It's time for a spark plug change on our 2012 BMW K1600 GT. This will be the same on all K1600s, and very similar to any BMW K bike from 2005 up!

Great video ! An observation though. You have chosen a more difficult way to take the radiator off. The radiator, with all the plastic assembly, is easily removed if: the three metal clips are detached (the two inside and the one below), the antifreeze hoses are removed from the engine and not from the radiator, and, of course, the hose to the expansion vessel is removed. This is the method used by BMW dealers. PS: To avoid doing damage to the secondary air line, all you have to do is heat up those three guys at 70 degrees Celsius.

Thanks Jay. Fyi the reason why I watched your video is to change my rad fluid over to MOTUL engine ice. It takes 10-20 degrees out of the fluid.

No video on removing air distribution tube in either end of part one (which ends with pointing air tube out) and part two which begins with tube out and broken in the process. Removing air tube seems like it is straight forward but removing it without breaking it is a bitch. Trying heat now as suggested by temciuc

Kirk thanks for the interesting video. I myself have a K1600 with 29000 km on the clock. Is it really necessary to adjust all the valves then? Sincerely, Walter from the Netherlands

My bike has 65000 miles, and not one of them have required adjustment.

Jay, The Venom Center stand dolly has a 500 lb capacity according to the manufacturer. Can you expound on this. It appears to work well on your K16.

Hi Jay, Any suggestions: I flushed my K1600 clutch and used the new Blue Blood Fluid. There is a tiny air bubble I think close to the master cylinder. How do I get that pesky bubble out? It has been four months and it still has not worked its way to the reservoir. I was thinking of breaking loose the upper hose or i could try to do a vacuum at the slave but hate to waste the $26 blue blood fluid

So sorry I missed this! If you know it is close to the end, I wonder if you could thread a small tube into the line and then suck out the bubble. Also, if you hold anything that vibrates (fill in your own tool name here) against the line that might help motivate it to come out. Let us know what happens either way!

Hi Jeff! You mentioned you did this at 50-something thousand miles. Did you change your spark plugs prior to that or is this the first change?
@JayBearjaysbigadventure
@JayBearjaysbigadventure 3 года назад
It was my first change. The gaps were widening, but they were functioning just fine. At 65k miles, I've never needed a valve adjustment either. They're all within spec, and I ride hard, lol!
@BorisOnWheels
@BorisOnWheels 3 года назад
@@JayBearjaysbigadventure Yeah, i've done a lot of research on the valve adjustment subject and what I found out from other people's experiences is that adjustment is never needed. They do the clearance check, but even at 120k no adjustment is needed. BMW says we should change spark plugs at 18k - that's just ridiculous! But to each of their own. $1200 for 18k service at the local BMW shop, and it doesn't even include oil change, or the final drive oil replacement... :)
