It seems as if perhaps something is going on with that dyno. I thought the initial run was a bit high. Maybe another dyno machine would give you more consistent numbers.
@@TheLemonFactorI think there is something happening to that correction factors...or maybe the gasoline...or you should data log your car to see what boost pressure it is running in real time. I'd also test the car on a retarder-type Dyno like Mustang. Inertia type dynos are not very good.
I am very interested to see what Jesse has to say because I agree, something is not right from your original dyno run to this one. Maybe your original one was not correct. Looking forward to your next video.
Your stock numbers are a little too high. My 2021 stock dyno at 392hp and 416 tq and that’s only couple e hundred feet above sea level. What do your jb4 logs show your boost to be at?
@@TheLemonFactor everyone’s stock numbers my man. Either the dyno place you went to don’t t know what they’re doing, are you just have a factory freak. I can tell you from running the jb4 myself, is that your stock numbers are that of running map 2. On map 4 with e50 I’m just over 500 whp. That’s with a intake exhaust and down pipe.
I am running the jb4 with an e30 blend, and can tell you it rips tires (295s) even at almost 50mph. not even sure what i would do with any more power at this point.
I think your original dyno numbers are incorrect. I’ve seen the B58 tested stock and it’s around 360. That would make your JB4 numbers correct. Just a guess.
420 hp at the wheels, bone stock? That's amazing! The brand/type of dynamic does make a difference. Mustang dinos tend to be lower than other types, I believe.
The JB4 (or any tune) on the Supra really needs a downpipe to get any meaningful gains. Would highly recommend you do that before getting a Jesse tune. Also I believe Burger Tuning suggests running 93 octane for map 2. Could also be why you didn't see gains.
Hey Chad, I have a question about your accord. Is there anything specific that needs to be done in order to dyno the 10AT accord? I was told to just put it on sport mode and turn off the driving aids and run with it on 4th,5th, or 6th gear.
I could not find one at msrp either, so I had to pay a little over, but I got the premium with the mt and I love it. Good luck with your hunt. I had to go about 500 miles away to get what I wanted.
@Joey N Yeah, I've widened my search range, and that might be my only way. I'm also trying to use my Type R for trade-in value. To get the manual would be perfect, but at this point, if I get a better deal on the auto, I won't be disappointed either
I've been tuning for the past 20yrs and I've never quite understood why people think they can just throw a box tune on their vehicle and I think it's going to improve.... it never does it never will (good way to hurt it). You need good fuel the appropriate amount of timing the correct cam timing and as much boost as you can throw at it. Since two engine are never identical..Even if they're the same engine means every engine is going to want something different and that's why box tunes will never work. The stock ecu has had time to get the afr right where it wants it... then you threw a huge change at it. did the ecu have time to get the afr where it wants it? Did you use the same fuel? Was it the same humidity and temperature outside? Is the stock ECU now fighting the piggyback because it's on the Ragged edge of being outside of a perimeter? Or the stock ECU is commanding one thing but getting something completely different.
Thanks for the watch and comment - stay tuned as we continue to test out various modifications to see what works and what doesn’t for the MKV Toyota GR Supra platform 👍😉
This is why I never advocate for a jbr4 system. Guys try em all the time and usually get a loss or inconsistent power. Sometimes it can work right but at the cost of piggybacking - just not worth it. Lots of guys tried it on other platforms and same results. Another reason I never used it on my supra. I'd rather do some hardware changes and do a slow ecu relearn process. Not the same as a tune but at least it's not being forced down like a ibr. Nah man. Get rid of that thing and focus on some hardware mods, like a downpipe or the intake.
This is why they'd rather pay someone for the review instead of rely on random sites to get something wrong, then ppl like you say meh I'm good, lol. Countless Supra owners are using the JB4 without issue for years. Custom tune or not. I've had mine for about 2 years. About 6 months on OTS map, and then I got a Jesse tune. No issues, but I guess don't buy one. Femto ship it across the world and get it relocked at the dealer tune sounds much better imo too, : P.
JB4 is just not worth it. Femto then go MHD or BM3 and you'll never look back. I'm just saving a little bit so I can get my ECU partial unlocked through Femto.
This channel is about testing various mods to see the pros and cons, what works, what doesn't, in order to help people make an informed decision regarding what's right for them. I'm sure a Femto unlock is in the future, but it may not be an option everyone wants to take. I do think there's value in the JB4 option.
@@brycekiller1 yup. These "unlocking" is easier ppl trigger me a little, lol. It's not normal to have to pay that much for a tune. Then you risk a fee every time you hit the dealer if they manage to lock it again. When it's a conventional tune, count me in. Until then, stock was fine, JB4 is just better, haha, and cheaper, and permanent if I want. Unlocks are crazy expensive and a convoluted process wher you ship your ECU across the world and hope all goes well. I'll use that money on more mods for now, lol.
@@TheLemonFactor There was a rumor on the MKV forums that a shop in the U.S. recently did a partial unlock on the locked ECUs but no official announcement yet.
@@TheLemonFactor I have. And you are still not making the horsepower you would with a unlocked ECU. All I’m saying is if you’re going to mode your car. Save and do it right the first time. Otherwise you end up spending money and not getting the results you’re after. I see folks buys cheap Dow pipes. Piggy back tunes only to be disappointed. You spend a lot on a wonderful car as the SUPRA. Spend a little more on the right mods. And have fun.
I think you're missing the point of the channel... it's to identify and test various modifications to see what works, and what doesn't. This is not about slapping a bunch of mods on the car. Some people may not want to remove their ECU, send it overseas to FEMTO for unlocking (for a good amount of money), pay for the tuning software, the tune, etc. To some the JB4 may be perfect for what they're looking for.
Yeah, I’m running stock dyno run this Friday on my 23 A/T 3.0 premium. Then I will add the catless DP and JB4 on 93 to see what numbers I get afterwards.
