Many people that tested out the Sony Irl always say that RU-vid videos don't do it justice. The JBL speakers are clearly specified for singing. So it will pick up better. But the XB33 is geared toward instruments and bass tracks. So I don't think the tracks used to test the speakers are fair not mention, you just can't FEEL the bass. People have a different opinion if they were to feel the bass. As well.
I was tasked in store JBL is good but sony sounding better to me In open areas like store or outdoor sony sounds fuller then JBL IDK why a lot of reviews don’t like sony BTspeaker
You can hardly even make out the hi hats from the first test song on the sony speaker. The high end is horrible and the sub and mid bass just blends together and sounds muddy.
I just got my xb33 yesterday and it is so amazing! If you are in a budget go for xb33. Then if you have means then take charge5. But for me I'm thankful i didnt buy the charge5! Hehe
i think the sony speaker has more clearer range of sound with the bass, i have the xb33 at home and can confirm that at any volume no frequency is missed. great comparison video on the other hand
@@chubsbarrera14 Happy using and may it work long for you, especially the battery! 😄 I'm already waiting for Flip 6, together (Charge 5 and Flip 6) they will sound so cool I think. Because Flip 5 doesn't have tweeter but Flip 6 will have it now. Flip 5 sounds kinda lost now together with Charge 5 but that wasn't the case with Charge 4 and Flip 4. But it will be strange because two different numbers will match the best now... Also it's the first time that Charge could be connected with two versions of Flip and also you will be able to connect two different Flips together for the first time! That's so cool and thanks to JBL that this time they didn't change the connection! 😄
I genuinely enjoy the reviews. Just wish the speakers weren't played at 100% volume. Even though I'm using a high-performance headphone system to monitor the sound, it's not representative of the speakers' sound at typical listening volume. Really, playing any audio component with an amplifier at 100% is a little nutty. I can explain why, if anyone is interested. FWIW, in a true high-performance system the volume is rarely set above 60% (on the preamp). I realize that folks are used to devices where it's not unreasonable to go to 100% and sometimes advantageous, sonically. Here's the difference - the volume control in this application attenuates an amplifier; it's not just a number on the screen. Amplifiers really don't like being turned up all the way, putting it mildly. That's why the DSP changes the sonic characteristics at 100%. It does it to save the drivers and the electronics from being damaged. As such, we are not hearing any of the BT speakers at their best at 100%. As for what I heard, the Sony sounded somewhat similar to the pair of XB32s that I use in TWS with Win10 laptop. Much prefer the JBL. To my ears, the Sony lacks clarity, transparency, and a more natural tonal balance in comparison. Take this with the caveat posted above.
I also came to conclusion that microphones never get the real life recording even with better brands so most near to real life is my OnePlus microphone 😅
Man muchas gracias por poner los subtitulo en español ahora puedo entender bien los videos y que es el idioma que hablo, suerte y sigue trabajando a si de bien sos el mejor
Just purchased the charge 5, thanks for the clear and super quality info ! This review prompted me to decide which one to buy, and the charge 5 sounds insanely good! Thanks!
@Freline I closed my eyes while listening to this comparison and when I looked the Charge 5 was the better sounding speaker. The Charge 5 has clearer highs and deeper bass than the XB33. The Sony XB33 somewhat sounds like a cheap toy compared to the JBL.
@@andrewbarnett2761 no dought ! I got the charge 5 a few weeks ago , and it's awesome , sounds great by itself and even better party boosted to my flip 5 !
Charge 5 has deeper bass, clearer mids and brighter highs! What else are we looking for in terms of good sound? And you get all these without having to tweak around with equalizer whatsoever! Just plug and play, it gives you all!! So, the Charge 5 is obviously the winner by miles here! 🤩👍🏼👍🏼
He clearly stated that he tests speakers as they are straight out of the box. I believe the Sony would have sounded better in this test with 'LIVE' mode turned on.
Sony wins because it doesn't down mix the sound to mono like the charge 5. Stereo sound always wins (unless you buy 2 charge 5's and run them in stereo).
@@cdbennett2332 I own a charge 2 and a charge 4. When I use the speakers at my desk while working I can hear a difference in sound stage. So much so, I thought the charge 4 was broken until I did research and realized it was mono. I used reward points to get the charge 4 and it cannot be returned. It has more bass but I'm not impressed at all with the sound quality or narrowness of sound stage. Moved the change 4 into the garage. I ended up ordering the large Sony SRS-XP700 for our back deck. It can be placed on its side for full stereo separation with the 3rd tweeter located on the bottom of the speaker when standing vertically. JBL did away with the full stereo separation on the partybox 310 that was available on the older model. Disappointed JBL is going in that direction sacrificing sound quality in the name of more bass.
I have tried both on the street and the sony sounds more and with more bass in the sony application it has an equalizer and if you raise mid bass and treble the sony is better
The Sony seems to have a better balance at this volume. The Charge 5 sounds too sharp and lacks mids. Though there is a little bit of intermodulation in the Sony.
@@alguien752 i think just one tweeter is enough... Putting another woofer could work tho. Though the tweeterwould be smaller just to fit that second woofer in...
Could you bring back the tests at 60% volume? I don’t always listen at 100%, thanks! Nice video btw! Think I’ll get the JBL, but I think Sony has a bit more upper bass “punch” Edited for clarity and grammar errors.
