If you visit Belgrade, you definitely need to buy the Yugoslav speaker systems of the early 80s HZK 12031, this is a very impressive sound, especially after replacing cheap old capacitors that can kill the tweeter at volumes above average
I have one and use it with amazon music HD. On the amazon music app you can adjust a 5 band e.q. On my smartphone I have a very good codec which supports dolby atmos, also utilising a 10 band EQ. Whilst it isn't a hifi, if you know what you are doing, you can get a very good sound out of it. Unfortunately most users of this device will not know, or think about changing the sound settings.
there's only so much bass you can get out of such a size of a speaker. people expecting this to produce 30Hz or lower is stupid, since there is not enough air available to push. sony did this with the XB43, claiming its frequency response is 20Hz-20KHz which is bullshit.
Did you plug it in to AC??? When plugged in it gets louder and hits harder.... on battery it's ok but not the best.. but for a portable Bluetooth speaker it's a good one.. for what it is
I would never bye something like that JBL I have a onkyo receiver and B&W speakers, Luxman turntable and had it since 91' and I have a bluetooth jank connectet to the receiver great Sound
I only used the speakers outside in my garden. They were fine in that situation but not so indoors. I guess it is that they were made for. For the measurements they are good. I have the smaller one.
Its for the size not bad and handy for young People to taken with them. But New generaties dont like a stereo set but like small stuff i think jbl makes this things good but onze you here a vintage marantz your sold.
I agree that you can not listen to it for long, The boosted bass is so tiresome. Do you not have an equalizer app on your smartphone? Maybe they boosted the bass for outdoor use, but they should have included some nice equalizer options.
@@vintagestereo Yes, I do not get it why they boost the bass so much, some marketing division must think that it sells well. Did you ever try Sonos and I thought that you were quite positive about Bose Soundwave. I use the Pure evoke H6 for a small speaker that also had to match bass, but there are good equalizer options.
And yes I completely agree with you they should have gave us a equalizer for it... tbh it's got a decent amplifier inside it. It's actually a 70watt system.. the specs say 40watt rms but thing is each woofer is 30watt rms and each twetter is 10watt rms... so the actual drivers can handle 80 watts rms.. the Amp pushes roughly 40 to 50 watt rms.. in my testing with the ones I have on battery it's doing 30 watt to each driver on ac it's pushing 47 watts to each driver... ppl think it's only doing 40 watt max for the entire setup.. when it's not its pushing alot more.. if it had a equalizer it would be amazing.. I personally like em the younger generation are more into bass.. instead of being audiophiles...
Such sound units are not even stereo. It’s strange that in the 60s, humanity considered the advent of stereo sound to be a big step forward. And today’s youth are obviously returning back to mono?) I think that if people seriously believe that a USB speaker is something complete and sufficient. This means that such people simply do not need anything more. They are ready to eat cheap fast food, which is even worse than any of the worst and cheapest stereo speakers from the 2000s or 90s Perhaps they don’t even need jBL. The sound from the smartphone speaker is enough for them) While if a person is interested in high-quality surround sound, he will certainly turn his attention to full-fledged entry-level multi-band stereo acoustics, even if he is 12 years old and still completely stupid. And in the future he will strive for a higher hi-fi sound. Yes, even if a person does not strive for hi-fi, but is interested in volume and club sound. He will still quickly understand that USB speakers are purely portable sound, and at home he needs to listen to something big and cool in stereo.
thanks for the tip. Just watched user reviews from this speaker and everybody is very happy with the price/sound. JBL is more expensive because it's a name brand
Those JBL units are OK. They will NOT give you true stereo but for background music or outdoor music it's good enough. I have a cheap Chinese unit I use for that outside. It is a lower model but it does OK with mids. It has two 2" drivers and the bass radiators on the sides, 20 watts of power. The JBL Flip 5 (about $100 U.S.). The Chinese clone of this, mine, sold for $30, lol. And from what I can tell, is pretty much identical to the JBL. I believe the cheaper model has better mids because the bass is not overwhelming. Is it great? No. but it is OK. But, I do agree. For home, sure, get a used stereo and some real speakers.
