Jayson Tatum HAS BROKEN Stephen A. Smith

If you’re not a BIG fan of Jayson Tatum, then the past month must’ve BEEN hard for you…
Because looking at how Tatum performed in that close out game of this year’s NBA Finals, he looked like a star, stepping up when the Celtics needed him MOST…
So call it what you want… “he didn’t win the Finals MVP”, “recreating the Kobe pic had negative aura”…
But at the end of the day, he got the job done, and that’s all that matters…

Absolutely. DPOY but not great facilitator in Smart is gone, in his place are White and Holiday, an All NBA defensive calibre player in White with great facilitation and dangerous shooting, and All-Star calibre and previous champ Holiday who defends more determinedly than most and can put 40 on you if you forget think he's the weak link. Not to mention that JT defends centres and JB mad dogs opposing teams star players all day long. Stephen A never played professionally but he still managed to get CTE at college.

I don't know why nobody's talking about this but in a lot of these games Luca would take like 45% of the shots at least sometimes a lot more Tatum would take like 30% and now it's consistent throughout most of the season in other words the Celtics were so deep because they had a complete team that Jason many times will take much less shots than the other stars on other teams just because he could pass the ball so in conclusion it's very fair to say if jaylen Brown wasn't on the team Jayson Tatum's average per game would probably skyrocket

If Tatum can keep playing like he did in Game 5...he'll be a Celtic All-Time Great and probably an NBA All-Time Great. Cut the side-stepping 3's in half, take hard drives to the hoop for a lay-up/dunk, or dish it out to a shooter. This team is built for him to succeed. The problem with the Cs was as a unit they were too young JT and JB Robert Williams Grant Williams were all in their early 20s in 22...JB and JT were asked to carry and lead the franchise from like year 2. That is a lot to put on a kid's shoulders....Even after all the failures, JT is still younger than Lebron and MJ when they won their first rings....Its just because they have been so close so many times...I actually expect JTs game to unlock a little more now that the weight has been lifted...He can just play now and not worry about having to win. Let us not forget at just 26 he is a 5 time All-Star and 4 times all NBA player already...what were we all doing at 26? Cut the kid some slack

"I actually expect JT's game to unlock a little more now that the weight has been lifted" - i agree with this. my sense is that since his first ECF as a rookie, Tatum has felt the pressure to be "the guy" and it took real mental toughness to relinquish that enough to play Celtics team ball, in order for the Cs to get this chip. next season we should see a new JT, freed from that pressure, maxing out his talent... just like we saw this year from JB7. and if KP can stay healthy... look out league, 70 win season?? banner #19?? can't wait for 2024-25

He had some good games but was no where near a star or a player, who if absent, woul make a real difference. He apparently doesn't yet understand the concept of really working as a team and not just giving lip service. He still doesn't understand sacrifice and that if you shoot less in order to get the rest involved, you're not going to get as many baskets because of the lack of repitition and doing other things for the sake of the team. Honestly, some criticism is still valid. I'm from Boston, I want Tatum to be great. He had a great game 5. He arguably had a good game 1+2, even if his score doesn't reflect it. He wasn't the MVP though. The Celtics don't win if Brown doesn't capitalize and give him those assists. Tatum DOES struggle mightily in the playoffs. Maybe it's just nerves. Maybe it's the quality of defenders. Maybe it's teams saying anyone but Tatum and scheming defense to lock him down. Whatever it is, he needs that ultra consistent guy like brown to bail them out when those defenses are successfully shutting him down. Tatum averaged 23 or whatever it was because he'd put up 14 points in one game and 31 in another. Brown averaged 22 or whatever because he gave you 21-25 a game every game except game 4.

6:10 No, Magic wasn't the only player to ever do this. Nor is he even the LAST player to do this. Larry Bird did it in his 2nd year, believe age 22?, the next year after Magic in 1981. Damn near won FMVP, too. (Literally flip a coin between Larry and Cedric for MVP that finals. They both played the best, but Larry shooting percentage was bad.) In fact, Russell did the exact same as Magic, winning the title his rookie year. (No FMVP until 1969, which Russell won the original one.) Kareem Adbul Jabbar did the exact same thing, his 2nd year as well, with Final MVP as well. The most recent player to do this was Dwyane Wade, who won a title and FMVP his 3rd year in the league. So, no, Magic wasn't the only player in history to do it at a young age. The fact that Jayson was close to be listed with the people above is a testament to his and his team.

Perkins don’t even deserve to be a Celtic let alone be on the same roster as the 08 Celtics. Cuz if it wasn’t for Eddie house and James posey idk if they win then.