I had a jbl charge 6 and compared it to sony xb33 (new) and i prefered the jbl. But it seems sony just needed a little speaker break in, because 3 months later i compared them again and sony souded way better. Fuller sound, clarity, the bass... Everything was better. I love it. I think the main problem is that the reviewers compare brand new speakers instead of using them for some time to properly break in
Got the charge 5 today. After some playtime and the update i have to say. Test Videos don't do the Sound justice. It sounds much better in Person. Even with good headphones. Charge 5 is impressive.
Sure a tweeter does better if you want loudness on the highs. Sony speakers are highly capable but it seems that Sony prefers a more controlled, less prominent, loud sound signature. You can try boosting the highs and mids on the Sony app and you'll see how capable the Sony is, just not by default. On the other hand, I consider that the XB33 is not the direct competitor for the charge 5. You should compare the charge 5 vs Sony XB43 and there you have a FAIR fight.
Sony sounds more natural and stereo. Open field acoustic efficiency is also better on the Sony. JBL sounds fun for certain boom boom genres but not real to the source. Extremely colored and highs-heavy to please certain market (teenagers and quite loud people) Thanks for the binaural recording and good mic used but still this makes no justice and doesn't tell the whole story when comparing speakers. For a fair comparison I'd kindly suggest you to stand in front of the real speaker and let your ears decide. If your ears are trained enough and have no signs of ear damage (just yet) you'll find the Sony really nice and true sounding while the JBL fun and loud but tiring to listen to. Last but not least, please use other genres to test the speakers. Urban/electronic genres are cool but favor JBL sound signature by a long mile. Please play acoustic/organic/a capella/classical or whatever you prefer but not just r&b/hip-hop and all that ONLY SIDE NOTE: BASS is better on the Sony too. Goes lower and more balanced and there's no artificial separation to make it more prominent. On the JBL I can clearly hear how the low mids are recessed to improve clarity and separation but I bet this is not good when listening to acoustic songs, vocal oriented genres and so on. JBL: wow effect Sony: true and natural
@@eivinas892 watts arent everything, why you think the boombox 1 is that much bigger, has only 40 watts (like charge 5 and xtreme 2) but way more bass and loudness than charge 5 and xtreme 2?
@@eivinas892 boombox 1 has 60WATTS when its plugged but on battery it has only 40 watts And yes size does matter, it is very important, thats why the xtreme 2 when power plugged (plugged in it has 40watts) in has less power and loudness than the Boombox 1 on battery (40watts) There are so much more what matters in sound quality and Power, but my english is not the best and there are many Websites you can search for that will explain to you why everything so much matters ^^
If both were sony, the XB33 would win. I feel people just love the "JBL" brand and that gives it like 30 score already. -The Sony has a gentle heavy bass. Not screaming sound. - The JBL has a wider an amazing twitter. Listen again fam. The Sony wins I have the JBL charge 4, JBL charge 5, xtreme 3. Honest review is : Charge 4 : it worth every penny Charge 5 : the upgrade was nice, but would have been a lil bit bigger than the charge 4 since it's a 40 watts speaker with a twitter now. Xtreme 3 : feels like it's not doing the full volume. The size wasn't maximised. Like some space are left blank. Nice review
Well the sony has more bass but not deep bass, upper bass and upper bass sucks but oh well most of the small speakers have upper bass "Also the charge 5" but the sony...
I have a xb30 and xb33 . So there my realisation is the Sony xb30 is much more clear and thumping bass in low frequencies then the Sony Xb 33. But the loudness is in 33 is much more 30. There is nothing exciting in 33 acceptor lite features and the EQ and another output input options.
Can't wait to preorder charge 5!!! I'll get a 33 later just to assist my 43 with filling the room, u know basically to have a rear channel kinda like with my hyperboom and megaboom 3
If you want to compare sound quality, SONY is You should use the HG series.Because the XB series is not a high-quality sound but a low-pitched model. Or X series.
Charge 5 is more cleaner and slightly more louder but the Sony has better bass. I own both. The features and size are kinda the same but two different sounds I think the jbl sounds better imo.
Hi wellington, do you have any suggestion with which speaker, monitor doesn't really matter, for under 400 euros i can get the most in balance sound? So really detailed and balanced is my preference. Audiophile level. Thanks a lot!
Sony is probably your best bet. I'm a JBL fan myself, having owned a charge 3/5 and flip 4/5. If you want audiophile level quality though, tuning a Sony to your preference eq wise is probably your best bet as it has stereo sound right out of the box and supports LDAC (highest bitrate Bluetooth codec available)
I keep reading comments about people saying Sony is better for bass songs but is not true.Ibought the Sony Xb33 and i returned next day,it didn't bad the bass I was hoping for, Charge 5 has more bass.Maybe depends on the driver you have in your phone also but for me with a OnePlus 7t Charge 5 has more bass than the Sony Xb33 and also it sounds more clear due the dedicated tweeter.
Every speaker sounds decent by itself but the jbl as far as mid sized speakers still sounds. Better then the Sony and I love Sony the xb43 was my baby for a while
My xb33 does not have sound like xb33 in this video... Sound is not muffled like in video...performs better....i don't know what do you do.. In my country charge 5 is expensive even of XB 43
Yeah I must admit the JBL Charge 5 has a nicer sound better bass Clarity and mids. over the Sony Xb33 but I still will prefer a stereo setup over mono. so I guess I'll be going for two charges to replace my Charge 2.
