I can remember when this happened. I was only a teenager. Very sad ending. Glad her children weren’t hurt. Thank you for sharing all of your hard work Jerry. 🥰
I was 8 years old in 1960 the same year Lamar Hunt started the Dallas Texans an AFL football team which latter became the Kansas City Chiefs. That year he also opened the Bronco Bowl in Oak Cliff. On the grand opening Jayne was there. My brother and I were there. She walks in in this stunning white dress. We were in the concession area. She walks by and stops to talk. MY brother ask here if she would autograph his chest. She told him she only autographs hairy chest so she autographed his annual and planted a ruby red kiss on it. He still has it.
@@nyclady27 Reckless living? The law of physics? I don't know, but a lot of them from the 40's 50's died young. Where did you grow up? I already said in my comment ehere I grew up. Also grew up with the Vaughn brothers, but nothing rubbed off on me.
Jerry Skinner you're absolutely a CLASS ACT! You told her story in a way it's never been told before.... Without making her tragic demise a HORROR STORY! Thanks for giving us her entire life story, (which I'd never heard before) this was another GREAT BIOGRAPHY Jerry!❤️
I Absolutely Love you're video's. I binge-watched every single video you've ever made. They are All Phenomenal I enjoyed every one of them. I've even gone back to watch some a second time. Thank you so much for all you're hard work. I Honestly enjoy & look forward for you're next video. Much Love & Many Blessing's
The car in the picture with Jayne in it was not the Electra 225 that she died in. In fact, it isn't a Buick, but a Pontiac Bonneville. You can tell the difference due to the lack of Buick badging, different Air Conditioning vents, as well as the lettering on the dash panel.
At 14:51 as Jerry is speaking of the car the interior at that point just after the pic of Jayne appears to be a Buick if you look at the floor mats, and passenger side by the vent on the dash is another Buick badge, as would be on the steering wheel they are a Buick. Not saying she didn't unfortunately die in a Pontiac.
@@chance6298 That is not the same car. That is indeed a Buick as one can tell by the distinctive emblems on the right side of the dash (floor mats can easily be changed to a different make and model). The one he mentions with her pictured in the car starts around 14:16. That is an entirely different car and it says Bonneville on the front of the dash. And yes, she did die in a Buick Electra 225.
I remember her well but did not know about her extended family. This all happen in a very busy time of my life and even didn't realize how she died at such a young age. I guess something comes like that with that lifestyle. How sad. Thanks for this, Jerry, I know it took a lot of work to put this together but it's one of your greats. Cheers, Lee
I was in the 10th grade at my grandfathers retirement home just north of the accident site when I overheard Family members speaking about this just after it occurred, at the time didn’t know anything about Jane. Thanks Jerry.
Thank you Mr Skinner great job as usual I'm not sure if you read the comments but on this particular episode it is really really hard to hear the volume is way too low just letting you know thanks. 🤔👍
Another great video Jerry. I always wondered if her movie career would have ever taken back off again had she lived. A great loss, I was glad that her children survived the wreck given how fast the car was going. I had read somewhere where they thought the car was going about 80 mph at the time of the crash.
I’ve understood that this accident help lead to the standardization of “I.C.C” bumper frames on the rear of every truck trailer in America. To keep cars from going under the rear of a trailer in rear end accidents.
When I was young I always loved this beautiful smart lady. And I always felt a connection to her & then one day I was looking at her in a magazine, that is when my mom told me that I was named after Miss Mansfield!! I couldn't believe it, me Melissa Jayne Allen was named after such a beautiful lady!!!
Such a sad story.....God Bless all those who lost their lives. Jane lead an unsettled life from what the story portrays. Thanks Jerry always love your narrated stories.🙏
She was such a beautiful woman . What a shame that her life was cut so short . Her poor kids witnessed that tragic event . Lordy mercy ( that’s terrible) I never knew this story didn’t know how she died or when . Thanks Jerry RIP Jane
Thanks Jerry she was a very beautiful women and her daughter is also beautiful who plays in Law and Order , so sad she died so young thanks for another great biography we all appreciate it. ❤️❤️
What I like about this is that you talk about what happened to those close to her and what they're up to today. I think it adds more to the legacy. If you want a step by step retelling of her life, there's a bunch of biographies here on YT. But I think this is much more personal. Bravo!
