And today, Price soldiers on---much like Mother Courage---in search of a new home for her long-running L.A. music venue, The Jazz Bakery. Introduced here by Bobby Troup.
It's 2024 and i keep going back to this video to hear Ruth Price but am still amazed ar Scott Lafaro's huge and innovative sound. He would only be on this earth for 3 more years. Next stop Bill Evans Trio in 1960,1961 where he would make his masterpiece! His articulate and propulsive runs up and down the bass would influence all future bassists and change the instrument forever! Amazing!!🙏💞🔥
A wonderful singer I'm just discovering. Today's singers would do well to learn from her mic technique -- she's got a real voice, knows how to project, and the fact that she doesn't eat the mic helps us relate to her as an artist! I've mixed both live recordings and live sound for some of the greatest singers in jazz -- Carmen, Sarah, Tony, Johnny Hartmann, Joe Williams, Bill Henderson -- and none of them had to eat the mic to be heard, or to maintain perfect intonation!
