Hi guys. I successfully kept my baby alive so I'm gonna start making videos again. Thanks for still being here. :-) GO SUBSCRIBE TO SEBASTIAN NOW...DO-EEEEEEET / krasstomat
You're right about Sebastian's influences, he's also in a jazz-fusion/metal band called Panzerballett, and some of his Meinl performances are super jazz-oriented.
Welcome back dude! If you wanna see your suspicions regarding Sebastian’s jazz experience confirmed, check out either of his Meinl performances with the trio “Jung & Jung.” Would love to see you react to those. Cheers
Welcome back, brother! Glad to see that you took the time you needed! Of course, we understand one's family and mental wellness take precedence. We definitely don't want you burning yourself out or spreading yourself too thin because you feel obligated That's for sure. We're all here because we have a passion for drums, and I personally enjoy having places to go online to share it. None of my local friends care too much for the intricacies involved with drumming especially regarding extreme genres. I don't know if you've reacted to Lord Marco on your Patreon or not, but he has what's got to be in the running for fastest gravity blast known to mankind. I'll put a link to one of his videos in this comment's replies (so as to not be mistaken as a spammer) for anyone who would like to view it and, perhaps, throw another name into the hat. Also, a cat named Matt Mcguire is definitely worth a look; he does covers including all genres from metal to rap to pop but does them with a dexterity that's crazy cool. Again, glad you're back and feeling better. Keep rockin' and stay heavy, man! Wishing everyone peace, love, and good happiness stuff from the mountains of northeastern Alabama 🤘
well this is a nice sunday treat! sup garrett! just remember, we love the hell out of you and want nothing better than for you to be happy and worry about your mental health.
Lovely to see you back. I really appreciate your take on what other drummers do, you're one of the very few who understands what happens even if you can't actually do it yourself. No bullshit. Love it.
I remember you digging Sebastian’s foot to foot technique on the double kicks last time. The dude can play jazz also btw. Garrett you should get back on the kit because that old clip you showed of yourself playing a gig highlighted your natural ability and cool technique (I say “cool” since it’s not dissimilar to mine lol). Edit : Sebastian is otherworldly.
Not being a drummer I had always wondered what the double bass technique that you call a swivel was called. I've been referring to it as "Mr. Slippy-Foot" because I grew up with South Park. Now I know what to call it when I'm in polite conversation but I'm sticking with Mr. Slippy-Foot for my own amusement
Servusssss. Thank you for reminding all of us why this is the best time to be alive as far as music goes. I was so happy yesterday to see Garrett was doing a reaction to this playthrough that I literally jumped out of my chair. You, Linus, Rafael, and Javi are all making this world a better place and moving music into places none of us ever imagined we'd go. So excited to hear this album!
Its great to see you back. Id love for you to check out The new Lorna shore (To the hellfire, Of the Abyss, or I return to nothingness.) or Alex Rudingers Playthrough of his new whitechapel Track lost boy
Hey man. I’m delighted to see you back in the game and feeling better. You could tell how much you enjoyed that one! Just started learning the drums myself, been watching since the bleed days so cheers for all the explanations and such and I look forward to future vids :)
Definitely missed your videos. Hope you and the family are doing great. I'm off to listen to your older videos again. Upload when you can, no stress if you can't. You're great at what you do. Much love from the UK.
It feels like the slow hemiola pattern at 8:48 hits as something perhaps a bit more unusual because the hats have the duple accents vs the snare. His phrasing is incredible.
Glad to have you back. Congrats on everything. Sebastian man, technique, musicality, ridiculous independence, seemingly effortless high intensity drumming. He literally threw in everything but the kitchen sink and it all just worked...beautifully. Thanks for doing this reaction.
Good to see you back my dude. I also have the same reaction every single time I watch Lanser... EVERY TIME... "I want to play like THAT." This is some next level creativity in metal. And I love that he can kill some jazz too.
Heck Yeah!! Really GLAD to have you back Garrett!! You have been greatly missed sir!!! Hope the family is great too!! Greatly enjoyed your jam with the jazz group recently!! Hope more gigs come soon!! Again...WELCOME BACK BROTHA!!!!
It's good to see you back man, always enjoy your reactions. I've mentioned it to you in the past but a song I really hope you can get to is spastic by revocation. It's an instrumental by a death metal band that has a bit of a funky flair to it. Lots of really cool drum patterns going on. Cheers man, looking forward to the next reaction 🤘
Glad you are back! Seriously. I am no drummer but I love your videos due to the insights and honestly it's very peaceful to me in a way. And, yes take care of yourself bud. But if you're taking recommendations, if you haven't already... check out Deathspell Omega maybe the song Abscission? Or anything off the album Paracletus.
Speaking of notable cymbal work, check out Be'lakor's Stone's Reach and Of Breath and Bone. The drummer on those 2, while technically competent but not overly advanced, makes SUCH GOOD USE of cymbals, it's such a notably appealing element of his playing. I feel that kind of thing doesn't get enough recognition, but I love it so much.
Your reaction to that breakdown is exactly what it looks like to see someone begin to really enjoy the heavier genres of music. It's moments in metal like that where you finally understand the appeal to it.
fun fact the reason he looks like a jazz drummer is because he is, he has a couple other projects some of which are jazz and he kills it. another awesome band he is apart of is panzerballet which if you've not checked out you have to its an awesome blend of jazz and metal with a lot of other styles mixed in.
