Chris- you always present your concepts is a very understandable manner. I just love watching these vids, and always learn a lot. When I have more time on my hands I will sign up for more comprehensive content/ lessons. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with the World.
I asked about ideas for creating lines with tritone subs in the last video then I saw this video today with 4 clear examples. Great stuff, thanks. I was missing the 9s and 11s and 13s in the lines I was trying before seeing this.
I really enjoy your Lessons, nice jazz tone , very good explanations. I can also recommend buying your Chord Melody Arrangments. Cheers from Germany, keep going on.
Brilliant stuff! as always.. Thanks so much! When performing though, you can't possibly think all this through, do you? I take it you're being forensic here for demonstration and educational purpose. I do find your vids absolutely brilliant to that end for sure. Thanks again!
I don't think theory or do any analysis while playing. I see pictures and shapes on the guitar neck and stay on the creative side of the brain. Theory and analysis is the early developmental stage. Then the information has to be reflexed so it can be used without thinking. Like an NBA player practices dribbling, screens and 3 point shots. It all has to be reflexed in order to be able to respond in the moment.
I enjoy how you explain making lines. My question is this. Is it a good idea to memorize these exact lines by saying the notes and then practicing them alot so that my ear hears the line? Is this the way to learn lines in case I want to create my own lines, or vary the ones I've memorrized so they become more automatic?
Having some lines memorized and reflexed is a great foundation. Also it is important to see the line in relation to the chord voicings on the neck and to be aware of what tones are being targeted in the line
