Me being a huge Jazmine Sullivan fan, I can tell she was a little nervous in the beginning but by that 2nd verse of Prodigal Son, she was ready to BEAST! Kim Burrell's placement in songs are very tricky and Jazmine Sullivan executed perfectly! Best tribute of the night! That was such a mother and daughter moment...
+KelRom812 are you on her facebook and her twitter? she's really funny and can get really silly. Irresistible quality for a woman (to be able to beast on stage, then kick back and get silly sometimes.)
THE FUCKING MELISMA RUNS SHE DID AT THE END OF THE SONG WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! LITERALLY HOW MANY NOTES DID SHE FIT IN JUST THE 2 BARS OF THE SONG ALONE! WHAT A FUCKING BEAST! EVEN KIM WAS EXHAUSTED AFTER LOLOL!!!
But lemme correct myself from over a year ago if she goes back to being authentic and serving God she absolutely can tap into the anointing again and I believe she will go back in the right direction Amen
The only time I'd give Lifetime a pass when it comes to biopics would be if they did "Lifetime Presents: Everlasting Life-- The Story of Kim Burrell" with Jazmine playing and singing the lead role of Kim. LOL
+GODSON Official Music Jazmine use to sing Calvary in church growing up.....she use to work at the McDonald's on Lehigh Avenue and be singin' Kim Burrell....yea....she's a definitely the incarnate daughter/mix of Kim Burrell and Lauryn Hill
U can tell she's nervous...she sang most of the song with her eyes closed, but she killed the performance. "Princess of Runs" paying tribute to the " Queen of Runs." Simply beautiful!!!!
Plus size, darkskin black women. That sums it up. They get the least amount of attention from the entertainment industry because White people don’t want to listen to them.
What a very special vocalist . The 2 songs she performed in this tribute to Kim Burrell were very difficult songs to lead . What a range she has . Jazmine also speaks from her heart . She has a good spirit !
Steven Elder you left this comment a year ago but it grasped my spirit so abruptly! I had to say Amen! In a JUST world...smh. Mercy God, if only the world could see it the way we do, with God's eye. 🙏🏾👑
Steven Elder no, she doesn't have the listenability that Adele has. She does far too many runs and it isn't enjoyable by the masses, this comment is silly. Also, I'm a Jazmine fan but this performance was a little shaky, especially around the beginning (maybe nerves?!). Adele is a legend, maybe just a little respect for what she's done?! PS even as I listen now, she's doing that same drop run over and over. No.
Don't get me wrong I'm a HUGE fan of Brandy's vocals from the ad-libs, riffs, and Runs BUT although they both have beautiful rasp to their voice Jazmine is the closest to Kim's voice! She's got it.Hands down did a great job because it's difficult to sing Kim's songs.
Lauren Murrill Excuse me, but you might be the only one judging between voices. The rest of us are simply listening to the song. For the record, there is more to singing than simply Jazmine and Brandy, but I thank you for your interpretation nevertheless!
Yes! She really Is I was listening to Her original version of He loves me (I don't know why) & said OMG a younger Kim Burrell & Jazmine sound so identical. Its Scary
Lol jaz ain't touching Brandy lol brandy vocals become better ever year and she pulls new tricks every year haha we still haven't seen all of Brandy's voice and that's why she the vocal Bible
Uncontrollable tears from the 7:20 - end. I love her voice. She puts every ounce of herself in every note she sings, so every performance has an emotional conviction in it. #Queen
She just gave everybody what they've been waiting for. We've been waiting for this moment. For Jazmine to sing for Kim an we got to see how much Kim loved it. That's what I've been waiting for. I love to see the reaction of the person receiving a tribute. Jazmine murdered that whole set. I'm proud
FROM 7:19 THRU THE END SHE GOT IN HER ZONE AND TOOK THE FUK OFF!!!! LAWD SOMEBODY PLZ TELL ME BESIDES FANTASIA KEKE WYATT AND BRANDY WHO ELSE IS FUKN WITH THIS WOMAN #BEAST #VOCALS #UBETTASANG
Prodigal Son is such a brilliant song vocally NOBODY covers it. If anyone was gonna attempt it it had to be Jazmine and she nailed it. Its testimony and ministry and vocal artistry and it takes voices liked these two ladies and a style that story-tells through song to pull it off. I like Jonathan Mc Reynolds tribute as well. He did another song that nobody tries to cover "i come to you more than I give" because Kim is so genius but i have to say his version was kind of genius and made the song a little more modern.
f**k RU-vid advertisement in the middle of her marvelous ending riffs and runs!!! I just discovered this song and I am listening to all of the live versions she has done.. she si so powerful, intense, leaves me with no breath every time...I LOVE HER!
I love the way jazz sing she is truly one of the best I can watch this over and over again because she's not just singing she puts her all into it to make you feel what she's singing and that's why I love her as an artist
