in my prayers!
I love how clear you are with all your instructions, it sure makes things a lot easier, I think this is the third or fourth shawl pattern I've followed of yours, and am thrilled with how they all turn out. MANY MANY THANKS......keep up the good work Fibre Spider, you have lots of fans.
My niece told me about this channel. I owe her a big thanks. I did the Lost Souls Skull shawl and absolutely love it!! This one is turning out extremely well. I intend to give it as a gift. Thank you so much.
Agree...your voice is very soothing. I've fallen asleep to many of your tutorials. Not because they were boring, but because of your voice. I'm so glad that I found this video, I have a varigated yarn that I think this pattern would be perfect for.
There are so many patterns, teachers and tutorials out there. I needed something new, challenging, but soothing at the same time. Your tutorials and manner makes this the perfect project at the perfect time. Thank you!!
Just love this tutorial. You show exactly where to insert the needle especially in those ending stitches! Thx much! Into my third repeat and it is looking really nice.
Thank you so much for your tutorials. I've learned so much from you! Also, your voice has a very calming effect. It lowers my stress levels. Thank you for that too!
Thank you so much! ❤️. I fell in love with this pattern, but feared it! But once I started it, I could not stop crocheting, each🦋 butterfly once completed brought a smile to my face. Oh, and you doing that second video was an excellent idea! Thanks for the second video. It seared the pattern into my memory, that I could chat and watch tv with my hubby! I altered it to a bigger size and added a border to the bottom! Completed it in two days, sold before I could post it for sale! Now, to make another in the near future! Wish I could show it to you!
I truly enjoy your tutorials ❣️ You have a nice calm voice, a sweet personality, and super clear instructions. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. This might be the first shawl I try to make. So lovely yet simple. (So far!) 😘
I've made many of these shawls & they turn out lovely. Just a piece of info which I decided to do instead of doing a triple crochet to make the butterfly body I'm doing the DC/double crochet & it works out perfect. Plus its much easier to do & the body of the butterfly is just a tad tighter. Looks amazing. Just thought I'd share this with all of you
Thank you so much! You have made instructions very easy to follow! My father passed away last September, my mom and I have said dragonflies are signs of him because they were flying around his casket. This shawl is for my mom and the butterflies are close enough to dragonflies so when she wraps up in the shawl she will be able to know dad’s arms are around her too!
Beautiful shawl, just love the butterflies !!! Im going to have to make this one !!! Thank you fiber spider for posting such a beautiful shawl video !!!
Love this tutorial. Last year I made a virus shawl that I learned from you. Now can't wait to get started on this Butterfly shawl. Thanks for your tutorial.
This is SO helpful! Had figured everything out (fairly new to crochet compared to my 6 decades of knitting!) UNTIL I got to row 5 and capturing the bars! On my way now!
Lovely pattern thanks so much for your generous nature. I've crocheted for many years but thanks to your tutorials I'm knitting as well! Thanks again Fiber Spider love your RU-vid channel
This shawl is next on my list - Thank you for creating such thorough videos. The mark of a great teacher is to anticipate the questions of their students and give them confidence to challenge themselves. Thank you for doing both and much more!
Just found this video...it is now on my to do list. You do a wonderful job of your tutorials, especially because you keep your work in focus! I'm sure you've seen enough videos by others to know that staying in focus is not easy for some. Thank you for doing such a good job with your videos!
You are so talented and do such a great job explaining each pattern. Bonus: you have such a soothing voice that even when the pattern gets challenging, you always seem to positively talk us through it. Thank you for all your tutorials!
This looks so much more doable than the first one I tried!! And prettier! Thank you so much - this is for a special person and I just might make one for me 🙂
I love this pattern and have just started my third shawl. Instructions are written down but continue to turn on your video because I enjoy doing it with you! You are a great instructor! This compliment is coming from a retired teacher, you are a natural!
I am in love with your hands!! So agile, so elegant, so beautiful to watch how they create those fantastic crafts. Oh yeah, i really like the patterns, you clear explainations and your voice too..
Just did the foundation it looks so cute can’t wait to finish this it’s going to be a gift for a friend was has been ill going thru several surgeries and needs one more. Thank you. Your such a good instructor.
hello fiber spider I finished the lakeside shawl and it so beautiful and now I am starting to crochet the butterfly stitch prayer shawl thank you for your tutorial I have learned so much from you looking forward for more of your videos.
I followed every stitch with you and I ended up with a gorgeous butterfly!🦋. Love it. You are so sweet and calm to teach. I’ll be waiting for your next video so I can crochet a lovely shawl. Greetings from Australia 🐨🦘.
This is the first of your videos I have watched and crocheted along with. Super easy to follow and I just love your energy. I caught myself smiling multiple times 💕 can’t wait to make more projects with you!
I can't even begin to express my gratitude to you! You have made learning to crochet so easy. Your videos are very well done and fun to follow along with. It's like having you right here with me. Thank you for sharing your talents!
I started this pattern today from ravelry, I'm happy I found your tutorial thank you. You're clear video confirmed I have been doing it right. Thank you
I've made a few of these butterfly shawls already & they turn out lovely. I noticed a tutorial a few wks ago done by someone else & instead of doing a triple crochet she did a dc which appears to work as well. Thanks for all your tutorials as you explain everything so well & love your work.
I made this for a friend who had Covid and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. Love your videos! You explain things so well and doing a couple of extra rounds just to make sure we know what we are doing and feel comfortable before leaving us on our own is priceless! Thank you for helping me help a life long friend feel better!
Oh my god I'm so thankful for this tutorial. I was looking for a pattern or video all week and only found one of a very unlikely woman, I couldn't understand anything and just gave up about the shawl. Then this tutorial came up and you're so nice, such a great teacher! Thank you so much for sharing what you know ❣️
I just recently lost my dad, so I decided to make this for my mom and my aunt. They both absolutely loved them. You are my absolute favorite RU-vidr 💚 I am looking forward to trying more of you projects.
I love Spring because all the dead brown things green up and become healthy looking again. I also love Fall because of all the beautiful colors and those amazing crunchy leaves we get to rake up. The scarf is absolutely gorgeous and the colors remind me of Fall.
This is a beautiful shawl. I gave it to my mother last year for her birthday and mothers day. Instead of the a turning chaining for rows 2 and beyond, I used a chainless starting dc.
Omg!!! I love this! I followed along perfectly😍you are a great guide! I'm so excited. I'm a new crocheter, so I'm so happy to do more than a scarf🤣I appreciate you taking the time to teach these creative. Techniques. Thank you again, and blessed be🌟
This took me three tries to get down! Counting is so so so important and the stitch marker is so helpful. My brother and his friend don't crochet but they heard me playing your tutorial over and over again and asked me to send it to them because they love your voice so much! Great tutorial.