Now trucks have bars hanging down on the back to prevent cars from going under the truck in the event of a rear end collision. They’re called Mansfield bars.
A highly intelligent lady. She played the dumb blonde but she was anything but. So Gorgeous too. As a little boy I decided I would marry her when I got older
This accident gives the name of Mansfield Bars to the bars at the back of tractor trailers to prevent (reduce or minimize) cars that rear-end those trailers from wedging under the trailers and the road.
You doing a good job Jerry keep it up. But you got one fact wrong, Jayne Mansfield's last movie was that Cameo appearance in a guide for the married man in 1967 filmed in December 1966.
It was because of this accident that U-shaped bars hanging down from the rear of 18-wheeler rigs' trailers, was mandated to be installed by the government.
Getting a notification that Mr. Skinner has a new video up always puts a smile on my face. My perceptions of these people always change. Jayne M. may be the most surprising yet!
Brody caused that accident, with him sitting in the middle instead of Jane only means he must have been jealous of the driver being too close to her which is understandable, his jealousy not what he did which was floored the accelerator pedal, because he rushed Jane off the phone, when she was on the phone with her ex so therefore I can safely assume that Jane,s alcoholic boyfriend managed to get all 3 of them.
I've thought of her many times as I have driven over that same stretch of Highway 90 so many hundreds of times. And I will tell you that it's often eerie late at night; sometimes there is fog there right before the Rigolets Bridge when there's none elsewhere.
In "The Girl Can't Help It", she COULD sing. She had just been faking not being able to, because she didn't want to sing. And when you mentioned the movie, you used a clip from "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?". It's funny how Tom Ewell played leading man opposite Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Sheree North, probably more. I guess they figured men wouldn't feel threatened by him, so they could keep their fantasies. I always thought that Jayne seemed like a genuinely very nice, down to Earth woman. Will we ever know for certain whether or not she was decapitated? I seriously doubt it. And the car you showed her sitting in is definitely NOT a 1966 Buick Electra 225 - it's a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville.
In 1959 a new section of elevated road was completed in West London known as the Chiswick flyover. On the 30 September 1959, Jayne Mansfield officially opened it. It was later extended and in 1964, became part of the M4 motorway entering London from the west. In 2009, a memorial plaque was unveiled in Chiswick in memory of her.
She sure was a beauty. What a horrible death and so very sad. Thanks again for such very interesting documentaries about famous celebs.. I enjoy every single one and i watch them more than once. XOXO
✨ It was wonderful of him to include her genuine genius. Most of the successful female actresses actually were far more intelligent than most of their male colleagues. Including the heads of the entire movie industry. And without their brilliant minds to lift them to such heights. They would, quite possibly, be far far less successful, and still thriving at the time of their deaths.✨
Thank you Jerry, this one is one of your best, they are all the best. I lived in Phillipsburg, NJ when Jane’s Father was working there as a lawyer with Governor Robert Myner. It was a true tragedy when she was killed in that auto accident. Jerry , again I wish to thank you for your hard work on these documentary’s. They are a treasure for sure. I watch one almost everyday. Please keep em coming, and stay well. Augie and Jill Blase, Winter Springs, Florida. 32708
*Observe please!* That "Buick" of Jane's photo at 14:20 has marque name Bonneville (a high-end Pontiac) obvious on its glove box. All Jayne stories should state: unlike many stars, she was known as a loving, caring mother.
Mr. Skinner, I'm so happy to see how far you've come on RU-vid. I remember the early days when you took a lot of nonsense from the trolls, but you forged ahead and here we are today. Here's to half a million subbies coming up. 🙂👍☮ 👏👏👏👏👏🌹
