Im listening to this periodically, its either only this for a week or i forget about it for a week, its such a wonderful Concert. I also Play trombone and the Song at min 33 fastinates me so much, i have been playing for over 7 years now and i still have to change of even that c to c octave at the beginning, its Not the range, Just the smooth Change of the Note, Looks so effortless
Very tasteful bone player in All the things you are. Its worth it just to hear such beautifully controlled high register ballad playing simply drop dead gorgeous playing 34:36
I am almost without words! I sit here in Sydney Australia, in my mid eighties, having "learned and played a few instruments and worked over forty five years in entertainment down here, I must register my exhilaration, palpitations and more, the presentation, the charts and arrangements. My whole family, (one of 8 musos or avid followers) might not believe me unless I pass on this sensual event. The headphones are definitely one of the most wonderful inventions.
Thaks Pieter! This is fcking AWSOME! The best jazz sound ever. I also recorded jazz in our biggest hall: Gallus hall (Ljubljana, Slovenia). Thanks for uploading! This guys rock! BRAAAVOOOO!
This is as appealing a jazz orchestra as I have ever heard. Impeccable taste and intonation as well as brilliant soloists. Jazz no longer belongs to just America, Simply fabulous!
The last thing I expected to hear from a Dutch big band was the first tune, an English folk song, dating from the 1580's, and called 'Greensleeves'! It sounds wonderful!
Thanks for a wonderful and reminiscing selection of the American Songbook! Thanks to the entire orchestra, all soloists and the leader of the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. A very special accolade and congratulations to H. Meutgeert for the superb arrangements!
Why is 'I'm Old Fashioned' by Jerome Kern (second piece) billed as: 'If I were a Bell' by Frank Loesser?! Plus the director then says that it was I'm Old Fashioned by Loesser! What a mess.
I've been a lifelong fan of The Four Freshmen. If you want to hear an incredible jazz concert with the Frosh, listen to "The Four Freshmen in Holland," where they were supported by the Concertgebouw orchestra. Some of the finest jazz solos. particularly those with Curtis Calderon on trumpet. The guys just totally destroyed "Route 66" with their interplay. What a group!!
I am fed up with those thousands fantastic big bands playing behind a "von kapel meister" that nobody look at, is quite unusefull, a guy who kills the magic of Jazz.
Yep. It is a professional, competent performance of professional, competent big band arrangements. And it's pretty soulless, boring, and undistinguished. It's the kind of thing that might be recorded for a film where there's a big band playing in the setting of a scene... you want the music to be "good", but not to draw attention away from the actors and dialog... And I am sometimes that loves modern big band music...
+Andy Wilderness You are full of silly shit. One;s genes are in place at birth - the talent, the qualities and the potential. You need to learn a great deal more before writing to me, kid.
+Andy Wilderness Do grow-up Andy, it would be handy, even for Pandy. If you actually knew anything about jazz, instead of wallowing in the self-awareness puffball cloud of ego, you would have understood my comment. Unfortunately you are just a diminished boy with delusions of adequacy. Now get of my back, you and your ilk are pests.
+Andy Wilderness You may be a tough and smart little shit behind a keyboard, chum, but gie me two minutes in a locked room with you and you would never be able to write again. Anything else you may write will be wiped before reading. So don't waste your time - or my more valuable kind. You are too pathetic.
Music is the best but what's is this language? It's horrible, like mix Deutsch with French and Nideraland. Disgusted when the men is speaking I must close my ears. Horrible.
