You also can make 10k week just hauling junk that is left over on load board they nobody wants. Empty tow away trailers. Tons of them everywhere to stay busy.
Good info. Gonna start power only after Thanksgiving. I'm new authority so have to wait 3 months to get loaded with JB. But I'll be using other broker apps to start

You can find plenty of good quality used trucks for that amount at auctions, ma and pa dealerships, and always look over your truck you want to buy with a fine tooth comb when getting from a private seller. I roughly spent about the same amount your looking to spend repairing the truck I have. It’s not perfect yet but she runs
If you have your own authority: JB Hunt, Swift, Convoy, Amazon Relay, Prime Inc., TQL, any Greenhouse in your area, Coyote Logistics, CH Robinson, Schneider…just to name a few. If your planning to lease on, go with a company that will give you at least an 80/20 split like Prime Inc. or Mercer. Remember I am not a spokesperson or representative for any of these companies. It is always a good practice to have your own straps. Some trailers may have them inside all ready. Some loads that you pick up may or may not require a straps. When doing power only for a carrier, the carrier is the one who pays all Lumper fees. It works the same way as if you were a company driver. They give you the contact information on who to contact for a lumper fee. When you go to a receiver if there is a fee to unload then they will give you : the name of the lumper company, the lumper’s tax I.d. number, and amount to be paid. Those three things is what you will need when you contact the carrier that you are hauling for.
Yes. I have various power only contracts. Can also get power only freight off the DAT board. Mainly run agriculture for Metrolina Greenhouses in the spring, fall, and winter.
I’d also suggest not putting your eggs all in 1 basket (like just rolling with jb hunt.) sign up with everyone xpo Christmas Robinson Werner swift knight ect ect. Then surf dat on top of all that. I’ve been making 10-14k per week running power only. I use everyone.
@@anonymoustrucker1782 you can go from LA to South Carolina for 8-9000$. Takes 3.5 - 4 days averages out to 1500-1800$ per day. Then you still have 3 more days to work and make more $$$ . You should atelast be able to get 1500$ a day on your truck.

Power only you have your own authority and pull someone else trailer. IC your equipment is leased to the company and that's the only carrier you work for at that moment
The number 1 thing is the freedom to work and pull for anyone you want at any given time with your own authority and go where you choose. You make 100% of everything with your own authority versus let’s say 70% to 80% of the load leased to a company. They make sure that you are current on permits and insurances which is taken from your settlement. That’s the only difference. You still are 100% responsible for everything related to your truck after the fact: repairs, fuel, maintenance, taxes, truck payment, etc.. this is with any company.
I honestly cannot speak for them as far as that aspect. That will be something you will have to talk to them about because I have never been leased to their company. But I can say for the most part I realized it’s easier to pay truck insurance once a month versus every week. The amount of truck insurance is based off the type of truck you have and also driving history. Exactly what they charge I am not sure.
Yes. You have to have what is known as trailer interchange. I have a video explaining the breakdown of what is needed for power only. It is listed under “Commercial Truck Insurance”
If this is in reference to home time, only a few days. If you plan to stay home a week or more. It is best to not pickup an empty after your last delivery so you are not held responsible for someone else equipment. Remember you can always request an empty trailer location 24 hours in advance of your scheduled pickup.
Couple questions big bro! How long do you have to have an active authority before your allowed to run for JB Hunt? Also if you gross 6500 a week is that running otr or could you do that and be home every night?
3 months and if your talking about jb hunt you have to inquire about the different sub divisions. But it is also very possible to make that, just depends on who you working for
Brother I have 2 questions 1) can I use a JB HUNT trailer to take a load for a different broker? 2) Once I have an empty trailer can I book dry van loads on the app instead of power only loads?
It is the same as if you are a company driver. If you are doing a drop and hook then that is what you do drop one trailer hooked up to another trailer of the same company. If you are making a normal delivery then you stay hooked to the trailer so you can book more freight either way. If you are going on home time, then it is your choice rather or not you hold on to the trailer so that you already have a trailer when you come off of home time or coordinate with them, JB HUNT, as to where you can drop the trailer.
I know that JB Hunt have intermodal and various contracts. I would contact the recruiting department if I was you to gather more information pertaining to this question.

As with any carrier you need to have an empty trailer before picking up a load or preloaded trailer. Unless otherwise approved you can not BT into the shipper and take a load out. That is how a lot of mega carriers work.

Had a gentleman tell me the only way I can see the load board I’ll have to take a load for 7 days and if I do good with those then I can see the board, has anyone heard of that before? If so where does the loads go?
Not true at all once they approve you you’ll be able to access the full board day 1. Now amazon does something similar to what you’re saying where you have to get to a certain point or certain level before you can see the best paying loads
@@ROLLIN-DUB yeah they don’t I find it’s easier to email if they have a email listed. If it’s a good load guarantee his phone has been going off from the second he posted it that’s why I prefer load board apps where you can negotiate and book on the app without having to call anyone.
Yeah but you also playing roulette when you wait last minute when you can book well in advance and get something paying higher than that. You have to know how the rate market operates. Loads booked in advance a week or so no matter which load board is basically a name your price type deal.
I can not answer that because it depends on the individual, how much they run, and what they need to earn to make a living. For example, you may want to gross $3000 a week while others will like to make $6500 a week.
