At some distance you already lose much of the stereo separation (which isn't much to start with), I welcome their move from stereo to mono, as long as you get better balance overall. It will probably handle volume a lot better.

i hate the excuse "they can update it"...you could say that to EVERY new bluetooth speaker which is released... In my opinion, a speaker should sound good when it will be released for mass production! if not, the speaker is just shit. i dont want to buy a speaker, praying and hoping for an update, which maybe will never come or solve the problem like i want it to sound. so justNO :D I rather buy a speaker which soudns good actually, AT THE MOMENT and not MAYBE in some months. so far, the charge 4 is not the most impressing new 2018 bluetooth speaker to spend the money on. i rather get a bit bigger dockin d fine or dfine +. jbl didnt release any really impressing speakers this year..more like facelift versions of the older ones with small updates. the xtreme 2 was the best so far, after the updates. but still not worth 300€ for me in 2018. it is just not impressing

It doesn't matter. Stereo is always better than mono, of course you can notice stereo sound if you are close to the speaker. 2-driver solution is always better in terms of sound quality. Even better with separate tweeters which JBL should have done given the price level of the speaker.

I don't know. I think Jbl Charge 3 is worther, you can update it to connect+. It is up to you. I don't say you to buy Charge 3, my opinion 3 is better. 👍👀

wrong as fuck. That has nothing to do with driver setup. Plus the 3 sounds like out of a can compared to 4, the 4 has a better frequency efficiency in lower and mid frequencys. Not saying 3 sounds bad. Also keep in mind JBL never was good at playing heights. They always sound synthetic.