There both bad, but Perkins for having played and been a role player in a Celtics champ is a bumbling, pandering fool. Tatum is exactly what you want in your teams star. Celtics are just lucky enough to have to of them and insanely good role players (who are all fringe all-stars) surrounding them

Go look at the ages of HOFers when they won their first title. The league is very. Very lucky he was only 24. With no ShaQ. No David Robinson. Magic won at 21. Bird won at 23. As the # 1 option. Kobe was not. Tim was not. LBJ took a decade. KD took a decade. They fukin had to buy their chip & move around. They did it from Jaylen brown not being able to dribble shoot or free throw to a top 3 SG in the NBA. The kid was 19. 4 minutes away from beating LBJ in 7 games & going to a final as a rookie. He’s a 2 way player. If Jaylen brown was better Free throw shooter. (I’m never comfortable with him at the line). & if he plays 1 good game in that heat series. Down 0-3. 3-3. Rolls ankle in 1st minute. Jaylen brown said he choked. Draymond Green said he couldn’t Belive the game plan going in on a 24 yr old. He’d be a sr in college lol. The warriors went into the finals saying don’t even worry about JB. Triple Tatum. Double. Whatever you gotta do. Jaylen can’t beat us. He was right. Jaylen FINALLY comes through & its oh he’s always been the better player lol He gets 1 on 1s every fukin game. Not 1 team goes into a game & says ok. Stop Jaylen. Jaylen isn’t going into Milwaukee down 3-2. Win or go home & dropping 47 9 & 5 on Giannis to force & win game 7. Tatum made KD look like a Kid. Swept Brooklyn. Beat Giannis. Beat Jimmy. Then ran into the patriots of the nba at the time. At 24. He’s still not even in his prime. He’s getting 3. Minimum. They will repeat. It’ll be a dynasty now that he DOSENT have to do everything

When Kendrick said for tatum to step it up while on 36 points 12 rebounds Kendrick can never do thatNEVER, his career high wasn’t even 30 points it was 26 so bro shouldn’t be talking tatum had 10 more points then Kendrick’s career high and that’s not even his career high tatum career high was 51 points KENDRIK SHOULD NOT BE TALKING and at the end of his career he only had one ring but tatum already matched that at 26 years old and who knows he might even get more title/rings

Don’t believe everything u hear believe the fact of the matter that Tatum is Better on both ends of the court than LUKA OR JOKER plus {JT//JB} is the ABSOLUTE BEST DUO IN THE LEAGUE if not them please name a better duo in the game today that’s more complete and competitive OFFENSIVELY & DEFENSIVELY

I like to look at the arguments made for his opponent in the finals, Luka. Luka will be th baame age as Tatum next year. If he doesn't win the finals, what then? He's not as accomplished as Tatum. Yet the narrative is Lula is a top 3 player and "on track" to be considered in the greatest ever. So wtf is that? Also, I watched Kobe have poor shooting nights and series like Tatum. If that was Kobe they would have given him MVP. It's based on how people feel about him.

I wanted Perkins to succeed as an analyst but he's consistently proven himself to be a complete idiot. You don't break up a the core of a team while they are very young to get more successful. You bring in veterans to help them overcome their weaknesses.

I'm more disappointed in the Celtics losing to the Warriors in 2002 than I am them losing to the heat in 2003 because they only lost to the heat because of a bunch of b******* circumstances new rookie head coach who is coaching staff left dim mid-season both Superstars injured in the playoffs 6 minutes a year Malcolm Brogdon also injured Rob Williams injured as usual

I’m a huge Boston Celtics fan, but I can honestly say Tatum thinks he’s better than he is. I’ve never really been a Tatum fan. I’ve always been team Brown. I don’t even own a Tatum jersey only brown. Probably going to get a couple other team member jerseys this year.

If you're a huge Celtics fan, you would have known how good Tatum was this year during the regular season. He simply had a prolonged shooting slump during the playoffs. But, he did everything else wonderfully (rebounds, assists, defense etc). I love Brown as well, and he deserved the MVP, but Tatum was stud.

Just because you are on TV doesn't make you an "expert". Kendrick Perkins is a well-known Celtics' hater even tho he won a chip with the Celtics in 2008. He is actually anti-Boston for a few years now. It is just annoying and unprofessional for someone to be in that position and str8 out discredit someone's accomplishments. Like Jayson Tatum stated, they have to win it again next year to silence the critics. Suck on that Kendrick Perkins and all the other haters.
